The Appeal is so much fun! It’s also a quick read because of the text/email format. There’s a character map and notes at the beginning to get you through all the characters. I think you should give it a shot!
I remember Merphy Napier talking about how This Close To Okay was one of the worst books that she read a few years back. Haven't read it myself, but I feel like you are right about unhauling it 😅
The Appeal was one of my top books last year! but it’s definitely an investment (it’s a slow burn and a huge cast of characters) so i can see why it wouldn’t be your thing
I just love an unhaul! It’s so therapeutic and just feels good to make space for the ones you love! 🙌🏼💕 Also I will TOTALLY buy that copy of Jackal off you if you haven’t donated it already! Just saying! 🙃
Loved the Appeal! Janice Hallett has become an autobuy author for me as I love the mixed media. Whilst there are a lot of characters, their voices are different enough to not get them confused!
I just unhauled 26 books and bought 12 to fill some space lol. I went to my local dollar trees and found some amazing horror/thriller books. Read 5 so far and chefs kiss 💋
Lol I preordered the next Finlay Donovan book today (coming out March 2024). I totally get why people have been giving up on the series but I just can’t; they make me laugh too much and suck me in for a binge read each time. I’d love a new bookshelf reorganization/tour since you’ve unhauled so much too
PLEASE KEEP DARK ROOM ETIQUETTE, it was so good and emotional?!?!? But it was a beautiful story, it does take time to get into it and care for the character - but it gets better the more you read! 🤪
Watching book unhauls is weirdly therapeutic - makes me want to unhaul my own! Forever going to apologize for pushing Spells for Forgetting 🤣 what a freaking gorgeous edition, though 😍
I just gave Half Price Books 2 bags of books and I only received $47.00 but that's ok I spent some of my money for the book Five Survive by Holly Jackson. I love Half Price Books because they have lots of books for cheap and I have 2 Half Price Books about 20 minutes away from me. 😊
Yes, please keep doing unhauls!! I love those videos. It’s fun to see if any of your reasons for DNFing are the same as me. I feel the same way about YA books. I’m 32. I bought a ton in 2019 because I was still reading that age group and then in 2020 my reading tastes changed and I only read Adult books now. Like, I used to love YA romance but nothing beats Christina Lauren or Casey McQuiston or Emily Henry now 😍 I could go on lol. I just find that I’m so done with angsty teens and high school drama. That’s partly why I started One of Us Is Lying and then DNF’d it… because it was to teenage-y and I couldn’t connect with the characters. I feel at this point, I can relate more to other adults and other adulting situations. Partners In Crime was such a disappointment 😫 I just felt like, yes it’s fiction, but why are the MC’s able to sleep together on the run?? If you’re that freaking worried about being chased, it just felt really exaggerated. I finished it, but it was hard. Definitely not a favorite. I did love Mistakes Were Made, but I like your reasoning why you were unhauling it. Keeping all your 5 star hits instead of something that was enjoyable but not an all time favorite makes sense. I think I just loved the characters relationship in there. But it was a little too spicy for me 🔥
omg I loved A List of Cages too and have been eyeing Dark Room Etiquette for so long! Spells for Forgetting had a good twist, so if you want a spoiler just lmk; it's honestly not worth going through the rest of the drama hahah heartbroken about The Villa though 'cause I loved the gothic vibes of that one! lol also I'm definitely gonna be reading A History of Fear this year and I really hope I love it 🥲
I liked The Appeal a lot! but I will say it takes a lot of concentration to get through - so many characters, so many e-mails, and a lot of little details add up to the reveal at the end. I was happy I read it but it may not be for everyone
Dnfed The Dark Room Etiquette. It was unnecessarily too long and too slow. Just unhauling all the books which do not spark something in you is awesome.
A History of Fear was my favorite book that I read in March! Being in the MC's head is wild, and its exploration of religious trauma and queer identity was so impressive to me. I still think about the final line of the book all the time!
I only recently read Mirrorland and ended up giving it 5 stars! It did take me a while to get into it but I am so glad I persisted, I read it while also listening to the audiobook I found I couldn't just listen to the audiobook because of the strong Scottish accent and I couldn't understand it but the plot twists in this book! it was so good at the end.
Pleaseeee read dark room etiquette physically. It was fantastic. I sat down and read it in one day. Once you get to the good part you won’t be able to stop!
Omg I looooved Witcha Gonna Do? Is it badly written? Yes. Is it a bit cheesy and raunchy? Also yes. But I had the absolute best time reading it, would've loved your opinion regardless!
I actually loved the second Finlay Donovan more than the first but I’m nervous for the third. It doesn’t seem like many people liked it. I Let You Go is so good! I read it years ago and still think of it. The twist was shocking at the time
Janice Hallett's second and third books are much better than The Appeal, in my opinion. I'd read one of those instead! The Mysterious Case of the Alperton Angels is the most recent. The Twyford Code is her second book. Both of them were much easier to get into because she focused more on characters, but they both do have that same mixed media format. Both of them had some pretty great twists and turns. Much more surprising and unconventional than The Appeal was, and they both read more like puzzles.
My shelves aren’t full yet but I only keep books that I’ll probably read again so a 4 or 5 star rating on those books. If my shelves ever get full idk what I would do because I only keep the best of the best.
When you unhaul what do you do with the books? I have so many and I have been sending them to Goodwill. Most of my friends are long-distance, or non-readers!!
Hi Gabby good morning happy Thursday morning and I hope you having amazing day today and I loved your book vlogs and this was amazing video I enjoy your channel
Okay, so for the Dark Room Ettiquette - I’ve read it and I’ve given it 3 stars. The writing was very hard to get used to and the protagonist was very unlikeable. It makes sense for the plot for him to be that way though. And it was interesting to see him change as the story progressed. It is pretty interesting story after all. However, it gets VERY repetetive in the middle and it only picks up in the second half after the plot twist - and the plot twist was decent, I think the built up to it was actually fantastic but… just a bit too long. The whole thing just drags too much in my opinion. Like, it is a good story and all that but it just like… kept repeting itself a lot kinda. I wish it had been written by a more skilled writer tbh. I think it’s good but not so good that you’d like to prioritize it over so many other books you have on your tbr. In my opinion the verdict would be to unhaul it 😅
Gabby, I was surprised not to see “All Good People Here” by Ashley Flowers, I’m still PO’D about the ending. I’m so angry over the hours I spent reading it just to have the ending stink…. OK, if Ashley does write a sequel I MIGHT read it but it better be good…. Just saying…😜😜😜😜. ❤❤Judy❤❤
I see they're mostly romance novels. Do you think you're buying fewer romance books now that you're reading more horror books? I realized I was reading way less literary fiction when I started to read thrillers. I don't think I've read one LF book this year. 🤔
I do not understand how or why people enjoy extreme horror. Like you’d literally have to be messed up in the head to find that entertaining. No offense but I hope y’all out there are seeing a therapist haha…
I love how quick you are talking about the books. Great job unhauling, Gabby.
The Appeal is so much fun! It’s also a quick read because of the text/email format. There’s a character map and notes at the beginning to get you through all the characters. I think you should give it a shot!
Unhaul videos are so interesting. I love hearing the reasons why people move on their books.
Same lol
Unhaul books videos are so satisfying to watch 😁
Seeing those past Book Troop picks brought back memories! This year I'm trying to stop keeping/buying books just for their covers 😝
I LOVE unhauls! Pls keep doing them when you need to!
“I am such a space vibes bitch!” Me too girl, me too 😂
There's just something so satisfying about an unhaul
I remember Merphy Napier talking about how This Close To Okay was one of the worst books that she read a few years back. Haven't read it myself, but I feel like you are right about unhauling it 😅
Merphy was right. It’s awful.
Always nice to make room for new books! 📚
I adore you just going nope and chucking the books to the side lmao
I just unhauled 26 books and bought 12 to fill some space lol. I went to my local dollar trees and found some amazing horror/thriller books. Read 5 so far and chefs kiss 💋

