She lost her family, a shitty family too apart from her little brother. And I think a family would make Leon a little happier. A single event got them together. Perfect timing for both of them.
A beautiful scene from a remarkable movie. On the surface, Leon is a cold-blooded killer who takes lives without a second thought. But deep down, he has a heart of gold.
I always saw him as a deep lonely person, either growing up on the streets or an orphanage. He is highly socially akward, maybe even on the autism spectrum, so he is very easy to manipulate by others who are "smarter" like his mob boss guy. Dude seemed nice, but remember, Mafia is no Social Club and for sure its no family. They are a bunch of bloodthirsty maniqacs who kill their best friend in a second. So Leon got dragged into this as he wasnt good for anything else anyway, appearantly, being able to live on his own and kill to perfection. Thats the only two things he can do. And thats why he has no friends, lovers etc. He knows this isnt for him and thats why he first struggles with himself to open for Mathilda. But when he does and the door is open, not just the appartment one but the one to his soul, he slowly but surely realizes that he doesnt have to be lonely and that he can have another life. Its a real nice character study.
Even though the director probably didn't mean this I've always took it to symbolize that "Pigs don't smell" as in people like Leon who is an assassin and suppose to be a bad human being bc he kills people is actually at his core a good person. That's what i always took this scene for and it's actually my favorite :)
He kill their bodyguard too, and the witness, and everyone in the way. Even all is contract are about drug dealers, i think he killed a lot of innocent people too
I don't know what is it about this movie, probably the little French touch like this scene, that made this unpretentious action movie in the end a true masterpiece.
Leon is such a strong character with a heart of gold and it's so adorable to see his kind of strong and preserved nature be disturbed when Mathilda says "cute name" he chocks on his milk and feels uncomfortable, as he does whenever she makes any kind of romantic gesture or comment toward him, it conflicts his moral stance as he is met with temptation if only for a fleeting moment before he re-balances.
Good movie, shows how human being is devoid of affection and how a female presence can alter a man's life. I do not have psychological for this movie. I identified with Leon
When Leon said that he had a pig on the kitchen I though he would bring a well roasted pork... then I saw that... and WTF? Ps: Natalie was so beautiful... I fell in love

See Besson had met her when she was 12 and he was 29 and waited for the age of 15 so he could legally be with her. if they met when she was 15 I would at least halfway be ok with it as it is the common european age of consent, but in this three years Besson must have kept her close to him, I cant prove it but it seems likely. And given that Besson wanted to go all out with the "lovers" thing, I can see a pattern there. Again, nothing proven, no accusations, etc. Its just thankfully Besson gave in and presented us this masterpiece of a lonely soul that found purpose in his life and a young girl who got saved by the first person in life that didnt behave like shit to her.
