Two suggestions for book flattening issue: get a binder or bulldog clip and attach two, one at the top and the bottom, directly on the spine... so half is on one page and half on the other. This holds it much flatter than clips on the outside of the pages. Another thing I find helpful if you color in your lap is a drawing board with the large rubber bands, you can adjust so a band is at the top and bottom of the book, holding both pages down. You may need to buy additional bands as most boards come with one, but most craft stores sell them separately. I find this especially helpful for opposite side pages, so the left side page if you are right handed or vice versa. It not only holds the book open but supports it. Make sure the board you choose is larger than a full size coloring book when open for the best result. The drawing board is also excellent for individual printed pages.
Great idea to add the background frame. I love pictures where the elements pop out of the frame, and it really helps make the background smaller as well. Perhaps you could do a video demonstrating how to get the lines even and straight?
I’m trying to finish my Fairy Tales book too. My pics don’t look as good as yours, but your tutorials are so helpful and have taught me a lot. I really hope you finish it as I’d love to see it completed.
Красивые иллюстрации, что просто глаз не отвести))) Животные как настоящие, завораживали, а потом еще увидела иллюстрации из сказок, то они вообще классные))) Еще русалочка с парнем самые самые!))
I especially loved the animal pictures. People arent my subject of choice but I do enjoy seeing your people pages. Beautiful. Yes those dresses are fabulous.
Yeah, the quality of the paper in these books makes me not even consider purchasing them. I like my nice quality hardcover coloring books with great paper. Call me a snob if you must, but I want to enjoy myself when I color, not suffer a frustration. Once the illustrators / publishers finally realize it, they might make more money on selling coloring books. :D
I don't think Selina cares, since she also sells her books as PDF on Etsy, and btw, I never see her doing sales. Her digital and physical books cost absolutely the same, and here in Brazil, they are even more expensive than those luxury hardcover books with thick paper from Hanna Karlzon, Maria Trolle, etc... It makes no sense at all lol Maybe that's why I hardly see any Brazillian colorists buying her stuff, tbh, we don't see many people coloring her stuff here on youtube, only big artist I see is Alena.
You are much too hard on yourself. Your pictures are wonderful. I agree that the paper in her books are a struggle for most mediums. I wish she would have her beautiful artwork printed on better paper. I stopped buying her books because of poor paper quality.
me too. I only have the Fairy Tale book, and only because it was on sale lol And I don't buy her digital books because they are too expensive (at least, considering the currency from my country). Believe it or not, her PDF books are more expensive than those high quality hardcover books from Hanna Karlzon, Maria Trolle, etc.
Absolutely beautiful work, as an Australian who has seen these animals up close, you do a wonderful job of the details!
As an Australian I loved seeing your colouring of the Australian Wildlife book. It’s beautiful!
