They actually did the thing from the book for this one in IT2017. Pennywise makes his eyes blue, like georgie's mother, to make him feel at ease.
True true
Tim Curry is actually terrified of clowns and when playing Pennywise in IT insisted on no mirrors while on set he didn't want to see himself in the makeup
Crazy...
And I’m reading It right now with my phobia of clowns.
Jared Jams yes. It scares me.

Holy shit. The 1990s IT mini series isn't scary, it's more funny. I mean a clown with the had of a dog and did u notice that other people who have responded to u have pennywise as their profile pic
I had always thought the _"they float"_ meant, dead bodies floating in water, not like, floating around in the middle of the air.
i envisioned it as their spirits floating in a place inside 'It' or some kind of alternate dimension.
The book explained better and the mini series didn't make it clear.
This is exactly what I thought too.
that realy does make more sence doesnt it

Director Andy Muschietti kept Bill Skarsgård separate from the child actors up until they had to shoot scenes together. On the day of their first scenes together, the production staff warned the kids about how scary Skarsgård could be while in character. The kids brushed this off, claiming that they knew he was just an actor in a costume and that they were professionals and would be fine. However, when the time came for Skarsgård to be Pennywise for the scene, the kids were genuinely terrified.
I think he even made the kid playing Georgie cry at some point.
I still can't believe people fell for that

Doug does raise some fair points. I’ve worked at a horror attraction as a clown for many years. Often times I start with the scary and if they aren’t biting I transition into funny. Clowns aren’t strictly scary, and the Pennywise persona is as much about being scary as it is about being funny and inviting. Usually if someone doesn’t find me scary I lull them into a false sense of security so a Co-Worker can scare them. Good horror works well when people either aren’t expecting it or are lulled into the security before the scare happens.
Phillip Cozzi gets it.
👍
It's kind of how I preferred Tim Curry as Pennywise as he was a clown that was scary as opposed to the new one which is the other way round
there was a handed corn maze that I went to a few years back and the clown figured out that I am bad about clowns, and proceeded to offer me a balloon while covered in blood and grinning his ass off. way worse then when he was running and yelling.
@Phillip Cozzi yes, definitely. This is my first year working as a clown (we just finished up the season) and I figured out about half way through the season that it's good to be scary and funny, depending on the situation. It's good to lure them into a sense of security before scaring them with something more frightening.
This whole thing is a reference to a Batman animated series episode called I think "almost got em"
Both open with a poker/card playing game
Both involve villans arguing about one topic
Both have a plot twist at the end. Nostalgia critic being the joker and in the show Batman being killer croc
That episode just so happens to be nostalgia critic's favorite in the whole series
And animated joker made a cameo
I imagine that 90% of you already know this so thanks for reading
Oh I almost forgot when they say "I almost got it" it's a reference to the line in the episode where the villan s say "I almost got him" aka Batman
Also it is hinted that nostalgia critic is the joker during the part where nostalgia critic walks in because it's similar to how the joker makes his entrance in the episode.
Sorry for the wall of text
I don't think it can be helped. Cool that you spotted the reference and pointed it out.

Brilchan hello

no they’ve actually been doing this with their reviews for a while, it really is because of copyright.
the companies have tried to claim that stuff for a while.
That's part of the reason they do it for brand new movies, but they've also done it for films like Hocus Pocus (which is 20 years old) becaue yeah... they're worried about copyright strikes. Otherwise they'd just wait the three or four months for the dvd before doing the review.
The sad thing is that the movie industry still attacks Doug Walker's work even though the performance and sets are his and his team.
As a person who lives in Maine I can guarantee you that why they didn’t go to a hospital is because if you’re in a small town the nearest hospital is about 40 minutes away in all directions

Initially (in both the book and the movie) Georgie was wary of Pennywise as he should have been. Then... Pennywise changes his eyes to look like Georgie's mother's to make him feel more comfortable on a subconscious level.
That actually happened in the film. His eyes start out yellow and than go blue.

