I never realized that this is exactly the way my mom applies makeup. Matte skin, red blush on her eyelids, black pencil, the lip contour etc...she had me in 1992 and I guess she found her signature makeup in that time

I agree! It's like she can have a very pared-down makeup kit when recreating these looks because she is honestly and truly an artist. Like any other talented painter, she understands the concepts of bone structure and is able to manipulate it through shade and light techniques, blending, pigment placement, and of course her amazing attention to detail; thusly, she only needs a few items to nail it!
