Great video enjoyed it lots. Wish you had shown more of the snake assuming you were brave enough. Was wondering how did the snake react to you and the bike falling near it. Did it move or sit still or get ready to attack. l am sorry about the mishapps especially the one with the kids. l mean you were being friendly and then that happened. Just one of those rides l guess. Better luck next time.
@@pinesadventures l see Well actually happened to us a few weeks back. Three of us riding up a hill. Evening light failing. Mountain bikes. My friend had a rather poor one, l have a reasonable one but its old the other friend who we met mid ride had the best bike and he came prepared. Lights and riding gear. We were just having a casual ride no such preparations. l was showing them a hill and until l met a big riding group coming from where we were heading, what l thought was my little secret. Anyway the hill is a dust road behind a very quiet village. lt is one of those long climbs may be 10 or so minutes of sustained climbing not too difficult at all really. As we were coming down l was in front, l assumed the guy we met would be second as he had the lights and better bike and my friend would be last because of his bike. Anyway on our way down l am flying down this hill and enjoying myself when out of the corner of my eye something came into view from my right sort of glossy black and it was moving on this like single car wide track. My first thoughts was l am going to hit this thing and its not going to be pretty was not sure l would evade it. So did my best to swerve and avoid it, whilst also shouting snake!!! So as soon as l had done that stopped to see who was behind me. All l saw was my friend who had overtaken the other guy coming tumbling down and the bike on top. l feared the worst. lf l had barely missed it, he must have hit and he could have been bitten. l heard the crash and the groans as he hit the ground. Next thing he came limping my way. First question was are you ok he was not had skinned his knee but he somehow had not been bitten. We did not see the snake it came from one bush and disappeared into another on the other side of the bush. l have not been there since that episode except once and l made sure it was broad daylight. We eventually got home which was an hour or so later. MY friend limped for a few days but all things told, it could have been much worse. So when you said snake l was really keen given my close call.
Haha! Awesome story! We've had some snake encounters as well in the past! Go check out my first video titled The Great african Expedition. I was still a bit new to editing and didn't have a mic yet but near the end we also find a snake at our final camping spot. But off course we were daring each other to grab its tail but once we got to it it suddenly started sailing really fast. It wasn't very big and was your typical "Boomslang" but haha was lots of fun! This trip however I just messed up and I was joking with me fellow riders that there had been a "snake". So it was more of an inside joke among us xD maybe I should change the title! What do you think?
It all depends on your budget and how much tar you’ll be doing in between dirt roads. So we always try to ride as much dirt as possible. Really only going on tar when we need fuel. So that eliminates most dual tires. Now most of the riders always use Karoo 3s. Excellent tyre for grip but the compound is very soft so if you ride aggressively you’ll get about 2-3k kilometers out of it. I like to use motoz in the back and the ax41 battle axe or tkc in the front, compound is a bit harder so grip isn’t as good but range is more than double. So if your someone who is very performance driven and budget isn’t a problem go for the softer compound. And if otherwise check out motoz and ax41!
Holy shit those wide Plains on Day 2 are something else. Nothing like this in Europe.
Glad you enjoyed it!!!

Haha no I was just joking. The fall was me slamming into a dip and casing my bike, sending me over the handlebar, I edited in a snake as a joke :)

What’s your preferred tire for trips like these?
