  • Now you might be wondering, '#thinktober?' What is '#thinktober?' We all came together and decided that it would be a good idea for each of us to give our perspectives on the idea of critical thinking within Witchcraft and paganism. So sit down, grab a cup of coffee, listen, because I'm not sure what sort of visual appeal this video is going to have, and let's talk about my perspective on critical thinking and witchcraft.

    I love how you stress that natural doesn’t mean safe. We have lost our ability to think and problem solve for ourselves. I love how you guys are collaborating to push thinking for themselves.

      Natural =/= safe is so important to remind everyone of! Thank you for watching ❤️

    1000% agree with everything you said. 👏👏👏 Thank you so much for having the courage to speak this wisdom. 🙏 It's such an important topic in witchcraft AND so many other areas of life. Bravo!

    The money magick thing is so real. I get lots of overtime opportunities when I do a money working. I know too many people who want shortcuts or "poof!" spells (as in poof! There's hundred dollar bills in my pocket) without having to put in any work. That just ain't how it works.

    I love that you addressed worrying over doing it right and how following a instructions just proves one can follow instructions and the health warning and... Well, I loved the whole thing. Thanks for putting this out there, Megan!

    It was great to hear your perspective as a community leader and how you offer a wider definition of what it means to be in a leadership beyond just running a coven or having students directly under you. Being in that kind of leadership position is something I definitely relate to. Really well done video! I enjoyed listening to it.

    Oh! Thank you for touching on safety! ❤ As a baker, I’ve seen too many people in groups recommend making their own extracts and a popular extract recipe that people throw around is almond extract (made using apricot kernels). I literally cringe when I see this for the very reason you mentioned in your example.

      Of course! Safety is super important, and just because this is a religious or spiritual path doesn't mean everything is automatically safe. Apricot kernels are just... ugh soo aggravating 😂

    Comments for the algorithm, but I'll definitely join the discussion on the forum. I absolutely feel frustrated with people wanting the correct way to do something in witchcraft (and art/craft, per my last job) because I feel like that's really not the point 90% of the time. In witchcraft and magical spiritual practices, it's not really about the actions and words. It's the connection with the energies, and if you don't understand the why behind some of these things, I really feel like you're doing an empty practice. Just lighting a candle and saying words, regardless of them being the most "correct" won't get anyone the best results.

    I wasn't expecting to get awesome parenting advice from this video, but I'm grateful for it!

    • @RoundtheCauldron
      @RoundtheCauldron  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      haha I feel like I can always find a way to interject parenting advice into basically anything. It's a good way to think, especially when teaching people new things.

    I’m at 8:10 in the video and I am right there with you! I do a lot of eye rolling when reading social media posts in groups, but I always try to remember that we’re all on different paths or different points in our journey and I try to be helpful in encouraging people to think deeper or I offer resources rather than simply giving a short answer that would personally “work” for me.

    • @RoundtheCauldron
      @RoundtheCauldron  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's hard to stop the eye rolling sometimes, for sure. I'm the same in that I try to encourage resources and research rather than just giving direct answers. I think that's more helpful than just telling people what to do or how to do things!

    I agree with what you've said here. People who ask questions without making an effort to truly understand the context surrounding the subject of their question are doing themselves a huge disservice.
    I am also often put off by people who ask questions only to attempt to fish for a specific answer that they have already decided is correct. For example, "I found a feather on my walk home today; does this mean a deity is trying to communicate with me?" In this example, they've already decided that deity is attempting to communicate with them and are just looking for people to agree with them.
    I mean, you just declared yourself a witch five minutes ago and now Gods and Goddesses are rushing to communicate with you through feathers? Slow down, for Pete's sake! Not everything is a sign from on high. 🤔

    • @lunawolf3645

      🤣🤣 Totally agree. Even now I have to remind myself that, “not everything is a sign” and that I’ll know it’s truly a sign when I get one and if I don’t, they’ll find another way that gets my attention

    • @RoundtheCauldron
      @RoundtheCauldron  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh yes, I absolutely agree. Fishing for answers isn't a good sign, either. Thank you for watching and sharing your comments!
