The snare of MT Drum is best than EZD

+Canal do Daf On this one maybe, but the sets were not a correct comparison, because while the MT snare gives off a plain thud (as if the snare-spring has been removed), the EZDrummer has a loose-spring setting. However, at least EZDrummer has a choice of snare types.

The kick and snare on the MT cut through anything if mixed right. I have EZD, Superior Drummer and MT. I always end up using MT over Toontrack.

As a long-time user of both, here’s what I can tell you: You will have a much easier time with MT. EZ never seemed to sit right for me and ended up requiring additional work in this mix to make the drums either cut, or not clip. MT never has that problem. So, even though the samples do sound very nice in EZ on their own, within a mix you will notice you start losing things. That’s just my experience. Actually, it’s one of the ‘selling’ points that the makers of MT highlight on their website-samples that sit right every time.

Only problem I have with it is there is absolutely no variation in each hit. You either bang the hell out of the snare or you don't hit it at all. No in between.

U can humanize tempo of Hits in a vast amount of daw. Like reaper.
Also can confirm: mt Sounds Always the Point with extrem Punch. EZ.....did Not or If only with tons If additional mastering Work. So mt is my favorit

EZ Drummer sound more natural, nonetheless, you can get a very natural stuff froim MTDK2 if you export midi auios as WAV ones and process them as if you were recorded them.

Samples are very different. EZD samples in the video has very booming sound which I'd rather low shelf. Maybe you could have found a different set on EZD for the demo. Thanks.

MT kit is really good for a free plugin but EZD is champ here, no question about it.

call me insane, but i prefer MT's drum samples over EZD's and even SD's any day, for mere usability of the samples. i'd still prefer SD's cymbals over MT's though. granted you get more realism, customization and articulation from EZD's and SD's heavy multisampling compared to MT's, but having some plain "sound good" samples out of the box and for basically 1\10th of the file size and for free (!) is not something to underlook. great job manda audio!

This is also very important to say: MT is free and you have to download just 58 MB!!! EZ may have better sunds but is fucking heavy, it may slow down your PC ;)

Hey Guys, ...I am running PT 8 on Windows EP. I have installed MT Power Drum Kit and my system does recognize it. I can bring the MT up and view all the windows but I am not able to hear anything. My EZ drummer is accessed through Virtual Insturments...MT comes up under the "Other" drop down window. Suggestions?

Does MT not have velocity control if recorded live through a MIDI? I actually agree that the MT sounds are great...but they do sound very robotic without velocity control..

To the people saying they prefer MT, if you cant hear that MT sounds fake and robotic and EZD sounds more natural, dynamic, and more human....then obviously you wont appreciate EZD cos your ears aren't trained for it. My brother sent me a recording with MT drums and it sounded so robotic. I told him to try the EZD demo and it sounded so much better. Even if you cant hear the difference, be aware that others will.

Tl;dr: MT sounds good for metal, but not for "quiter" genres
I've been using MT Power DrumKit now for 2 years in metal and I love it. I play a lot with velocities, always humanize and avoid velocity 127 in the snare, hihats and tons, and it sounds amazing.
As everyone said, kicks and snare sound good in any genre. Cymbals and tons, however, are not realistic enough to fit some genres (e.g. neosoul, jazz or anything which requires smooth rides and crashes). Treatment with transient shapes and compressors usually help a lot. I might be transitioning to EZ Drummer because of the more realistic samples. In this example, the kick has this weak tail which goes very well in neosoul stuff, and the ride is smoother.

    • @irishRocker1

MT sounds fake and robotic to me. I noticed it cos my brother sent me a recording and it felt so robotic. I had used SD2 before and felt it shouldn't be like that but i guess for a free plugin that's what you get. The demos at the end, EZ sounded way more realistic and human. MT isn't even close

    • @chasealexander4009
      @chasealexander4009 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@irishRocker1 I now see what you mean about MT. I still think it sounds good but I was programming something a little faster (165 bpm) and the machine gunning on the snare sounded fake. However, it still sounds good at a reasonable speed and if you apply compression and fx it sounds even better. There are tons of examples on youtube of people using MT that sound realistic. I agree that the paid sims are better but it is still great to be free.
Another good free drum sim is the Sean Pandy drums in use with the Cymbalistic vst.

  • @drutgat2

    Thanks for this comparison.
A couple of things occurred to me as I was listening to and watching this.
First, although I have only recently (finally) downloaded and got MT Power Drum Kit 2 working, I prefer the kick sound on EZDrummer. And the snare.
Second, I do not know if you can undo the more springy / reverb-y sound of the snare on EZDrummer.
At least with MTPDK 2, the snare starts in a 'dry' mode, and one can add reverb to make it 'wet'.
I do prefer the default sounds of the EZDrummer kit overall (kick, snare, and cymbals), but suspect that MT Power Drum Kit 2 is more flexible in terms of snare and kick.

I've been using MT-PowerDrumKit2 and I think its better for my style. Ez drummer sounds too dirty for the type of music that i make. It would be a mud fest and I would have to EQ to hell to make it work. Never the less Ez drummer sounds more realistic and It would be so good for rock.

@@MELSOFF try separating your midi. I use 4 tracks for midi drums, bassdrum on its own, snare on its own, toms and cymbals. So I can eq each part on its own, get a clicky bass, a gunshot snare and nice and balanced toms and cymbals.