Hey, it's funny u mentioned that, because I'm watching the making of It just to make sure. My bad if I'm wrong!
I thought the jump scares in IT worked perfectly because Pennywise, the character, is all about using cheesy amusement park scares to freak kids out. There was even a point in the book where it stated that Pennywise goes mostly after little children because they're so easy to scare. Scaring teens and adults requires psychological horror, which IT isn't nearly as good at, though he is learning from the town of Derry and its inhabitants.
Pennywise uses over-the-top, cheesy scares in order to make the children think they must be dreaming and let down their defenses. Several child victims in the book don't even attempt to escape, and actually walk TOWARDS the danger, because they don't think it's real.
Agreed. I would also point out for that the miniseries had its fair share of jumpscares. In IT 2017 the things jumping out at the kids were things they were scared of so it worked on a psychological level. If someone is scared of spiders then seeing one is going to unsettle them but if a spider suddenly darts towards then that is going to f them right up.
Who went towards IT? Eddie Cochran tried to run away and tripped, Patrick got surprised by leeches in the fridge, I don't remember anything like that.
Earthangelo the book dumbass, he was talking about the book.
Earthangelo Georgie, for one. In the book and miniseries he didn’t even question what a clown was doing in the sewers.

@@Anonomius0 what happened in the book that was so inappropiate? Did they have a threesome or what?
You know, having re-watched this review multiple times I have an idea as to how they could've possibly made the leper scene a bit more scary. When the blurred focus becomes the reveal of the leper it shows him in a much more severe stage of the disease and even progressively has pieces of him falling off, then his flesh melts off as he chases after Eddie.
Once Eddie thinks he can stop to rest and thinks he has gotten away, he sees a broken off hand latched to his shoulder and progressively gripping onto him as he tries to pull it off. The hand tries to grab Eddie by the throat and he fights to keep it off of him, having it eventually fall as though dead. I feel like that would be at least somewhat more likely to get some scares.
It's like Americans have never seen 80s Italian horror....
@@Backinblackbunny009 I don't know if he was still working in the 80's or not, but I've heard the name Lucio Fulci and how he often includes damage to the eyes as part of his scares in his movies. I like to call it Ocular Horror. There's probably already a much better official name for it, but I still like how it sounds lol
In the book, the Leper actually tries to rape Eddie. When the Leper sees Eddie he says "I'll suck your dick for a dime." And when Eddie refuses he says "I'll do it for free." and tries to grab him. The movie cut out a lot of sexual assault and violence that was in the book. I don't blame the film makers though, an accurate movie version of the book would be NC-17 if they were lucky and likely would be banned in half of the world. King really likes his horrifically detailed depictions of violence against women and children. They make the book so hard to read but really do create the tone that makes his books stand out.
Personally, I’d take the opposite approach. Have it build up towards a scare but then reveal a harmless if not disheveled homeless person. Eddie declines out of Germophobia and the homeless person begins to heckle Eddie, seemingly offended. As Eddie tries to walk away faster and faster, THAT’S when the homeless person begins slowly deteriorating while still berating Eddie before grabbing his shoulder to reveal the face from the finished film. Eddie screams and runs while the homeless man stands still and laughs before the Pennywise reveal. You ramp up the tension, reinforce themes of stranger danger and make the audience question whether or not this threat is from Pennywise or Derry.
@@RockySamson I have to admit, that would be pretty awesome :D Good thinking! :)

This was a very fair and well-expressed critique of the new film. As much as I loved It (the film), Doug made some great points and it never felt like he was being condescending or nitpicking. This was an amazing review. And I don't care what anyone says, I thought the skits throughout were great :)
The skits are always great imo
My mom loves it too
saves us money from going to theatres
I liked this movie, but Doug makes a good Pennywise.
I love how Henry Bowers is petting a toy dog with a knife.
Tamara: You _will_ be seeing something scary tonight... opinions.
Crowd: **collective groaning**
Some guy in the back: *_O H M Y G A A A W D_*
24:10 Aww, props to Jason. Won't kiss another woman other than Jori, even if it's just acting.

@@Tyler171819 you don't want to know.. But basically they think they have to do an orgy with her to get out of the sewer but after it happens they remember the way out.
@@hazbinotakusimp2182 mhm.
I noticed that in the scene where the Token Club is beating up Pennywise/Doug, Walter's "Bill" wig keeps moving around and he eventually throws the wig at Pennywise. That's hilarious!
the reason why bill sees bev walk in slow mo after seeing her in the drug store is because he sees her in a new light he sees her not a random girl in town but a kind enough soul to help them so he sees her in slow mo after
well i never seen many of my comments have likes thx

That's a pretty nice observation.
That's a convoluted as heck explanation.

