    In Victoria it is easier to get a pilots license that it is to get a firearms license. Because grandma runs the state and believes that all guns are bad.

    Very helpful mate, I just have one question, I Don't have a passport or birth certificate, I do have a Victorian drivers license and other documents as ID but none of the "Primary" forms they require, I can easily make up the 100 points with secondary forms of ID but is it even worth lodging my application if I don't have one of the stated "Primary" forms of ID?

      Hi Darren,
      I'm not sure of what to do there. Perhaps you could get a statutory declaration as evidence of identity. Best thing to do would be to ring the registry or perhaps drop in to the local police station

    Great help, cheers! One question though, how is it possible to submit your license application and permit to acquire at the same time?
    On the permits to acquire you need to enter your license number, but as you are sending the license application at the same time you don’t have one yet

    • @HuntandFish

      Leave any details you don't have due to not having a licence blank. They will process at the same time

    Hey Ledge just had a question for you. I'm about to start applying for my gun license and just wanted some more clarification on the 28 days cooling-off period on the first permit to acquire and how to bundle it into the Gun license application process. Ive read a few sites saying that basically we go for our first permit to accquire/ purchase of the first firearm when we submit our Gun license application online, and other sites saying that once we get the invoice to bpay or when get got to vicroads to take a photo thats when we got to purchase that first firearm. could you please clarify this process? Cheers mate!

    • @HuntandFish
      @HuntandFish  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Robby,
      The PTA is a separate form to the licence. You can lodge the PTA and the licence at the same time so you don't have to wait 28 days twice. The 28 days starts from when you pay for your licence

    • @robbyrazzer
      @robbyrazzer 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HuntandFish Thank you so much for the insight there! i just found the PTA PDF form (www.police.vic.gov.au/firearms-forms-and-reference-information) and i just wanted to confirm, as i will be planning on lodging the PTA at the same time as my licence, the licence number would be left blank on the PTA is that correct? and lastly is this PDF form attached apart of the online App for the license or would it be posted? thank you once again

    • @robbyrazzer
      @robbyrazzer 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jaydenjames5882 hey jayden, ive gone thru the process and because the application form is now online you can't actually submit the PTA with the app (as I was instructed by the firearms store and DFO). So its submit the app first then its a 28 day waiting period for processing then you get a blue payment/picture form , that's the form you can use to get your PTA at the earliest. Then once you submit the PTA app its another 28 days.... so technically 28 days period, hope I helped a bit

    instead of joining a hunting club, one of the other reasons they allow is if you own or if someone you know gives you permission to hunt on their land of sufficient size in a regional/rural area, so is it really necessary to join someone like SSAA or can I use the rural land reason?

    • @HuntandFish

    This licensing procedure is such an absolute pain in the ass for people wanting to get into air rifles. I mean, why on Earth do people who want to own an air gun need to go through the exact same licensing procedure that people who want to own a shotgun do? With the exact same storage requirements as a real firearm too?! Wtf
    Clearly the goal of all this is to discourage people from getting into this it as a hobby. It worked for me, way too much effort to even bother.

    • @HuntandFish
      @HuntandFish  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it's s bit of a pain but you only have to do it once.
      Once you get your air rifle you might find you want to get a rimfire or centrefire and you will already be licensed.
      Just make sure you apply for A and B categories when you do it.
