In this video, we take a look at how to disassemble a Jandy CL series filter and clean the cartridges. If you have a check flow, low flow, or no flow error on your salt system, one of the first things you should check is to make sure your filter is clean. Dirty filter cartridges will reduce the flow of water through your system and can cause salt systems to stop producing chlorine.

Thanks for the video -- very helpful! By the way, the clamp instructions are printed right on the side of the clamp, and they say they the two clamp halves *should touch* or have no more than 1/6" gap between them. This is contrary to what you said at the 8:55 mark.
Thank you. Extremely helpful.
You're welcome!
Do you recommend this Jandy filter over Pentair or WaterWay?
Do you add back DE to the filter?
The Jandy CL model is a cartridge filter and does not require DE powder. Jandy's DEV an DEL models are DE filters and look similar to the CL (and CV) series.

Pls help. I have been struggling to close my Jandy filter clamp after cleaning my grids and cartridges. (I’m a pool man)
Today, I’ve spent 3.5 hours trying to close the gap between the clamp so I can place the bolt/screw back on. Finally I had to use my channel locks to forcefully squeeze the gaps together. In my opinion, this should never happen. So what am I doing wrong? Pls help.
Clean the surfaces and the o-ring, lubricate everything and wiggle the top of the filter to and fro while pushing down on it for it to seat properly. Tamping the lock ring with a rubber mallet as you tighten it should also help.
Should you have opened pressure valve on the top before opening filter ?
Yes, we should have shown that in the beginning, as it is a very important part of the process. We'll be sure to do that in future videos.
and while you fill it up.
Hayward says do not use lubricant on o ring and pentair and jandy do not stare either way…when listing steps they just say clean the oring
Does this R0554500 filter need GE?
Jandy cartridge number R0554500 is for cartridge filters, it does not require DE powder.
@@Inyopools thank you sooooooooooo much!
Does a cartridge filter need General Electric?Thats a question about cartridge filters I have never heard in twenty five years in pool business you hear something new everyday thanks for the laugh!!
@@79SteelyMatt DE* You know what I meant
I know I was just humoured by it no harm intended, just my weak attempt at pool terminology humour
What is the purpose of the pvc piece on the top of the manifold?
I believe it is just a spacer, that prevents the cartridge manifold from lifting out of place.
