    Hi Megan. I am 68 years old, i make genuine gemstone jewellery, have started a sterling silver course which i love and would like to expand with web sites, online etc. I have looked at other information online . YOU ARE THE BEST. I understand what you are talking about as you explain things in layman's terms. Even though i used a computer at work it was there programs and as i retired in 2017 i don't understand the jargon that is used. You explain things and i feel i can relate to you. WELL DONE you have got an oldie to consider signing up to your courses. Hopefully i will be in touch.
    All the best from the UK Brenda Hugill. xx

    Another great video! so many things to do/think/plan when you start, but I guess it's always good to remind ourselves that Rome wasn't build in one day. Growing organically is the way to go!

    Megan, I feel bad for complaining about your background music because I absolutely love your videos. I’m hard of hearing and have to wear headphones. Perhaps that’s my problem. Anyway, I’ve been designing jewelry for 10 years and I’ve learned a few things over time but you are teaching me much more! Thank you for what you’re doing!

      Hi Diane, I am really sorry about the music. I tried to put it really low in the last video for you. I'm glad to hear that you are finding the content valuable! P.s. in the academy with the in-depth 103 video tutorials, there is no music 😉 just straight up step-by-step guidance. If you're ever interested, you can book in a chat with me to hear more. Feel free to send me an email and we can go from there. X

    Hello from The Bahamas! Your points 1, 2 , 7, & 9 resonates with me. My environment is a bit different from yours. I own a storefront and do craft shows. My hope is to have a booth in an upcoming cruise port for 4 days of the week. In addition to my handmade jewellery I will be selling books I have published and other craft items. Thanks for the video!

    Megan, I watch all your content eagerly and with a mind open to learning. I have some thoughts/questions. Re:
    "Make sure you raise your prices as you go so people are getting a good quality product and.... so people have a good experience with working with you....". Huh?
    #6 Optimize your website - fantastic!
    #7 Good customer service - absolutely! (but why exactly "should" you outsource customer service)?
    And, I love #10, Make sure you know exactly where you're going! Yep, of course! Just check with Granny!

    • @megan.collins
      @megan.collins  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Firstly, thanks for watching as always. 😉
      In terms of raising your prices as you go. When we usually start we have less confidence and often start out pricing quite low as you may be still learning and things may not be made perfectly - another reason why you might price low at first. As time goes on you will likely be more skilled and will need to price higher if you want to make a living.
      Good customer service, yes for sure. But no need to outsource this. I meant if you build a large business, at some point you might want to outsource this. But by no means would this be the first thing to outsource!
      And yes if your granny can navigate your website that's great! Hahaha. Just my way of trying to say it needs to work well and not be over complicated 😉

    Scale up? Well, to cook tea for 5 people, 500 people or 5000 people, that is very different technology and method...
    And organic growth is so important, nothing kills small bussines faster than success and extremely boosted growth...

      Organic growth is super important, yes! Then go from there and change your systems and strategies accordingly

    Megan I’m not quite sure how this 1000 number applies to people who don’t make quicker made jewelry. for people who don’t make minimalist jewelry, compared to jewelry with multiple stones, prongs textures, mixed metals, many solder joints etc. I probably couldn’t make 1000 pieces of jewelry in my lifetime so some of us have started later. I mean the number 1000 has to vary depending on the type of jewelry. It takes a long time to make sone things. the fact you say the road to 1000 sales, it’s fir all types.

    • @megan.collins
      @megan.collins  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup, it sure will take longer if your jewellery is more complex. And that's one of the things to consider.
