If they lie about their age, there’s nothing you could’ve done (except not messaging the minor in the first place). If you never asked, then I’d say that responsibility is on you to find out. Influencers, especially ones of Doc’s size, know how young their fanbases can be. It’s irresponsible to not ask. (I’d also say it’s irresponsible to be messaging fans like that in the first place, but that’s a bit more up for debate.)

It's because there's a lot of degrees to this thing. Sexting, say, a 16/17 year old, does not nearly put you in the same category of someone graping a 6 year old. In the first case there is no physical contact or exchange of graphic material, and it also involves someone in post/late adolescence, who has (nearly) fully developed secondary sexual features. The second case involves a serious physical boundary violation with someone who is pre-pubescent on top of that. It is both psychopathic as well as indicative of actual PDF, unlike the first case. A lot of people don't know this and so they avoid pictures for the sake of "keeping things legal" But it is true that grooming can be a legal grey area unfortunately. as for the original comment, doc also might not know that, he also just might not have had any formal accusations. It's because there's a lot of degrees to this thing. Sexting, say, a 16/17 year old, does not nearly put you in the same category of someone graping a 6 year old. In the first case there is no physical contact or exchange of graphic material, and it also involves someone in post/late adolescence, who has (nearly) fully developed secondary sexual features.
The second case involves a serious physical boundary violation with someone who is pre-pubescent on top of that. It is both psychopathic as well as indicative of actual PDF, unlike the first case.
The internet doesn't care about any of these subtleties and just groups the smaller fuckups together with the worst of the worst. Of course doc doesn't want to be grouped with the worst.

@@OLDmanBOB This is not always correct, it depends on your location (country/state by state etc), but inappropriate messages alone can be considered illegal even with no intent to meet up. A lot of people don't know this and so they avoid pictures for the sake of "keeping things legal" But it is true that grooming can be a legal grey area unfortunately.
as for the original comment, doc also might not know that, he also just might not have had any formal accusations. He might simply believe he did nothing wrong. Either way if I had been accused of this by anyone i'd be so extremely specific when saying I did nothing wrong and it's really weird that he's not super specific, offering the bare minimum each time.

Context matters a little bit I think. It's not uncommon to get teamed with younger kids in games. Obviously I'm not going to say anything inappropriate in that case, but I'm not going to suddenly become a mute either. That's a lot different than specifically reaching out to an individual in DMs

If they even try to move it in an inappropriate direction, it gets cut off immediately (luckily it’s never gotten to that) I also make sure the parent knows, especially if it’s at a studio or in a setting that’s not totally public/documented and even then security cameras are up for your own protection.