"We're not supposed to be funny!"
"WE'RE FRIGGIN CLOWNS!" X)
That part was hilarious
That's what I said the first time I saw Heath Ledger's Joker and said I found him joyless. My teacher said he wasn't supposed to be funny and I'm just like...but he's a clown...
Fun fact, clowns were never sposed to be funny.
I actually loved how Tim Curry’s Pennywise was portrayed in this review. His line delivery is fucking hilarious.
I love Doug walkers portrayal of the Pennywise clowns. So glad he brought them for Chapter two review.
Doug your pennywise impression isn’t that bad. It’s actually pretty good!
Yeah I've noticed hes pretty good with impressions!
I just now notice that Bill throws his wig at Pennywise at 24:34
Hahaha! I noticed!😂
And tamera looking shocked as she notices it
How different would Batman the animated series would've been if Tim Curry played the Joker?
Giovanni Orellana that would be AMAZING!!
Bronchitis!
Speaking of BTAS, I can’t wait for the full series on Blu Ray next year
Giovanni Orellana Hell
+Giovanni Orellana Every time he laughed, he would go, "WA HA, WA HA, WA HA!"

Me: Is that why the Lorax starts in front of red curtains?
Tomboy Alyssa definitely
I wheezed when I read this.
It's a Frankenstein reference
Nah, that is when the first Simpsons Halloween special was shown.
Nostalgia critic arguing with the two ITs gives me life

"What are you? Big chicken? Chiiip chip chip chip"
Am I the only one wondering who actually won the card game?
Moss won.
Only humanity lost.
6:17 "This guy couldn't lure awkward fanart to Tumblr!"
Oh, you sweet innocent child. You have not delved deep enough into Tumblr, clearly.
Can we just admire the fact that how Henry is portrayed in this video is EXACTLY how he looks in Chapter 2?
The line delivery on the Joker was fantastic! Great job Rob(?)!
“Ronald Horror Picture Show”
O O F, that’s some nice writing.

My cell phone was stolen on the day when I saw IT in theatre. I always had the fear of losing my phone.
Pennywise did it!
Meh ! What??
how old are you? it is rated R because the movie it is appropriate for ages 15+
the 1990 one is 14+ and it 1990 is NR
the 2017 one is 15+ the 2017 one is rated R
"This feels Self Defeating"
Well played Malcolm, well played
Personally I think that was best out of nowhere line. Genuinely genius
I love how distinguished he sounds.
what part was that?
This guy is buying likes right? He always has several unfunny comments at the top of every nostalgia critic video.
I literally laughed out loud for that :)
4:48 I was half expecting to see Doug put out a massive-ass book titled "Things Wrong with It (2017)". That would have been the ultimate comeback.
Trygve Plaustrum OMG yes!!! right along with the trash bag titled "things wrong with the smurfs movie"
Same!
25:15
Wait that was real? I thought that was just a joke from the Maximum Overdrive review. Note to self, get IT book
Okay, seriously, all the people in the comments pissing and moaning about the shooting joke in the comment section, just shut up.
He obviously wrote the joke before it happened, the joke was pretty hilarious, and frankly, you are being way too sensitive. Doug has always shown himself to be a very progressive person, he obviously didn't mean anything by including that joke. Back off.
Johan Eriksson so how long is long enough? A week? a month? A year?
Is 29 days poor taste but 31 days okay?
If a joke about a tragedy isnt okay then it should be NEVER OKAY even after 100 years.
Those people still died. Whats the difference between a couple extra days?
The review was probably written and filmed before the shooting happened. They have written on twitter about it for over a month now so it was probably too late to redo that scene. On top of that Channel Awesome has viewers internationally. Other countries won't instantly think of the shooting. I know I didn't. I just thought it was a funny scene and made me think of the Simpsons. What happened was horrible but you can't just assume that someone is being insensitive because they make a joke that is loosely connected to a tragic event.
Exactly, so you might as well joke about it now!
I hate when people just go on patrol for shit to be triggered about---what must they be like irl if they're this annoying over everything else while people are just trying to enjoy things? Its pointless and totally Flipping stupid.
Jorencice Are you also offended by Hindenburg and Titanic jokes then? Not to mention to mention thousands of people have died from shoot outs, alcohol poisoning and hostage situations, all things that have been in other videos. I don't see people complaining in those videos.
“But you don’t feed off their dumbs”...🤣
Doug's 2017 Pennywise impersonation is fucking GOLD.
Sounded like raspy version of Chester A Bum to me
