    My husband and I live in New York. We used to love visiting South Beach on long weekends in the winter. The architecture, the people, the food, the beach are all great. But we stopped going once DeSantis launched his anti-LGBTQ campaign. Sorry, but we won’t spend money down there.

      It's a tricky thing. Boycotting is a powerful way to show resistance. At the same time, I hate to see the local economy suffer.
      South Beach is progressively getting trashier. There are more and more visitors who aren't necessarily welcome - and who aren't stimulating the local economy either. Spring break during COVID was insane - and I don't mean that in a fun, "girls gone wild" way.

    BTW, I think your hair looks good either way.
    I agree that you look more sophisticated and distinguished with the slicked back look, but I don't think that is necessarily better or worse than the more insouciant free flowing hairstyle. I think both of those styles look better on you than the close cropped hairstyle you had a few years ago.
    Fortunately, it is pretty easy for you to switch between the two styles as the mood strikes you, so you don't have to decide on which is best.
    One feature of the slicked back look that I like is that it does accentuate your widow's peak, which is giving me vampire vibes a la the traditional image of Dracula. I'm into vampire literature and movies. For Halloween, can you do a video wearing a red lined black cape with your hair slicked back? 🧛‍♂😉

    OMG!! You are STUNNINGLY handsome!!!! WOW!!! I mean I already knew it. But then, randomly, I stopped on 0:03 and went wild. When you come back to Chicago, please spend more than 36 hours here and do NOT stay in the central business district downtown! Chicago is massive in terms of square miles. Please let your peeps know first so they can discuss where you should stay, what you should do. I volunteer to be your tourist guide. ;)

    Through sales taxes and other taxes on tourism businesses, the traveler's wallet provides tax revenue to the state.
    The state gets an enormous amount of revenue from tourists' purchases through the state sales tax and from excise and property taxes on businesses that serve tourists.
    In 2022, Florida's tourism industry generated $8.1 billion in state tax revenue. Tourism is Florida's top industry. In 2022, tourism-supported employment reached 2 million jobs. In 2022, visitors spent $124.9 billion in Florida, and 97 cents of every dollar spent was retained in the state's economy.
    So this discussion is definitely about the traveler's wallet and how much of its contents stay in Florida after the traveler leaves.

    I would like to do part of one your videos, it would add to your charm and I noticed in previous videos that you pronounce French words very well( you might have French background?which would not surprise me because you have a typical French look- I am French by the way)
    Otherwise, America seem to be turning more and more conservative, Florida being no exception.
    My point is that all this "wokish" atmosphere will have some kind of backlash as a consequence

    I agree with you about being disturbed at the how politicized and open to public scrutiny LGBT people's, and I would add, all people's, lives have become. Instead, we should be respecting people's rights to live their lives privately and in whatever manner they choose as long as they are not harming others or others' property, nor infringing on others rights.

    OK. First, you're still going to get modeling jobs. I know we're really age based in our culture, but I don't think you're going to find getting work a problem. That's more of my unsolicited advise, I know. So, I apologize for that. As for Florida... How ridiculous? The Florida Taliban is more than happy to shoot themselves in the foot, income wise, to cater to a maniacal minority. It's basic business sense. You don't have to believe in one cause or another to make the money. Just cast a wide enough net to rake in as much dough as possible and the shareholders will love you. The music industry has done it for years. Disney has done it for years. There's no political or national loyalty when it comes to business. So, by restricting the dollars Florida wants to take in, that's a clear sign to businesses they won't stand to make as much as they did before because of some religious, over-politicized garbage position. Just amazing to watch. I think it's also a lesson. We don't have that in California but if it can happen in Florida, who's to say it won't happen here?

    I think you are misinterpreting the statement by Visit Florida that their marketing strategy, materials and content must align with the state.
    Since Visit Florida was created as a public/private partnership not-for-profit corporation by the Florida State Legislature in 1996, it must align its marketing strategy, materials and content with the Florida State Legislature, which consists of the elected representatives of the citizens of Florida.
    The Republican Party controls the offices of governor, secretary of state, attorney general, and both chambers of the state legislature in Florida. That does not imply that there are no Democrats or Independents living in Florida or that all Floridians are Republicans. Nor does it erase the existence of Democrats and Independents in Florida. It does mean that the majority of voters in Florida voted for Republicans.
    It also means that Visit Florida must adjust their marketing strategy, materials, and content to align with the views of the Republican party which currently controls the majority in the Florida State Legislature. If the Democrats gain control of the Florida State Legislature, then Visit Florida will have to reflect their views.
    In our Republic of representative democracy, the elected representatives are presumed to enact the will of the citizens that elected them, and the majority of representatives are presumed to represent the majority of the citizenry, and the majority rules. That does not imply that the minority viewpoints don't exist or are erased, but it does mean those viewpoints are not enacted unless a majority of the representative's viewpoints can be changed to their viewpoint, or until the party reflecting that viewpoint can be elected by a majority in the next election. The exceptions to this are when the civil rights of minorities are hampered by the actions of the majority ruled legislature, in which case those actions can be overturned by the judiciary.

      I appreciate you raising these points. I guess my takeaway is still that I can't fathom a tourism site being affected by political angles.

    • @luminiferous1960
      @luminiferous1960 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@KevenTalks Given the enormous state revenue generated by tourism, I would be surprised if tourism marketing were not affected by political angles because in politics, as in most things, money talks.
      I think the anti-LGBT politicians see this move as another way to suppress even acknowledgment of the existence of LGBT people, which is in line with those bills that you mentioned like the "don't say gay" bill.
      The irony is that this particular action of removing the LGBT section of Visit Florida has had the opposite effect of giving more press to LGBT tourism. It is also likely to have either no impact or a negative impact on tourism revenue in Florida; it's highly unlikely to increase tourism revenue in Florida. So all around, Florida's conservative state legislature is shooting itself in the foot with this move. And you can be sure that they were behind the removal of the LGBT section of the Visit Florida website by pressuring the not-for-profit corporation, probably with threats of funding cuts for that corporation.

    • @KevenTalks

      It makes you think they either a) are spoiled by tourism and therefore think Florida tourism will never be affected by such decisions (arrogance) or b) they really don't give a F about LGBT people's contribution to their revenue lol (or both)

    • @luminiferous1960
      @luminiferous1960 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@KevenTalks True!
      I think probably they think both a and b. Furthermore, I think they not only don't give a F about, but also actively hate, anyone who has an opinion or viewpoint that differs in any way from theirs.

      Well, that’s a lot of bureaucratic double-speak to justify the fact that “Visit Florida” is aligning itself with the governor’s agenda of exclusion and hate. The R*epublican Party envisions a world where LGBTQ people do not exist. Perhaps this is all irrelevant anyway because the R*publican Party’s climate deniers are also helping to sink Florida, physically as well as economically. In 25 years South Beach will be underwater.
