Really like this form of video, Luna 👍 We still get to reminisce about the campaign without you needing to spend ages going through every single motion of an episode like during fights. We can just cut straight through to the fun plot discussions & you get to choose what you'll _enjoy_ talking about. :)
@@EoBRYA I'm pretty sure that was meant to imply that Fearne's biological father is involved with the evil plot... which is really interesting and could lend credence to the idea that Fearne is more important than we thought.
I know a lot of critters think this! I don’t think it’s Fearne though, I still think her being Ruidus born was mostly to demonstrate the difference between a regular Ruidus born and an exaltant. But the tie to the grove captain is really cool and I hope it comes up again
I'm of the opinion that everything that has happened with the Apogee Solstice and the Malleus Key, particularly Ludinus' use of a Luxon Beacon, may already have set the change in motion. I don't think we need a Calamity or Schism like event but it's certainly a possibility with everything we have seen. I'm sure this conflict is going to get a name that goes with those other two whether it turns out apocalyptic or not.
I've missed and completely enjoy the videos you create reviewing CR's episodes. I can tell you put a lot of your personality and editing into making all your content. Thank you for your effort and time.
Yeah I saw some speculation about that - I don't think it's done yet though as Orym specifically said "when we get it done" which is a bit more open, plus I think Matt having a string on Orym like that is too juicy to finish it up now. But I guess we will find out!
Personally I think that Orym has an absolute loophole to exploit regarding that deal. Namely One of the Hell’s never went to the moon and therefore could never return. Dorian is still a member of Bells hells and he’s not there, therefore he can’t return, thus the deal is ongoing.
A comment I seen on a reddit thread about how sending is working again mentioned something about sending not working being an intentional effect that Ludinus had planned to disrupt the flow of information and planning structure of all the allies across Exandria. It could be possible now that Bell's Hells made it to the moon the Ruby Vanguard switched the disruption onto the moon to stop wireless communication between them and any possible allies they make there? Either that or his plan is so close to fruition that they don't see everyone communicating freely as a real threat anymore, which if true, makes Keyleth's comment about time running short even more pressing. On Imogen and Fearnes relation to the over all plan, I think they are both major pieces of the puzzle to wake Predathos up. Imogen is an Exalted born to another Exalted, while Fearne is one-of-a kind as a fey ruidisborn. Perhaps there is a Shadowfell ruidiusborn counterpart? Which connects into having keys built in the Feywild, Shadowfell, and Exandria. Somehow they need an essence from all 3 planes with a Ruidis connection to wake it up? It'll be interesting to see how our ruidusborn members are affected the longer and closer they get to Predathos.
I think Matt has been hinting at magic like sending being more likely to at the crossing of leylines, where power is heightened. I figure the Ruidus portal connects to a point of power on Issylra (near the lake) where Sending will work.
YES! Luna, I love the theory videos and it's why I subscribed initially! I enjoyed the recap videos (and they helped a lot tbh) but I always looked forward to crazy theories. Not every episode cr produces them though so I understand the shift in your videos. But this was great! I don't have anything to add but I'm going to pay attention to every theory, I think you nailed each one
the portal to the moon being in water reminds me of when those enemies popped out of a well way back when. I only vaguely remember it I think it was around when they used the first lens
My two main theories for sending are: Due to the proximity of the portal with Ruidis, they're placed in sort of the middle of both divine gates. So the leyline haywire of the endless Applebee's solstice isn't going to mess with them receiving or sending. Otherwise, I much more think this is the same phenomenon when AOL was on Isslyra. They're right next to another nexus of leylines, and so the nexus is acting like an AMP for sending to bypass the messed up leylines. As for Fearne, I've been getting the feeling the Unseeliee Court has a bigger role to play with this plot, and Fearne definitely has an important role with both Ruidis and her biodad's aim in dethroning the Moonweaver. I'd fully expect a betrayal from the Unseeliee Court with the Ruby Vanguard.
While I find the idea intriguing it doesn't seem to me like incoming signals (other sendings or the reply function) are as well explained by this as compared to outgoing sendings. So as curious as I am I'm still in a wait and see holding pattern.
I think Dorian DID respond but Orym couldn't hear it because he was already under the influence of the lake creature, and it was using that emotion to lure him outside.
The Malleous Key could have permanently locked the apogee solstice into a new alignment and magic readjusted in a different structure that now allows for sending but changes other things.
Loving this deep dice on the episode. Two notes: 1) the eye roll Liam gave during the conversation with Delilah is absolute gold. 2) I cheered so loudly upon hearing Jester come into the conversation, and as animated/random as usual.
I know I'm late, but I just watched 86, and my theory is that sending working is a narrative signal that time is running out. It would feel really weird if they get to some isolated place in Exandria with no way of communicating to anyone.
