I've just unwrap timecode to activate links - Navigate backward 03:55 - Solution Explorer tips 04:55 - Editor context menu (Alt + `) 06:40 - Keyboard command mapping 09:30 - Right-click on .sln, Open With 13:00 - Clipboard History (Ctrl + Shift + V) 14:10 - Go to recent files (Ctrl + T + R) 15:10 - Go to last edit location (Ctrl + Shift + Backspace)15:20 - Multi-caret editing 16:10 - Using Git in Team Explorer 19:00 - Code snippets (Ctrl + K, Ctrl + X) 24:55
Great video. Well focused and presented. I already knew a lot of this stuff, but picked up several very useful things that were new to me. Quick jumping to Team Explorer and editing in the diff window for example.
The tick ´ is called Acute accent (or "accent aigu" in French) and backtick ` is Grave accent (or "accent grave" in French). And while on the topic, the hat ^ is called Circumflex (or "accent circonflexe" in French).
24:10 I assume that's "OOBE", for "out of box experience"; no installing extensions or third party utilities to get the diff feature, it's already there on first start. Another fantastic video! I always learn something when this channel uploads. Ctrl+; for example, which I had no idea existed, or that multi-caret stuff. Keep up the great content!
Great video. I noted down several tips. I know difficult to remember all. I will try the ones that I frequently use like control+;, control [ s, control K S, etc. Thanks for sharing in a single video.
Ctrl+ - is the best keyboard shortcut.. this is the first thing I configure when I use any IDE like Eclipse or Pycharm... Visual Studio has the best keymaps...
Navigate code (cursor position back) also works if your mouse has a back button. The older MS Curve mouse (which I love and still use today and I wish MS would bring it back!) has a back button that works very well. I can nav really deep forward and instantly nav back by a click of the thumb on the mouse.
I always turn on "Track Active Document" and I don't know why it is off by default. There are sooooo many demos where this is not turned on and I can't tell what document the presenter is actually in. If you present anything or do demos, turn this on please. Why would you ever want something in the solution explorer selected if it isn't what you are looking at on the screen?
Great video as always, @Robert Green, Would you please consider adding: "Visual Studio Tool Box" to the title of these videos and grouping them in a playlist maybe, it would make finding them much easier, I am a fan of yours back from AppDev days, my first WPF course ever was the one you gave there, and I enjoy your videos greatly.. so please consider my suggestion to make your videos easier to find. @Kendra Havens, Thank you for the nice presentation.
No, no, no, no, nnnoooooo.... I cannot see any logical reason for track active item in solution explorer not to be enabled by default. Why on earth would it not be?
Somehow the way the people in the Microsoft Visual Studio videos interact with each other is kind of strange. Like on a blind date set up by your parents.

Editor context menu (Alt + ') please correct its not Alt + ` its Alt + ' .
@@babarqb Omg i searched the whole day for that shortcut in a german environment. Its Alt+ö just in case somebody else is looking for this ;)
Is always a pleasure to hear Kendra. She has such a good mood. Love it! Thanks for tips.
This was just great, and this Kendra is so captivating with just a very quiet voice, I just loved it.
Great video. Well focused and presented. I already knew a lot of this stuff, but picked up several very useful things that were new to me. Quick jumping to Team Explorer and editing in the diff window for example.
And how many people stopped/started this vid every 20 seconds or so to try out these tips?
Yeah the video is not clear
The tick ´ is called Acute accent (or "accent aigu" in French) and backtick ` is Grave accent (or "accent grave" in French). And while on the topic, the hat ^ is called Circumflex (or "accent circonflexe" in French).
On a UK Keyboard it seems to be the Apostrophe (as in ' - the single quote) on same key as @ (at) symbol - as opposed to ` on the key above Tab
On a Spanish keyboard it's the ALT + ñ
It is awesome, i am using visual studio from so many years and this is something i was not aware.... Thanks a ton....

This video made my day. Thank you 👍
All short cut keys are not working in latest VS2019 version 16.2.3. like - Go to recent files (Ctrl + T + R) [T15:10]
How we can change the line-height of the font in Visual Studio? :D
I like it.
Kevin face reactions is awesome

Thanks for watching! :)
Great video! What's the name of the extension to debug code on other machines?
You might be looking for Live Share. This extension is built-in in Visual Studio 2019 visualstudio.microsoft.com/services/live-share/
I've always heard it "back tick" I think 😅
No, no, no, no, nnnoooooo.... I cannot see any logical reason for track active item in solution explorer not to be enabled by default. Why on earth would it not be?
Kendra using the macbook, taht means, all of these stuff are avaliable also on Mac version ?
No, my setup is a little different. I have windows bootcamped on my Mac so all features I demoed were on Visual Studio on Windows.
you could recognize mac but couldnt recognize win 10 UI?
are some shortcuts only meant for c#? 'ctrl + .' for example doesn't work for me and I'm using c++
Yes, (Ctrl+.) is C# specific.
Somehow the way the people in the Microsoft Visual Studio videos interact with each other is kind of strange. Like on a blind date set up by your parents.
Alt + Grave
How do you type ALT+TICK?
jetbrains must be laughing at this :D
is that a mac?
Yes, I have windows bootcamped on a mac.
16:56 Look just above the tab bar. VS encountered an exception
Good
Ubi diff is short word for Uber Diff .. may be .. :)
My productivity tip: Buy ReSharper or Rider altogether.
