Great reaction!! This song is believed to be heavily inspired by one of the most famous American poets in history: Emily Dickinson (and her love affair with childhood friend-turned-partner Sue Gilbert, who ended up married to Emily’s brother during their relationship). Evermore album was announced on Emily’s bday, Taylor referenced her in a speech, and Taylor let the Dickinson tv show use her Ivy track for a love scene between Emily & Sue. Fun fact: Taylor is a 6th cousin 5 times removed to Emily Dickinson and one of Emily’s most famous love poems for Sue ends with “Sue- forevermore!” Similar Evermore album’s titular lyric “for evermore” playing on the word forevermore in the album closer. I love the amount of queer art that has influenced Taylor’s work, especially lesbian stories both real & fictional. For example, it’s speculated by some fans that Taylor visually referenced the critically acclaimed lesbian film ‘Portrait of a Lady on Fire’ in her Cardigan music video.

Love it! 😍 Thanks for the details! Love getting all the context, lore and backstories
LOL! You’ll definitely get a wristband, everyone does and yes you can keep it. Everyone else keeps theirs!! Loved your reaction as always! And you’re right, for some reason cheating songs are always SO GOOD! Like “Illicit Affairs” too… SO GOOD! Thanks for doing this. I enjoyed it🫶🏻✨

Yes! 🥰 I'm gonna love trying to get it to work after the show too 😅
I think the reason cheating songs are so good is because they’re a way of combining ‘forbidden love’ with a juxtaposition of ‘unhappy relationship’ and ‘passionate love’. There’s an element of danger, an element of passion (secret relationship), an element of misery (current relationship). Which is fun in fiction and makes for good media! The poetry of “ivy” is just sooo intense. I love it.
You can recycle the bracelet if you’d like. My daughter and I kept the “pull tab” that you pull out to make it start so we could put it back in after the show. Now we can activate it at will whenever we need a hit of nostalgia
I don’t think that will do anything. They’re programmed so it probably won’t light up after the next day, regardless of the pull tab. But if I’m wrong I’d love to know! Does yours and your daughter’s wristbands activate when you pull the tab out?
@@milly28850 oh cool! When I go to another Taylor Swift concert, I'll keep the pull tab lol. The two bracelets I already have don't light up so it'd be cool to see the third one light up once in a while
There’s a tab you pull up it if the wrist band at the show. KEEP IT. You can put it back in and it helps to maintain the battery power long term. Every time you pull the tab out you can appreciate the magic. Then you can put it back in.

Will do that for sure. And try to replace the battery when it runs out. And try to program it myself
I think the "pulls you out" and then sinks you back in is 100% intentional within the context of the lyrics... like, theres this moment of clarity and "what am i/we doing?!" but its fleeting and shes sucked right back in 🤷♀️ Regarding wristbands--theres a bin at the exits thats all "recycle wristband here!" that everyone ignores and takes home with them. Mine took a full week to finally stop flashing. Made me happy every time i caught it flashing.

I'll try to figure out how to replace the batteries and program it once I have mine at home I think 😅
I’m so glad you liked Ivy! I did not just sit and listen to Evermore and Folklore at first, and as background music while I was working I struggled to connect with the album, with songs, etc. But after Midnights came out I watched Long Pond and then finally just listened to Evermore and got to appreciate it. And then realized that Ivy had been one that pulled my ear and made me tune in all along. (The “OhohohOH Goddamn” and the bridge, plus it does actually groove a little, has some movement to it). Just really grew on me (it is called Ivy, after all.)

Fitting name for sure! Thanks for the recommendation 🥰
I just went to the eras tour in Argentina and walked out with the bracelet and although you are supposed to returned it, the security really don't care. Is really magical seeing all the colors and the images that the bracelets creates. Pd: i recommend you to react to never grow up :)

Hope the heat was bareable! ❤️ Sounds like a plan! Mines coming home too
You need to react to her live Reputation tour of I Did Something Bad! Her whole Reputation tour/album is amazing and is a completely different Taylor! Also, I Did Something Bad represents what’s going on in the US with the overturning of Roe! Light me up!
You do get to keep the wristband! I know your concert is still a long ways away, but a tip for you or anyone else who may be reading this: the wristband will come with a little piece of plastic hanging out of it that you'll be asked to pull out to activate the wristband. The plastic stops it from lighting up. If you KEEP the plastic, you can reinsert it after the concert to maintain the battery life - that way you can pull it out to see it light up anytime you want, even months/years later. It's pretty cool technology haha
@ It's not a battery that you can take out and replace. I mean maybe you can if you're more handy than me lol, but I don't think it'd be possible. But yeah, the tab hanging out is very noticeable and easy to put back in

It's thought that this song is about Emily Dickinson and Sue Gilbert. And yes, every one keeps their wristband. Mine took a week to finally die

I kept mine also. It flashes between colors. Mine still works when I pull out the tab and it’s been about 8 months.
