    Thank you for this demo, I have a Gladio coming at the end of the month and I have no idea how I'm going to use the two channels. This is the best "setup" style demo on the Tube, thank you! I have a JHS Double Barrel and it's really obvious how to use it (Bluesbreaker + Tubescreamer), but the Cornerstone web page doesn't really give you a lot of "how to." Thanks again!

    That is one of the most incredible petals I’ve ever heard. That is 100% the Dumble tone. And the stacked channels really captured that saturated it clear Dumble sustain - without any fizz. It really cuts through but it still seems transparent. And of course as always you’re playing is fantastic. You do such a great job demoing these pedals - thanks so much!

      I own one and I like it more than my King of Tone, Protein and everything other drive I own lol it’s obviously different than the King of Tone but I also compared to the J Rockett The Dude and the Vertex Ultra Phonix and HRM. While all of the aforementioned pedals are really great pedals, the Gladio seems to be the next level. I’m shocked at how great it is. So glad I bought one. Definitely did not regret spending the money.

  • @NINEWALKING
    @NINEWALKING 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I got mine few weeks ago. It is really great but it requires you to find out what works and what does not. It's awesome pedal and when you find It's sweet spot It's magical. At sweet spot it's very analytical and will show true character of your pickups. It needs enough volume level on the pedal to do that. Volume will act as boost. It does it great. So lower gain and more Volume works epic in the on the edge of the break up amp. It reacts amp like. It works also as only gain structure into clean amp, but then amount of the gain is up to your taste. Personally I mostly use low output vintage pickups. With the single coil pickups gain is good and for me can go up to 12 o'clock. Though I rather have it between 9 and 12. With very loud guitar with low output humbuckers I find gain nice between 8 and 10 or alternatively for higher compression drives around 1 o'clock. What it doesn't do is to keep the gain and tone in situation where you want to use pedals level to keep the tone but lower overall output to very quiet bedroom level. Most other pedals do this but this one is true to It's preamp name and requires some Volume to make a tone and gain structure. Similar how you need to reach certain volume level on the tube amp that you start getting awesome tone out of it. Without needed level it will sound like way cheaper pedals. But with enough volume level it will bring you true happiness. It changes so much that it's funny. If you do not find good spot you will be disappointed big time. But when you find it you will be like is this same pedal? It loves EP Booster in it. Even with min setting on it (+3 dB) it brings even more life into the picture. Pedal has enough dynamic that will award you and compliment high dynamic amps. With great amp it will sound visceral and will bring out best out of the amp. On lot of overdrive pedals when you switch between neck and bridge humbucker on LP style guitar you will hear mostly EQ difference. Neck will be more bass heavy and bridge will cut more. Clean you will hear essential difference between them that you will lose in overdrive sounds of most of the pedals. With Gladio DC you will still be able to hear the character of the each pickup but with nice overdrive on top of it. Something really refreshing. This is great pedal to integrate in high end system. It will not ruin the fidelity and character of your guitar or amp it will just provide nice overdrive. If you you lover the volume on the pedal to much it will lose it's magic and sound will not be alive as before. I love it. In room with real beast of the boutique amp working at higher sound levels it will bring you closest one can get without getting 40 plus K $ and getting a real thing.

    A few nice Robben licks in there. And a lot of great Tubbs-isms. Pedal sounds heavier than some others of the Dumble-esque ilk, like the Ethos or Fuchs, even the Zendrive. Matter of taste I guess. Sounded more like Pete Townsend tones to me than Robben/Eric. Still, nice box. Very thick overall. Certainly can get some Talk To Your Daughter stuff out of it. Nice dual channel. Another to add to the never ending list of pedals to own lol. Some dual HB examples would have been nice to visit.

    Unreal as usual Tubbs! Intro was just outstanding. Still waiting for you and Thorn to create the next dual guitar supergroup. Just sayin...

    Love your videos and reviews and playing! I know you used Fractal on one of your tours. Do you still use it? I was just wondering if you will ever do a video on some of those sounds. Thanks man

      Thanks so much! I only used Fractal for the Story Teller tour with CU. Management purchased all of the Fractals that the band used for that tour so I no longer have access to one.

    Bout had a stroke when you said "I have the amp set really clean" plays..... slight break up. Obviously I get it, because you go straight to the neck and show it's your humbucker..... but, it's like when I was a kid and I'd tell my mom that my room was clean, then she'd come in and point out umpteen things wrong that needed more cleaning. I love dumbles's 70 style knobs and love when pedals use them. I wonder what this will do for you when going direct or if you're ever in a situation where you have to use a lesser amp or god forbid hook into a PA. Thanks for the video

      Hi Michael, actually the Gladio is not designed to go straight into the PA since it doesn't have a power amp/cabinet simulation built in. As Shawn correctly mentioned, the pedal is called "preamp" since our intention is to offer an amp-like feel as much realistic as possible...

      @@cornerstonegear Thank you very much for reaching out and clarifying that. Regardless, NICE pedal! It really seems to me to have the market "cornered" on a very genuine reproduction of the Eric Johnson Dumble tone compared to other products I own, have tested, or have researched. Thanks again. One more thing.... If you guys come out with an EQ pedal or something you can really shape your tone with, you should call it "The Mason" and put a square and compass on it.... or if it's a dual channel then have one side the square side and one side the compass

    What’s not shown on the video is the glass of ice water that Shawn uses to cool his fingers off after those licks 🔥 🧊

    I have some questions. Please answer me.
    On V1 i can see switch (I>II and II>I).
    1. Can you tell me difference between Gladio V1 i V2?
    2. What is combination on V2 (I>II or II>I)?
    3. Does version 2 have internal trim pots?
    THANKS

      I've only had experience with version II. Go to www.cornerstonegear.it/products/gladio and use the ENQUIRY tab to get an answer from the source.

    Hi Shawn! I got a question if you don't mind. Since you are a long time The Dude user, could you tell how do they compare and why would someone chose one over the other? I hope you are safe during these difficult times, thanks!

    • @ShawnTubbs
      @ShawnTubbs  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Dude is a great sounding pedal. It's modeled after Robben Ford's Dumble so it has that sound. The Gladio is a bit broader in scope as a Dumble style pedal and the fact that it's a two-channel makes it pretty versatile but there's a price difference to keep in mind. If you have the means and need a two-channel pedal go with the Gladio. If you're after a great sounding Robben Ford style Dumble sound and don't need the switching then get the DUDE. Thanks for the question and I hope you're staying safe and healthy.