Gabby please please PLEASE make a pangobooks! I would love to shop your shelves!
oh i love love unhauls!!
"Space vibes bitch" 😂😂😂
The side eye seeing all of the books I got because you mentioned them and here they are being unhauled. How could. Now I have to do an unhaul too
What do people usual do with unhaul books? Selling or giving away?
I talk about what I usually do with mine at the end of the video! 🥰
It is explained at the very end of the video.
@@gabbyreadsI'm still watching while doing dishes so thank you.
Loved this video thank you for sharing! You’ve motivated me to do a clean out of my shelves.
PLEASE KEEP DARK ROOM ETIQUETTE, it was so good and emotional?!?!? But it was a beautiful story, it does take time to get into it and care for the character - but it gets better the more you read! 🤪
I recently unhauled 25 books and it was so nice to make room for more books I'll love! Already started on it... 😆
I hated This Close to Okay. I remember reading it and thinking, “I’m supposed to root for *this* person?! Absolutely not.”
Watching book unhauls is weirdly therapeutic - makes me want to unhaul my own! Forever going to apologize for pushing Spells for Forgetting 🤣 what a freaking gorgeous edition, though 😍
Omg hahaha I’m still torn on whether or not I should try Spells For Forgetting again!!! 😭😅🥲 I want to love it so badly hahaha
I just gave Half Price Books 2 bags of books and I only received $47.00 but that's ok I spent some of my money for the book Five Survive by Holly Jackson. I love Half Price Books because they have lots of books for cheap and I have 2 Half Price Books about 20 minutes away from me. 😊
I weirdly love unhauls 🙏thanks for an interesting and HUGE unhaul 😍😍
Gabby, don't feel bad Megan Miranda isn't for me either. But her covers are so cute they draw you in lol
Yes, please keep doing unhauls!! I love those videos. It’s fun to see if any of your reasons for DNFing are the same as me.

