- Helmut Lotti - "Poljushko Polje" ("Field, my field")
For the girls, the goodbyes are heartbreaking when their loved ones have to leave for the army. Because the army, no matter how well armed, always has to deal with an enemy that shows no mercy.
The song originated in the thirties of the last century. A soldiers song, a song of the Red Army, that developed a bitter historical taste since World War II and the thereupon following Cold War.
-------------------------------
Field, my field, my wide field,
The heroes ride over the field,
hey, the heroes of the Red Army.
The girls are crying,
the girls are sorrowful today,
their sweethearts went away for a long time,
hey, their sweethearts went away to the army
---------------------------------
I love this! A heavymetal fan like me can easily fell in love with this. First version I ever heard from this song was this one, thank God! Helmut can really sing. This is not an easy song, you need the voice... And he has it!

KOMMENT CTO TO NE PONYATNO NO POLOVINU.
Great Music from very Great Russian Culture ,,Love it so much with Much Love always..

Brave Soldiers, great People. 👊
Belíssima interpretação, ficou melhor ainda com a presença do Red Army schoir.
This song is a Kazakh Song called "Kazak Küy". Furthermore the Cossaks are mainly slavized Turkic members of Tatars. The Tschapka is central asian turkic as well. Go there you will see many things.
I really Love this song. Singing by Helmut it's so wonderful.
He is so cute and he sing very good!
He's my favorite.

Helmutt! Omg, so handsome! Swooning.....
Red Army Heroes!
it is supeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrr!
Congratulations from Bulgaria!!!
My father used to have some collaboration with the Russians when I was a child: so familiar the looks even though I know almost nothing of Russia. Is it the World War II still affecting? Between Finland and Russia all care about all and in questions of the war it is like in the taoist classic Tao-Te-Ching: "The men enter the battle sorrowfully and without maliciousness as if attending a funeral (of the enemy soldiers)."
Helmut Lotti, "Poljushko Polje"! - One on the best versions! singing by a great gay man and musican! - a man, - to show us to sing male power songs! - Poljuhsko Polje! .. and others!
Top Titel.
cavalry is cavalry, one is a quarter tonne animal and the other one is a 61 tonne metal beast
and im pretty sure it does, the original song talks about fleet footed horses
Meine Männer sind wie Stahl. Der Kampf für das Ziel, den Gewinn. Freiheit.
Vorallem immer viele Orden :).
well done, Helmut
Hmmm, I sort of agree with Loetjnant....but it's still visually stunning, and the rest of the rendition is breathtaking.
Words are, of course, different (I actually never heard this one before - it never had any English words...), but yes, pretty much this song.
Hhhhhmmmm! Thank you! From Russia with love!
Oh.
i certainly wish he sung the entire song in russian. Then he'll go and be the soloist in Alexandrov Ensemble for this song, that will be too awesome to bear
They filmed it in Southern Russia, ... and his directors were both Russian and Belgian. Maybe there are many "turks" or people looking like that in Southern Russia
Uniform, Towarztos'
god he's gorgeous
Polje means "field" and poljushko is the dimintive of polje, that is "little field".
russian voices best voices ever!
BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!

Estonia was apart of the german knight order before it was occupied by the russians and then it became independt again after the breakdown of russian tsar empire. Then it was indipendent for 20 years before the russians came and the germans came during operation barbaross and then the russian re occupied it during operation bagration.

Das ist der Keisertruppeuniform.
Why does he sing in English?
enjoy the song, which has nothing to do with Soviet Union...it's Cossack national folk song...my great great grandfather was officer in Imperial Cavalry forces, back in the 1905. in Japan-Russo wars
Rest In peace Romanovs...your murdererers are all dead and forgotten!
lol spoken like a true russian. Yes watch your back Russia, us Americans are ALWAYS out to get you..... : P
Great song, my Ukrainian Grandfather used to sing it to the family.
@Danred88 Yes, the russian part ist very good.
@Loetjnant actually he is sining english excactly like we learned it in skool the very posh english unfortunatly your right you should liten to the russian anthem sang by him
I dont see my commentary - he is a good singer - but the people in white shirts are not russians
He could also be Ossestian as they wear those clothes and are also part persian
Who's he looking at all the time? 0:48

Polje means field and Poljushko is diminutive-hypocoristic from field :)
does it matter?
MILLION LET NAZAD NA ZEMLE BILA ODNA SEMYA I ONI RAZQOVORIVALI NA ODNOM YAZIKE.
Aye. I tried it, but its difficult. Its because we belgians have our way of speaking, and the russians have their
I tried also , and still trying
I'm not Russian, but during this song - I feel like one. lol

@semenzalupa Полюшко-поле,
If we take into account the fact that the song dates back to 1934, the lyrics might sound as an omen to the dark times that would come for the people of the Russlands and the 17 millions deads tribute they would pay in the conflict to come. Independently of any inexistent politic propaganda the song is really moving when replaced into its historical context.
I need to learn Russian to understand it, but somehow I learned the lyrics just by listening to it.
Makes me proud to have Cossack bloodlines as a (Hetman) and how brave these courageous protectors on horse back were when under attack..
What is a hetman?
Sounds really gay

I Love Mütterchen Russland
I love this, I remember this from my childhood, we sang the Finnish version of this song..
Yes, that's how I learned Russian songs, I already knew the melody from the Finnish versions! It helped me learn Russian here in the USA, and later helped me get a job...
Wait there is a Finnish version? What's it called?
Now we heard this popular song many times before, mainly by the famous Alexander Ensemble which done it well. Here Mr. Lotti tries to make the song more accessible to International audience, that's why the brief introductory explanation, as well as the intermingling of Russian and English lyrics, which has been seamlessly fused and otherwise excellently done by this phenomenally talented singer.
Just goes to show if you've got a good melody/words in any language you've got a hit that will last for generations!!
Okayyyyyy what if it's gay
I wish I was a Soviet soldier.

Helmut Lotti - "Poljushko Polje"
I agree - his Russian is excellent for one whose native tongue is Flemish. It's not like a native Russian, but at least he doesn't murder the song like some performers tend to do. Although I wish they would have kept the original "красной армии" instead of "русскай армии"...
Wonderful..greetings from Egypt!
yea, maybe you're right, but he's a good singer and is very populair in many countrie's...Btw,for Belgian people learing Russian is fucking hard...
Wunderbar!
