I think Hovind joke of the stereotype was to debunk it as irony; if two groups share a stereotype then it’s not a stereotype. Hovind immediately obeyed retracted his comment when he saw it offended you- I’m surprised you went back to it and forced him to dwell in shame. Nothing wrong with referring to a stereotype when its being used as irony to debunk it.

@@delroyrobinson6835 Right! He wasn't, but I can appreciate how sensitive one could become about such a comment if they had been accosted by stereotypical slurs all their lives. I'm sure "black" people could add much more to the reasons not to mention such things, but this was obviously Kent saying "who wouldn't want to know how to get gold out of helium" without actually considering before speaking that it might offend Nehemia. It's certainly understandable, but I think Nehemia realized it wasn't a jab, but hot water spilled by accident on someone is still going to burn.

Nehemiah, as a Jew myself, I am fully aware of most of the Stereotypes and have been made fun of with that particular one on more occasions than I can remember (and I am sure that you know that this one is extremely mild by comparison because you have had to endure more than I); however, we as a society need to laugh at ourselves to show that YeHoVAH is bigger than someone's words. Historically, how racism got nerfed from it's Apex was the ability to let yourself be humbled with a joke from time to time that allowed people in 60s-90s come closer to one another and relate. When we have this inability to joke and to take even a racial joke, as we do in the modern era for the sake of offending, we distance ourselves from conversation and distance ourselves from each other. It showed in the fact that you couldn't even let him finish the thought after he apologized because of the offense. Now, am I saying that he did not have the responsibility to watch His Words and be the best version of himself that he could be? No, I am not. We have to be better though.
Also, realize, that Kent Hovind has been doing these debates in front of Schools, Synagogues and Churches since the late 80s. He has programmed zingers for everyone depending on his audience, and even though we live in a hyper sensitive society now where people don't even have to say something actually wrong to get banned, we as followers of YeHoVAH's Torah need to be the bigger individuals and not dwell on a slight. Proverbs 25 says 21 "If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat, and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. 22For in so doing, you will heap burning coals on his head, and YeHoVAH will reward you."
I think you were right in expressing your pain and disagreement based on the majority of us who watch this (as well as the tiresomeness of that particular stereotype), but forgiveness, laughter, and instruction go a long way to build bridges vs. closing a conversation because of, in my opinion, an inappropriate moment in an otherwise great video.

Thank you for this comment. It didn't sit right with me, Nehemiah, that at the end you said you couldn't get over it. I have always loved & respected how you call out Michael when he says stuff that is offensive to others, but you don't dwell on it and say you can't get over it. That always spoke deep into my soul, about your character. I've never felt like you should apologize to someone, you've always exposed bad behavior and then risen above the fray. I hope you're able to forgive Ken, and tell him that you do. Whether you want to have discussions with him in the future or not, is no big deal, but the end of this video... I felt icky. I found this because I've just discovered Nehemiah Gordon and have really been enjoying his open doors teaching. And I was so thrilled to see Kent Hovind as his guest as I would say I'm in the top fan club ha. I have many dvds and have learned so much from the God given wisdom of his teachings regarding creation/evolution. I always believed in God from age 6 (because I encountered God's presence at that age) and only at age 22 did I read the bible for the first time and was filled with the Holy Spirit at age 25. But at school I rejected the teaching of evolution because I knew God made me. So since discovering Kent Hovind and God bless him for his obedience: my confusion regarding dinosaurs and creation was answered.

I have deep respect for Nehemiah and Kent. Both of them are well-studied and deserving of the term experts. I appreciate their care in bringing forth what they have found and learned to the public so very much.
Recently, I have observed a slight variance in Nehemiahs demeanor lately and am concerned that perhaps due to tiredness or prescription that he may have his regular cheerfulness slightly suppressed. From the many years I have been learning from all his research and wisdom I care very much for him and his family and pray blessings for them.
I also pray that these two will remember this conversation with a positive feeling and acknowledge that Nehemiah was leading Kent to consider what might be information his audience might feel is revelant. Many things that Kent discussed Nehemiahs response was to say that his audience would not feel it was important enough to even think about. In all fairness Kent was trying to do what Nehemiah was asking... which was to bring up topics and details that Nehemiahs audience might feel is relevant.
I hope they both reflect on this discussion because it has contains much revelation that new audiences will benefit from.

