Rob Swift's "Swing" Patterns vs ShortKut's "Strobe" Pattern

  • I've been coming across a gang of youtube tutorials on "Beat Juggling" lately and while some are informative, All of them lack proper historical context on the techniques being disseminated. One in particular taught the "Strobe" aka "Chase" pattern and never once mentioned the pattern's author. I'm not gon' name names or anything like that as I know a lot of y'all feel my words are polarizing and such. So instead of shuttin' dudes down like I be doin' every so often, I decided to be more constructive.

    Rob , I heard Babu [Beat Junkies] talk about witnessing this "Nobody Beats..." juggle and being in awe. Watching it now, decades later and this shit is still mind bending. Props of the highest order SIR!!!!

    In simple terms then, a "Swing" juggle is used when a beat is limited to one or two bars hence why we need to rewind, and a "Strobe" is for tracks that have more time/bars of a linear beat to simply pull back and let go on each side. I see i see

    So Rob, what exactly is a "swing"? Define it for me.

    • @djrobswift
      @djrobswift  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's basically swinging in the and of one within the 1/2 notes of a bar during a "beat juggle".

      Bryan Rosado God of the scratch but he don't do anything else. He only scratches with only one hand.

      there's different "gods". dj jazzy jeff is the dopest all around dj. there's a couple of best juggling and scratch. beat juggling gods are roc raida, p-trix, shortkut, swift rock (too many) and scratching gods are qbert and ricci rucker. these are all my opinion tho
