Show how to install the body side mounting brackets. I'm concerned about the location and mechanical fasteners needed, plus what might be behind the bracket.

This video was helpful for the brackets, but using neoprene instead of the required Sikaflex is a mistake. The Sikaflex called for is not a sealant, it's a powerful adhesive, so the weight it should be supporting is all hanging off the roof rail instead. Not using the shims is also questionable. Hope this holds up for you...

@@FreedomVanGo I had the same question about using Sikaflex vs neoprene/rubber pads. Have you had any issue or flexing of the factory C-channel or any of the other components?

nice video, Just a quick ?... will this awning work with solar panels that over hang off the side of the van about 2 inches. they are elevated above the ground about 3-4 inches. i dont have roof canels or tracks.

Thanks for not showing the installation of the leg brackets.

Warning....Ask yourself how he connected the awning to the rails. I believe he skipped the step where the brackets that butt up against the awning actually get screwed into the awning to stop it from sliding forward and backward. If you do not do that, what stops the awning from sliding back due to wind or when going up a hill? HE MADE A BIG MISTAKE in my opinion

      They were installed
And this awning is still working great to this day in Portland Oregon currently ;)

The instructions say that the shims are to be used for alignment, if necessary. Apparently they were not needed in this case. However, I would expect the Sika adhesive to eliminate the possibility of shifting forward or back. I am sitting here with closed cell foam remnants from my floor insulation and arguing with myself… unsuccessfully.

What is the exact size awning you ordered for the 144? Did it come with the installation kit for the factory roof rails?

Hi Grant, We've had Awning fitted for a while and have decided that we'd like End Screens. Have you had the occasion to fit these and if so did you use part #98655-899 with Roof struts.
