  • This tutorial shows a perfect way to connect two 55 gallon water barrels together, giving you 110 gallons of water connected with one faucet! The new faucet added in this tutorial also gives a higher water flow to save you a lot of time during your busy day.
Connecting the barrels in this way allows the water to level out automatically between the two barrels.

Great job!!! The only thing I would add is a short garden hose so it will be easier to fill the jugs

Thank you! The only thing I would have done differently is to do a larger tube between the two barrels so it would equalize quicker.

@@roothomestead4504 thanks for the heads up on using a bigger tube.

Don't suppose you have a quick link for the bigger hose you would have used and fitting? Thanks for the vid, I'll be doing the same thing this weekend!

This is what I will probably use to upgrade to a larger size (from 1/2 to 3/4). I could not find the press fittings alone online.

Put a regular 3/4 ball valve on there. It will MUCH faster

You are right. Hindsight is 20/20.

Would i be able to do this if my barrels were sideways instead of standing. i do auto detailing and they fit in my truck like that better.

Yes for sure. You don't even need to drill if you have the port holes.

@@roothomestead4504 Thabk you so much for the feedback!! So then how would i feed the hose through it and make it fit. I have both bungs on the top and they’ll be facing me when i turn them sideways. Are you saying i take one of the bungs out and fit the hosing or do i drill into the bungs and get fittings like you have? Sorry for all the questions Im very interested but i dont wanna spend 500+ on a 100 gallon detailing tank 😂😂

I personally have not turned the barrels on their side so I am not sure. The link I shared is for a faucet that fits right in the existing hole without drilling. But not sure it is the placement you are looking for. Sorry I am not more help.

How did you get the water in the barrel from inside of a metal shed?

We have a hose about 30 feet away. We fill it up about once a month.

    What keeps it from freezing

    • @roothomestead4504

It has froze a couple times. But with the birds in there and the heat lamps we use it has stayed warm enough for the most part. My next barn will be better insulated.
