As a Jaime fan from way back in 2008; I'm just happy we got what we got. Especially when its this good and ESPECIALLY after the recent reprint trades brought Jaime's best run back into the spotlight and can serve as a prequel to Graduation Day and the current ongoing.

Awww man: I loved the book. I’ve been a fan of Blue Beetle since DC Ted Kord. I loved Jaime even more! I supported all his series ( though not a big fan of the new 52 version) I loved this series to death. But there are two reasons for the cancellation. The story may not have been focused enough to hook readers. The mini series was tightly focused around a plot of the other bugs showing up. The new series had too many subplots. The first story should have been a tightly wound story about a non-alien threat that Beetle and Company had to face. That way get the idea of their power and personality and why they are bad asses. The second reason is this book is based on the movie, that wasn’t a hit (although it’s becoming a cult classic) with the new cartoon may have a better take on the character and they do not want a conflict.
Great video! I don’t think it’s about the Blue Beetle fandom (which is pretty small). This book had a virtually unknown creative team. Most of the interest people express online for non-white characters is performative and they hold their books to a higher standard. As much cultural authenticity as these creators lent to the title, if Geoff Johns or Chip Zdarsky were writing people would show up and give the story more grace for pacing issues, art changes, etc. People would buy the book just for the team. DC and Marvel need to go above and beyond to make nonwhite characters even remotely competitive which sucks

The problem is they've been trying to make Blue beetle a major character for a long time even before Jaime Reyes Ted Kord which Ted Kord what's the most popular all the Blue Beatles and then remember how they killed off the fan favorite Blue beetle and then replace them with Jaime Reyes it just turned a lot of people off. Even though Jaime Reyes is a good character most people don't care because they feel like he was sort of a diversity higher to replace Ted Cord. And then the reason why they did this book was only because of the Blue beetle movie and when they did a vote and they asked people did they want to see a Blue beetle book a lot of people said no and yet they still threw it out there So if your audience already told you they didn't want the book and you still do it anyway and then you do a movie about movie though but you don't do the one that a lot of the DC fans wanted you kind of screwed yourself with this character. Plus if you really wanted him to be important he might need to show up and you know some of the main books you might need to have them show up on in Wonder Woman Superman Batman Titans book or whatever just to get people be like oh okay let me go and read the Blue beetle book you know You got to make the continuity and the universe more connected and when you don't do stuff like that people tend to don't want to read a book. 😅
This comment doesn't make much sense considering Jamie was introduced back in 2005, way before the media industry ever became obsessed with diversity hires and political correctness. And Ted Kord was big, a great character but Jamie has been the face of the mantle ever since. To say he isn't the fan favorite or most popular is lunacy as he's been a main character and well enjoyed in the most projects that would Garner casual and wide spread attention from the masses. Like disregarding the live action movie he's had Batman the Brave and the Bold. GENUINELY all of Season 2 of Young Justice just being about HIM and Kaji-Dah, the animated Titans movies, and Injustice 2. For the casuals and those who have followed DC in the past 2 decades, they know him as THE blue beetle and he is well liked by those that know of him. I blame DC, he was getting pushed early on and had some great content worthy of attention but as of late they just kinda fucked off the character for no real reason. Didn't wanna push him didn't wanna market him and then threw a random ass movie that was *alright* in its own right, with equally shit to non existent marketing and pushing. I mean DC can't expect people to GAF when they themselves aren't willing to GAF even if the contents good
Put Jaime back on the teen titans. Done. Problem solved. He works best when he’s bouncing off other heroes. His interactions with the characters on Batman the brave and the bold and the young justice shows is what should be depicted in the comics.
I don’t even think The Teen titans are a thing anymore lol. But I do agree that he does shine with other heroes. I still think his series was a step in the right direction though! Thanks for commenting dawg!

I honestly think Xolo’s version would have been better received if he had debuted in a teen titans movie first before getting a solo project. ( but James Gunn did say that there’s going to be a blue Beetle animated series.)

Blue Beetle is a side character. He can’t hold his own in a long term series like Batman or Superman
Yeah that's another harsh truth I'm starting to realize. Maybe mini/Maxi's are the way to go for characters like him smh.
