I actually bought this one not long ago.
3.5 makes it available in supermarkets in Sweden.
And I think it's good for being 3.5 abv.
There are way worse in that segment.
    Cheers mate!

@@MrMattiasG Yeah you're absolutely right. There are hugely worse examples of this style out there. This one literally cost me one English pound a bottle so it's a bargain too. Cheers.

For me, Wychwood is a shadow of it's former self, which is a shame, as Hobgoblin was my go-to ruby beer back in the day, although if I go to a rock bar, I will still have this or Trooper if it's on tap.

@@TheCiderDrinker I loved Hobgoblin and King Goblin back in the day. My mates called it Obberz Gobberz in a broad Devonshire accent down here. I've yet to try any of their beers on cask. Trooper is solid though. Cheers.

    Afternoon Viking,
I am fortunate to remember Wytchwood beer when it was an independent brewery before the Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company took it over way back in 2002
Once a head brewer has to answer to his accountants, the only way is down!
Wytchwood limped on till November 2023 when the brewery was finally decommissioned and production switched to various operations within the Carlsberg organisation.
Unfortunately all their beers now are a far cry from those original days.
Or perhaps it’s me being simply an old moaning twat!

@@londontaxijim9526 you are spot on mate. Hobgoblin tastes completely different to twelve years ago when I reviewed it. It's such a shame. I'm hoping Theakstons Old Peculiar is still the same as I need to revisit that one. Cheers Jim!

@@urbanvikingalereview Your still in safe hands mate with Theakston’s. Fiercely remains independent and as such, the Old Peculiar is still a lovely drop of ale. I look forward to your review.
      Cheers,
      Jim.