Nehemia, Thanks for this great podcast. I felt really bad that you were so offended at the end. As I was thinking on this the Holy Spirit told me "He was offended long before that!" Then I realized that it really was not the last quip about gold - it was that Kent honored the word of God higher than you. That is why you were so uncomfortable with his literal interpretation of Genesis and here was a gentile having to tell you to honor the commandment with God's own version of six days of creation. And then you were offended at the gospel of Jesus as Kent so clearly presented it. I was very surprised at this as one of your best attributes is how you can "usually" converse so well with Christians and you don't seem to be bothered.
Nehemia, you have done a fantastic job honoring God's word about his name Yehovah among other subjects. Kent showed us how to honor God's word about Creation and Salvation. There should be no reason to be offended. But I now realize that you have a lot to learn.
Matthew 11:6 "And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me."
1 Corinthians 1:23 but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness,
It still was a great podcast and I am still a friend and supporter of you Nehemia! Just keep an open mind for truth!

Nehemia, I really appreciate your art of asking and listening and inviting an explorative conversation and exchange off the beaten track and drum with all kinds of partners, not only challenging the audience to check out new terrain but even yourself to step out way beyond scholarly and tribal comfort zones.
The call obviously ended on an awkward note which, left lingering, can taint the recollection of the prevoius content, and which has already imprinted clearly on the comment section, but the beauty of recordings is that they enablebus not only to replicate witnessing the situation, but also to step back and revisit every bump and turn in the road to reflect as much as needed or desired to work stuff out.
Therefore: Thank you for leaving the video raw and unedited. I figure it a worthy decision of a historical scientist to handle, share and the document of this interaction in as lossless a format as possible so whoever cares can zoom in ad libitum on all aspects of the conversation, to figure out the claims, the reasoning and the clues of personal nuances etc... but sans preconceived editorial framing bias. Translate the first chapter of Genesis. There was evening, there was morning the FIRST day. There was evening, there was morning, the SECOND day, etc. The sun and moon did not need ro exist to show evening and morning, light and darkness needed to exist. Which it did in the first day. Sun is not needed to grow plants, any one growing ... herbs ... in their basement knows that. If we cannot believe chapter one ... why believe any of it. I do not need to massage Scripture into science. Science needs to fit Scripture. Otherwise, your faith changes with the ever time science changes. Big bang? Easy...in the beginning let there be light. What is light, release of energy. What is a bang ... release of energy. Science substantiates Scripture far more than it refutes. Evolution is simply, they worshiped the creation rather than the Creator. Nothing new under the sun.

This is one of the best interviews I have ever heard on any of your shows, Dr. Gordan. I did not want it to stop; I wanted to hear more.
But you spoilt it, Nehemiah; you made it personal. You are better than that. I liked Kent Hovind's punt (joke); it broke down the walls of such heavy information. Kent Hovind is such a Blessing, and he is hearing from YeHoVaH about the mission he has been called to.
But the devil knows all of our weaknesses, and he is always looking for that 'gap', that 'window' to enter our personal lives. You 'probably' should apologise publicly, Nehemia; that was not cool at all. I did not find Kent Hovind's comments offensive at all, and I am a mixed breed, including having Hebrew roots.
Your hyper-sensitivity has now spoiled for me (and I'd have to say others as well), to the point I thought this was very selfish of you. I get that it is your show, but we are your audience, and we, too, will not always agree with you, Sir.
I want to hear more, please from Kent Hovind.
    @jeffreyfrye1811 has addressed this the best. And I want to reiterate his words;

Proverbs 25 says 21 "If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat, and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. 22 For in so doing, you will heap burning coals on his head, and YeHoVAH will reward you." I think you were right in expressing your pain and disagreement based on the majority of us who watch this (as well as the tiresomeness of that particular stereotype), but forgiveness, laughter, and instruction go a long way to building bridges vs. closing a conversation because of, in my opinion, an inappropriate moment in an otherwise great video.

It's like joking about murdering someone who you know, just to make fun of the murderer himself. It doesn't work.

Hi Nehemiah. I want to applaud you on your bravery in getting Kent involved in this crucial matter. His skill in battling against Atheistic Scientism is legendary and his enthusiasm for the trustworthiness of the Holy Scriptures is truly inspiring. We mere mortals can never apprehend the depths of the mind of the Creator but, praise be unto Him, He has given us a reference book that we can use to guide us into wisdom and understanding in our observation of the creation. Please feel free and encouraged to have Kent and any of the many other creation scientist warriors testify of the truths they have seen in their investigations.

As soon as she found out she was in the photo - she whipped up her hand demanding money. I thought it rather sweet - and gave the loose change in my pocket.