Thank you for the unhaul! I hope you are well. 💖
Love the way you just throw books out of frame 😂😂
omg I loved A List of Cages too and have been eyeing Dark Room Etiquette for so long! Spells for Forgetting had a good twist, so if you want a spoiler just lmk; it's honestly not worth going through the rest of the drama hahah
heartbroken about The Villa though 'cause I loved the gothic vibes of that one! lol also I'm definitely gonna be reading A History of Fear this year and I really hope I love it 🥲

I loved watching this unhaul, thank you 😊
Nineteen claws and a blackbird was awful 😬 I tallied my average for every nook and gave it a generous 2 stars. Such a disappointment
Dnfed The Dark Room Etiquette. It was unnecessarily too long and too slow. Just unhauling all the books which do not spark something in you is awesome.
Loved the video !
Just finished watching ur live show about the Last word and u uploaded a new video! Yay😁
A History of Fear was four stars for me, and it could also be a Pride read 🖤
A History of Fear was my favorite book that I read in March! Being in the MC's head is wild, and its exploration of religious trauma and queer identity was so impressive to me. I still think about the final line of the book all the time!

Gabby- Hello Fresh should make you their spokesperson!!
That’s so sweet of you to say thank you!! 🥹🥰
Great unhaul 📚☕🌈💐😎🍉🪁
A good horror novella u would like most likely is This is where we talk things out
Get it women! I need to do mine and throw them into small library
Omg I looooved Witcha Gonna Do? Is it badly written? Yes. Is it a bit cheesy and raunchy? Also yes. But I had the absolute best time reading it, would've loved your opinion regardless!
Unhauling is so hard, but I’m with you, I unhaul 3 star books over anything else
Smart move , so many books so little time
The Art of Fear has been lingering on my kindle for awhile now..😮
I actually loved the second Finlay Donovan more than the first but I’m nervous for the third. It doesn’t seem like many people liked it. I Let You Go is so good! I read it years ago and still think of it. The twist was shocking at the time
New subbie here! So happy for you to unhaul this many books 😂 i could NEVER... i'm weak 🤣

WHAT? One star for the Drift? I’m shocked you hated it. I love it! 😮
Loved this vid!😊
Hi Gabby good morning happy Thursday morning and I hope you having amazing day today and I loved your book vlogs and this was amazing video I enjoy your channel
Poor CJ Tudor 🥹😂
Finley Donovan was good the first one. I bought the 2nd one and had no desire to pick it up
I can keep Spells For Forgetting safe for you while you think it over!! 😝
Now That book I don’t know what I was feeling but at the time it was fire for me I loved it 🥰 it on my Re-reads ❤ I fell in love!
Good inspiration to get rid of things that don't inspire you anymore and or u feel can be better appreciated by others

I unhaul vicariously through BookTubers. 🤣

Are you posting these books on a website to sell?
Unhauling is good for mental health 😉👍🏻
Have you checked out The Daydreams by Laura Hankin? I haven't read The Reunion, but I think it might be a better execution.
I need to do a book unhaul.
Great book
Finley Donovan didn’t do it for me. Meh.
Aww too bad "The Only Survivors" was not good. I read The Last House Guest of Megan Miranda and it was quite good.
📚
I read history of fear and it took me so long to get through. Think i rated it 2 stars, if it was 3 it was a low one! Would probably unhaul!
🥰🥰🥰
💜💜
Another year and another unhaul but House of Leaves is still sticking around 😂. There will never be an audiobook for it.
I’ll get to it one day… probably 😂
The book Regretting you❤love it
I hoped you didn't destroy those books that you unhauled/ threw away...as we could see..because they can go to other homes or the library ..
Maybe this is just me, but if i gave a book 3 stars I wouldn't get rid of it. But if i gave a book something under 3 then i would.
💗🖤📚
I see they're mostly romance novels. Do you think you're buying fewer romance books now that you're reading more horror books? I realized I was reading way less literary fiction when I started to read thrillers. I don't think I've read one LF book this year. 🤔
Love your videos, but umm if you want to send all those books my way you can. I'll pay for shipping too 😏
I do not understand how or why people enjoy extreme horror. Like you’d literally have to be messed up in the head to find that entertaining. No offense but I hope y’all out there are seeing a therapist haha…
