- Football genius. Genuinely dual-sided. Reckon he's the only player I've seen who could regularly begin the action of a disposal before he'd picked the recipient, and still hit them lace out. By hand or foot. Up there with Matthews and Dunstall as the most consistently high performing Hawk ever.
One of the best Hawks ever, playing 2002-2016. - กีฬา
The selflessness, the underrated strength and power, the vision, the poise, the absolute unrivalled skill, geeeez, what a player
Underrated as a player
& absolutely Ruthless
He wanted to win
Was heavily tagged many times as well
Whilst being an
Absolute genius of a player
one of the best
Four flags, one as Captain, and a Brownlow. He's up there in the Pantheon of Hawthorn greats.
5 B&F's too.... 2nd only to Barney....He & Hodgey's finals records are right up there alongside of Matthews & knights.
Dodgy brownlow though. And tagged clean out of 2 grand finals.
@@skillsmachine9164 Dodgy? Nothing dodgy about it when the guy who finished first took performance enhancing drugs. And Sam finished fourth all time in Brownlow votes so it wasn't a fluke.
He stood up in 4 of the 5 Grand Finals he played in and the one he didn't Hawthorn won (2008) against the odds.
The Freo Grand Final he was told to stand in Sandilands tap zones and play defensive while being tagged (he had 7 tackles), which congested Freo's game plan and stopped easy clearances. It worked, the Hawks won.
@moistie lol yeah hes a gun just trolling you. But im not convinced those peptides were illegal anyway they weren't even on the banned list. None of the other bombers players form seemed to explode. Bit of an empty brownlow I mean...same as players winning it when a suspended player like Chris Grant or Corey mckernan ends up with more votes than you.
@@skillsmachine9164 Both AOD-9604 and thymosin were banned by WADA shortly after it was discovered Essendon were taking them. Just because they weren't listed at the time they were taking them doesn't make it legal or non-performance enhancing.
He could find a target from amywhere. Superb skills. To think...no other team wanted him. His season at Box Hill in 2001 was sublime. 11 games to win the Liston and went on to play a vital role for the Hawks over so many seasons. One of the greatest EVER in Brown and Gold. Legend!
Didn’t he poll 32/33 possible votes? Ridiculous
So quick & powerful over the first 15 metres
Finding gaps & breaking tackles
Underrated - imo should have been viewed as clearly the 2nd best midfielder of his generation.
He had Selwood, Dustin, Swan, Fyfe, and Judd all covered. (Judd was hot early then cooled, and Fyfe had injury and skill deficiencies). Mitchell just got better and better. Martin had a 4 year stretch when he was almost as good as L. Mathews - but 4 years aint long enough to be the best.
Must've been tough to keep Mitchell's highlights package down to only 19 minutes! Could've gone for hours! Another ripper, stemline. Thanks mate.
Excellent work with the highlights. Actual footage of what made the player great, instead of a video consisting of 30 instances of the player kicking a goal.
This deserves over a million views. Great package mate
these highlights are outrageous
Best player!
The quickest handballs ever. All Legal!
YES THIS IS WHATBIVE BEEN LOOKING FOR
was there ever a better player who could deliver the ball to a team mate on both sides of the body as good and as accurate as Sam Mitchell I THINK NOT
No
Yes. Another Hawk called Darren Jarman.
@scoldedcat as good as Jars was I would still put my money on Mitchell

I still don't know if hes preferred is left or right 😅
Yep so skilful either side
But he was a left footer apparently
You can't tell though
Pick #36
Never realised how slow he was on his feet. :) :) :)
Yet always had plenty of time and space
How long did it take to realise he was a left footer? Some never knew. didn't matter.
Meh- Good ordinary player; lol.
No. He was a gun.
@@richardbeal2451 He was indeed.
@@alansimmonds9030 Sorry Alan. My sarcasm detector was obviously not working - I thought you were serious for a moment there!. I'm glad we agree. A gun indeed.
Is this a reference to Wayne Carey? If so, good one.
