    I had an Olympic weight lifting coach in college and you are exactly right. Single leg squats like yours are super important. One leg is usually used more or developed more than the other. It definitely helps not only stretch but the technique helps strengthen muscles around the knee

    I tried knees over toes guy's method and it wasn't working for me, so I tried out squat university's method and it worked. Knees over toes guy wants you to start out with full range of motion on the knee joint and slowly increase the resistance. Squat university wants you to start out with your body weight and slowly increase the range of motion. Once my knees were healthy enough I started doing full range of motion bodyweight squats (I call them deep knee bends). Single leg squats paired with the deep knee bends healed my knees.

      May i ask what parts of your knee was painful and how long it took to heal?

      Did you actually do the Knees Over Toes Zero program, or just watch his TH-cam videos? In Zero he's very clear that you're never supposed to work through pain. It's all bodyweight and he has you starting with a small range of motion and increasing both ROM and resistance over time.

      @@samuelgizaw7899 both my petallar tendons and my left leg quad tendon. Took a few months of careful training, but if you just recently tweaked it in a workout or something you can just lower the weight for a few weeks then work back up to normal working weight

      @BryceJohnson98 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@whitemakesright2177 I just watched the TH-cam videos. But my knees were so bad that walking down stairs gave me sharp pains so I had to start with a very small range of motion. That's why the single leg touchdown worked well for me.

    • @swazti8630
      @swazti8630 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      KoT Guy always emphasizes pain free ROM. And provides regressions even to the point of walking backwards on a flat surface gradually working your way to walking backwards up hill...etc.
      Glad you’re figuring out what works for your knees though.

  • @Praetoriusify
    @Praetoriusify ปีที่แล้ว +19

    Yup, and you can graduate this approach by just doing the downward part on the single leg and going back up on two legs. So you just hit the eccentric movement. I did that one with a kettlebell in hand and gradually added more height to the stack. It took a few months but very good results for patellofemoral pain and patellar tendonitis that just were not getting better. Now I'm back playing basketball.