But this interview with Kent Hovind was a side of you that I'm not used to seeing. Your body language the entire time was as if Kent was spewing offensive lies and falsities, when in fact he had sources and logical arguments for EVERYTHING. You can agree to disagree, but this was not a good showing on your part. And the comment at the end, it was a joke, maybe insensitive, but a joke nonetheless. Have some thick skin, and move on. The only reason it was offensive was because you decided to get offended. I personally think you missed out on a TON of great arguments and insight from Kent because you took it personally and ended. I want to add if I may that when I took an ancient art history class at my local university in the '90's, I will never forget one slide in particular, focusing on cave art. (And another in yet another ancient art history class, more on that one after.) There was a simple outline of an obvious dinosaur. Had it been shown to any child familiar with the Barney series, they would have recognized it immediately. The professor called it a "woolly mammoth". I raised my hand. I have seen depictions of mammoths. They do not have long, tall necks. They do not resemble brachiosauruses. There was nothing mammothian about this drawing. Nothing. I was amazed at the professor trying to point out the long, upward spine as that of a mammoth when it obviously was not. When I attempted to point out the differences, someone in the class laughingly offered that "it couldn't be a dinosaur, because they weren't around when humans were!" Being a very visual person, ignorant of the operative dating scale, that answer could never satisfy. It was amazing how people could insist on something so apparent as being not so. Nor could I be satisfied by being told that a realistic clay model of an alligator (scales clearly formed) on its back, holding a ball with hands, feet, and pointed tail-end was actually that of "a beaver." 😮 What is going on in academia? In these two classes on those two slides, they were trying to force-fit the models into the overarching narrative. That's so UNscientific! Thanks to this video, I finally have the reasons. Thank you, Kent Hovind! Thank you, Nehemia Gordon! (Very unfortunate "joke" at the very end, though. Oy. Just No. But I don't think Hovind really meant it. But still. No.😢.)

    No room for evolution here:
“The importance of the Sabbath as the memorial of creation is that it keeps ever present the true reason why worship is due to God”-because He is the Creator, and we are His creatures. “The Sabbath therefore lies at the very foundation of divine worship, for it teaches this great truth in the most impressive manner, and no other institution does this. The true ground of divine worship, not of that on the seventh day merely, but of all worship, is found in the distinction between the Creator and His creatures. This great fact can never become obsolete, and must never be forgotten.”-J. N. Andrews, History of the Sabbath, chapter 27. It was to keep this truth ever before the minds of men, that God instituted the Sabbath in Eden; and so long as the fact that He is our Creator continues to be a reason why we should worship Him, so long the Sabbath will continue as its sign and memorial. Had the Sabbath been universally kept, man’s thoughts and affections would have been led to the Creator as the object of reverence and worship, and there would never have been an idolater, an atheist, or an infidel. The keeping of the Sabbath is a a sign of loyalty to the true God, “Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.”-The Great Controversy, pp. 437, 438.

For anyone wondering what the six forms of evolution Kent was referencing towards the video’s end; there is:
Cosmic Evolution being the origin of time, space and matter formed from within the “big bang” event.
Chemical Evolution being elements “evolved” from others with lower atomic numbers like hydrogen.
Stellar Evolution being stars and planets formed from gas clouds that gravitationally accumulated together over time.
Organic Evolution being life begins from inanimate matter, by chemical processes and extreme weather conditions.
Macro Evolution being animals and plants change from one type into another completely different species over time, through endless mutations and environmental changes.
Micro Evolution being variations form within the “kind”, such as slight changes in biological color or height and other small differences that occur naturally or by intervention; this is the only form of evolution that can be observed within a lifetime.

Also remember He made light before stars so the light didn’t have to travel 13 billion years anyway, without the stretching.

I am not a scientist; I am an artist. But as long as I can remember, the theories and timeline of Evolution have always felt untrue. Though I have been exposed for a very long time in ways that convey the certainty of academia that it is "scientific truth" - it has simply never felt true. The more I now know about intelligent design and the geology of the flood studies, I feel that these are truthful. Genesis explained it in far fewer words and God knew man would figure it out to his satisfaction one day, however slowly...

I should add: the fossil record as well, all explained so well in video I saw from the "Answers In Genesis" series.

Nehemia, I am so glad to see you have limits! I've wondered about that in the past. You let two other things he said pass, because you are nicer than I would have been. He dodged and danced around the subject of the" Protocols of the Elders of Zion," one of the most despicable hoaxes, that has and continues to be used to this very day to murder Jews. He never explained why he'd mention such a "reference" at all. Why would he dodge it if he was proud of it? At the very least, it revealed his ignorance and arrogance. So too, regarding the third comment. Regardless of what anyone thinks about everything else he said, this goes to his credibility and I might add, his level of decency.
Why is it that Jews are always expected to be less sensitive when people like this are either not sensitive at all, or are covering up for their downright arrogance and hatred? You go, Nehemia. Boundaries are a good thing! How people handle our differences are just as important as how they handle our similarities.
