Thank you, purchased an ipad mini 4 at a yard sale for $5 the lady couldn't remember the password and she insisted even after I told her how to unlock it but anyway I got a deal. Once I reset it to factory settings I couldn't get any apps on it, your video helped solve that issue. My goal is to use this one as my ereader device in grayscale and not have to buy an additional device for that. TH-cam is not working anymore in 9.3.5. I have both iPad 2 and 3 and it stopped working. Still not an official fix sadly. You have to use TH-cam on Safari meanwhile.

I know this trick already, but it will come a time when you can’t use the app. It happened to me with TH-cam.
I really hope this works! I have the first iPad mini in almost mint condition and I really only want to use it for reading, but my library app isn't supported on it since it's so old.... TH-cam doesn't even work on it anymore.... it just seems so wasteful to get a new iPad mini for reading when the one I have is in such good condition. I have a kindle that I'm super happy with, but I can't read library books on it (not supported here in Norway) so it would be so amazing to use my iPad mini for the library books.

Thanks for your video but on my Ipad 2 IOS 9.3.5, TH-cam even with process of yours, still doesn't work, doesn't open and always asks to update. Of course it does not update!

I managed to get Netflix doing this but none of the other apps I tried worked.
They either say you need a newer version of iOS and don’t give you the option to download an older version of the app. Or they allow you to download the older version of the app but then when you try to use it they ask you to up date your version, which of course isn’t possible.
It’s a great shame as the iPad is in very good condition but clearly now pretty much obsolete.

This didn't work on my ancient iPhone 4S until I turned back on Automatic Downloads (which I believe the default for this option is "On" but I had turned it off) and then only thru "Purchases." Thanks for the great tip. Saved the landfill from my phone (which I use as a radio, alarm clock, & audio book reader).

I walked into the Apple shop to see if I could get a credit for my old iPad mini. Of course not, so I asked if I should simply chuck it in the bin. The Apple store person offered to do that for me, but your video has saved my old iPad plus hundreds on spending on the latest iPad mini. Thank you.

i just bought an older refurbished IPAD and was getting ready to send it back until I came across your video. Awesome job explaining and demonstrating. The only thing I found that I had to do was the delete the current app on the other IPAD and reinstall under my icloud account so it would "GET" and "NOT UPDATE" the app. Thanks Again!

I lost my ipad mini sometime in 2017 and found it a few weeks ago. Thought I could use it and update the apps and iOS, but it was a no go. Was about to donate it to Goodwill until I saw this video. This is fucking useless to me and should have been titled "How to Use Your New Apple Device to Download Apps on your Old Apple Device".
Instead of signing out and back into another account, you can add the IPAD account as a family member on your compatible IOS device. After adding it, follow the same instructions as in the video but select the family purchases after clicking the purchased button on the bottom of the app store. This way as you add apps or want to add apps you can just put them on your compatible device and they will automatically show up on the purchase section of the IPAD.. select not on this IPAD

Man, the video might be amateurish... but Dude was it helpful. I happened to have sold my iPad a few months ago, because I really needed some cash, but I really missed it. My sister just gave me her old iPad mini 3 and I was super sad cuz I though I was just out of luck when I couldn't download anything to it (not even the stuff needed for a jailbreak haha). But because I had that other iPad with all the apps I needed, I happened to be able to just download them the exact way you just showed here and voila! now I can read my PDFs and study in this older but totally good iPad mini. What I don't understand is why the appstore wouldn't let me just download the app when I search for it, even though it's an app that I had already purchased before, yet by going to the purchased apps tab, I could download them from there just as you showed us here. Weird (or should I say, classic apple misleading and money hungry move)

I had an old iPad Mini 2012 which I wanted to convert into a Kindle device but the App Store wouldn't let me. Fortunately, my current iPad had Kindle installed, which worked on the Mini because the Apple ID is the same.

Anyways, I’ve followed your steps and it works for most of the apps. However on TH-cam is says “Update Required. You must update to continue” and it gave me two options to “Quit” or “Update”. Do you know any solutions to this? I’m on an iPad 2 currently on iOS 9.0

You guys are probably better to just bookmark the TH-cam website to the Home Screen and use it that way. That’s what I Did with my old iPad after I got the same message

I had a 10th gen iPad th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA . Felt it getting pretty slow at times even after doing a reset. So I am using that as a tablet for my 5 year old son and got this 9th gen version. MUCH faster, a little slimmer, smaller bezels, all around a leap forward. Plus, for the price that’s about $130-$150 cheaper than a current new model this is a nice deal. I look forward to the M-series CPUs coming into iPads which will really help future proof these tablets better but these latest CPUs are pretty strong and should do better to last several years with no compromises.

Sad to say, I have an iPad mini 2 which is halted at iOS 12.5 and my TH-cam app is telling me I must update to continue. Prompting 2 options, Quit or Update. When I get to the Apple Store, TH-cam says it requires iOS 14 or later. I have tried your method from the video and it does not work for me. I am afraid I do not know what to do with this iPad mini 2 as it was simply a TH-cam machine. Sigh. 😔
