Love the new direction for the channel, Tayson! OV products make up a large portion of my standard backpacking kit, and your material has helped me get more fluent in doing things properly in the outdoors. Keep it up!
Good luck! A few years ago I walked 50 miles in 17 hours. I wasn’t in a hurry at all, and took a couple long rests, but did it in one shot. My feet and hip flexors (something I didn’t know I had) were on fire. It was tough, but fun in its own strange way. 100 miles blows my mind.
Super inspiring, man. That T.S. Eliot quote definitely just went into my "philosophy journal." Thanks for sharing your reasons and your hesitations. Really good stuff. -Phillip
Great video Tayson, I am definitely not a runner, but I look forward to your upcoming training program. I started training about a month ago for the '24 100 Challenge with a stress on cardio and weight loss. I know I need to incorporate some weight training and my nemisis stretching. Take Care and God Bless
Great job and go for it! Enjoy watching all your adventures whether hiking with your crew, running or gear stuff. No matter what the outcome, get out there and try! I'm in my golden years, and still try to get out there.... although no way, are the 100 mile, single events, in my wheelhouse!
Awesome quote and kudos for acting on it. I'd love to support you. Here's how I can help... 1) the 10% rule is BS and for those who do not understand true injury prevention. As a 23-year injury-free Ironman Triathlete and Coach, I've started creating videos to help. I'll link below. 2) the nutrition displayed in the video looks terrible. Sugar, of ANY kind, is your enemy. The studies often referenced are grossly misinterpreted. Try Hammer Nutrition and read all their articles. I have no affiliation to them. 3) I recall a bonking video of yours from long ago. I believe your main issue may be that you haven't properly trained your body to use fat as it's primary fuel source. For your immediate training, I'd commit to 60-70% of your max HR for ALL your training until race day. I'd be happy to discuss further. th-cam.com/play/PLD_L8wN1p3wIadjCut6gBIjnLvAqhhVvV.html&si=EiNbRKriiS2v4yMZ

I climbed Shasta at 60 then at 70, (1hr faster) & will do it again in 2 years at 80. Keep going, if you stop it’s hard to get back.

Why not now? Action: I start the Pacific Crest Trail on 14 April, less than two weeks before BIRTHDAY 58. I agree with Tayson, don’t live with regrets
Good luck on the PCT!

Long story, long road trip…I spent 4 nights/5 days camping and hiking Bryce Canyon, luv that place and am cheering you on!!!!
Limitations are perceptions. Finding new and challenging things to work towards keeps us moving forward!
You will do awesome at this race, and I cannot wait to hear the pod cast about how well you did. Good luck and know that we are rooting for you!
You've got this!
You can do it!
I guess I’m not as dumb as you, I signed up for the Bryce Canyon 50! See you there man! 😂

Thanks! Will do!
Got to have a goal! Goal should be bigger than you currently are! Get after it!
Also I recommend Jocko Hydrate for Hydration sticks. They are meant for extreme rehydration.
You got this Tayson! Then on to the Barkley Marathons next year?!😮
😐
This is awesome
Just David Goggins it. Full out 100 miles with minimal training. Just keep going, it’s all mental.
Would love to have the same advice for backpacking. Does the 10% increase apply?
Yes it does!
We have the same body build what you are about to do is epic good luck I kept getting hurt when I was doing that??
Thanks! Let's hope I can keep healthy!!
I was gonna say you were doing it because you didn't get the bass playing gig with ZZ-top 😂. Good Luck!
Good job
Can't wait to see all the epic videos and journeys! #FOMO
I do wonder about the wind resistance of the beard...
If you are not TRYING to grow, you're already dead! Good luck, engage beast mode!
