The major difference between being a Club manager in a top league and an international coach/manager is that they are not "your players" they are players that are "on loan" to you for brief spells usually at the end of a season when the players are shattered, injured or both. Also, the competitions are different to the continuous intensity of a league season, you have sporadic games throughout the season and have the players for a few days. Followed, by a tournament lasting a month with an intense period of games with the players held up in an overseas resort, often being bored and fractious.
Learning how to handle a Euros or World Cup tournament is a different skill set from normal league management and does come easily to most high-intensity/top-class PL managers.
The FA needs to appoint someone who has experience managing a Tournament, so Lee Carsley & Steve Cooper are the two ideal candidates.

Many people fail to realize that England's issues go beyond team formation, player positions, and selecting the best eleven. When a team is tired or disorganized, spatial awareness and alertness suffer. Reflecting on Glenn Hoddle's decision to hire psychiatrists for the England players, it's clear that a true manager must identify the fittest and most skilled players from all English divisions, not just the Premier League. We need a team of players who can go the extra mile and display tenacity and passion, similar to what is seen in the Copa America. The English managers considered as potential successors to Southgate don't seem capable of making significant changes; they appear to be temporary fixes which is good enough for the FA but not for English football.

As lamentable as so many of England's performances have been, they have still made it to a semi final and a couple of finals in recent years, and that was under Southgate. It almost feels like cheating to go for Klopp or Pep. If England were to win a World Cup under Pep, the Spaniards have almost as many bragging rights as the English. We can surely find an English manager and learn how to play the modern game. It's about flippin' time .
