The drumming of Earl Hudson is possibly the best punk rock (and reggae to a degree) has ever seen. The Bad Brains has always been one of my favorite bands since the mid 80’s. Fortunately, I was able to see some great shows before HR sadly dealt with mental illness and even brain surgery. Still listen to Bad Brains plenty. Great job! Earl would be proud!
Punk drummers deserve all of our respect, those guys are like cheetahs, play really fast, and some of them play a few fills that seem easy, but are hard at that speed, I’m not a drummer, but just seeing the dude play the song makes me respect punk drummers even more

Earl Hudson set the standard for hardcore drummers and he could switch into reggae and jazz at will and believe me in 1982 the only punk drummer with that ability was Topper Headon and both Earl and Topper are from jazz backgrounds. He also had great economy of movement like a punk rock Bill Bruford.
@Kell Completely agree. And that debut album. That is to punk rock what Bonham on Led Zep 1 was to rock music. They set new standards for those to follow them and apart from Lucky Lehrer there weren’t many at that time following until 1990 when Josh Freese came along on Fear of a Punk Planet than later Brooks Wackerman with Infectious Grooves, Suicidal Tendencies and Bad Religion.
@@misfit2022 You have pure classic musical knowledge! Bad Brains did set the bar extremely high! I was pretty bummed when HR had to cancel the 2023 tour but his health is top priority. Earl's health hasn't deteriorated like HR's. It's sad to see how bad HR's migraines have been him broke financially and mentally ill. 😢
@Kell Thank you and yes would love to see Bad Brains live and one of my friends went to see them in Seattle but my pocket does not stretch to thousands of miles but seen Bad Religion, Dead Kennedys etc. HR has had Ill health, at least mentally for a long time and sadly with age our physical health can deteriorate too and sometimes as humans we can have underlying health conditions and not even know until they are triggered, case in point Robert Webb the comedian who had a valve fail and had to have emergency heart surgery. What was it Bette Davis said “Old Age Ain't No Place for Sissies.” Which is why old people say your health is the most important thing. They are not wrong.
