i just saw John Fullbright in La Veta, Colorado on his way back home from a tour. I realized after watching him live that I'd seen him in this clip. He is so talented on keyboards, vocally, and with the guitar and harmonica. He did a tribute to Townes. What an amazingly talented musician!!
This was my favorite song on my first Townes LP (they were hard to get where I lived in Germany, it's a small wonder I even knew about Townes back then) This version is incredible.
I'm a good ol boy from TEXAS, 37 years old, life long TEXAN, several years ago I had the pleasure of getting to stay in Raton, the finest of housing establishments, county jail. Love ya Robert, but to the HELL with raton
I have been all over the southwest, often times checking out western wear stores. In my opinion the best western store is in Raton. Not an advertisement not even telling you the name

Wow! As good as I've heard and seen with Robert Earl.
John Fullbright's 15 second harp solo gives me chills every single time. A wonderful and timeless song right there.

Talented band. Robert Earl's gravelly voice plus John Fullbright. What a tour party.
This is my favorite TVZ song, and this version is absolutely fantastic.
What a beautiful way to keep this song alive and well...........
40,000 views? TH-cam is broken, I've watched it more than 40,000 times !
REK !
That was so good there simply are no words
Poetry. Townes was a genius. No singer has made me say "wow" so many times after actually listening to the words.
So many great musicians!
What a pretty arrangement. Just lovely...
Once i have thought I have heard the best REK song, I find a video like this.
This is beautiful rest in peace Big Book!
It's a Townes Van Zandt song.
This song has special appeal to me, since as a trucker l once crossed Raton in an intense blizzard!
Just lovely! Makes me teary!
Townes Van Zandt lives!
'Forever' . I have his 'At My Windows' album, to me it is 'Priceless' Would never part with it.
Very nice, thanks.
Nice bunch. John Fullbrigt impresses more and more.
Great version of a great song
This is how you make magic. Some songs take up residence in your head and never leave. I hate snow but on Raton I would have to rethink it.
Stupendous, marvelous. #Townes
Robert Earl Keen looks sharp in that linen suit.
rek's THE BEST...
Townes songbook is big like the Hank Williams one.

36 comments? What is happening to us? I'm 37...etown is neccessary for cryin' out loud.
My favorite version of this song is the one that Townes did with Blaze Foley. I was lucky enough to meet them not too long before Blaze was murdered.
Wow. Lucky
Nice to know that you think your Version holds equal weight to Townes
Yea right! Townes sang it way better!!
What is a rehersal?🤔
if this don't make you lonely well...
bong bong bong. clock strikes midnight. adios.
4 people are obviously pop fans.
O .....fuck'in love you guys,,I know ya whan'ta ..............
Weird how Robert Earl had to act like he was thinking of a song instead of just giving credit to Townes.
Equal weight you say??? What a rube
Equal weight? Not even close. Townes’ music will always have more weight!
Now you got me pissed off. Stumbled on this. This song does ZERO JUSTICE to Townes’ version.