Don't you DARE 'all those years ago' me I cannot wrap my head around how I've been watch critical role for 5 years now, it still seems like a new thing to me
You and “Fraud on the Tele” used to be my go-to’s after every episode and then sadly you both stopped doing weekly breakdowns at the same time :( big fan and hope to see more!
It’s nice to hear from someone who’s thought long and hard about the game, is well informed on who’s playing and the sequence of events and how they relate to every other #%@x! aspect of the campaign without their head spinning 😵💫 ( like mine does) 😉
i wonder what will happen after the key is destroy, would that secret passage still works? Yeah, sending and revivify (among other spells i asume) werent working when the malleus key was activated and Matt has said on a few opportunities that theres a clock running and have narrated how the leylines seems to be stretching towards the bloody bridge, as if stretching them until they break, so those spells working could indicate the divine gate has been deteriorated even more? i would love for ashley to explore fearne confronting her biologic father so we can understand why he designed her to be a rudius born. An arc about not following your (toxic) family expectations is such a good narrative and will help the ruidus plot feel shared among characters and not so imogen-centric. But since ashley/fearne barely show interest in her family i doubt it will happen.
I'm not sure it's the same mechanic disrupting sending and revivify. Sending is screwed up by the leylines, like a storm screwing up a radio signal is the way I interpreted Matt's explanation. It prevents the message from getting through. But that mechanic shouldn't impact revivify. Matt has talked a lot about the gods pulling back in terror from Exandria and Ruidus. That seems to explain all the issues at the temples and the loss of revivify not the leylines. Why this is only impacting revivify and not all divine magic, who knows. Maybe it's impacting things like divine intervention as well? To argue with myself, it seems like all the god interaction spells should be broken and they are clearly working. I don't know. Maybe Matt just didn't want a party with two clerics and a druid who can cast revivify to be overly cavalier in Uthodurn?
My suspicion is that the lack of Sending was tied to Ludinus and his presence on Ruidus made it eventually fade away. The lack of revival magics I actually think is a thing from the gods, a way to ensure the Ruby Vanguard don't come back from the dead should they have divine magic. That is screws over their own followers is collateral damage they can probably find acceptable. I am curious about how the Reiloran live, I hope when we get to Kreviris we can get a good idea of how Reilorans eat and drink, whether they sleep or not, etc.
Talking about Bells Hells and having a home base. Not the first time that I've seen the comment of BH lacking a place where they can return to as they wish. The thing is BH don't really have the time for that. Unlike VM or M9, BH are more nomadic, not by choices, but by narrative reasons. They just don't have time to settle down somewhere, even for a short period. The only "home" base (and a mobile one on top of that) they had was Lord Eshteross' skyship the Silver Sun. (Which BH had for sometime honestly) Not to mention that the M9's Xhorhaus was a reward from the Bright Queen and the Kryn Dynasty, just like Greyskull Keep was for VM by helping Sovereign Uriel and the Tal'Dorei Council. I wish nothing more for BH to have a place of their own, but now is just not the time.
Great video. I thought Ludidnus has been to the moon before. Maybe he's even the one to set up the portal they discovered. The only thing Orym seems interested in is defeating the Ruby Vanguard and Predathos so I don't see him pressuring anybody to help them unless you mean he has some kind of plan for Imogen to infiltrate them then betray the bad guys?
@1:03 you know they found that entrance from the BACK door, IMHO. It's one thing to find a portal to the moon in some butt-fuck village, somewhere, which seemingly has had it's inhabitants killed over many years by an entity in the lake that, likely, bleed from the moon Ruidus to that lake by the village. But I wonder if on Ruidus it's not so hard, if you go underground? The moon is bits of Xandria, right? Just a thought. It's flippin' Matt Mercer, I bet this is his thinking.
I really want them to have a final boss battle at the end of this campaign with access to multiple character sheets, or even little snapshot battles with all the teams mixed up and aaaaah it’s so cool
i’m gonna need all the fan art of laudna going under with boaty. now… i worry you misheard what i said. i don’t want a lot of it. i need **all** of it.
Heyyyyy, nice video 💙💙 About Daggerheart: I would personally like it if the system was implemented in Issylra, as some sort of isolated environment, although I guess the Shattered Teeth would also work for that. I fear that if they just abandon Exandria to explore an entirely new world for Daggerheart many critters will be disappointed 😅 About Sending: I'm actually concerned because it worked again in Exandria (maybe because of the Key, as you said) but then back in Ruidus Orym tried to use it with Caleb and it failed. It seemed kinda arbitrary, but my only guess is that whatever the barrier surrounding Ruidus is made of, it prevents Sending from working About Dorian: I've commented this with a friend, based on a comment Taliesin made in the BG3 video, it's possible that a new ExU is coming, so Dorian might be back soon. I do want him to return to Bells Hells tho About Reilorans: I do believe they were created somehow from whoever was in the chunk of Exandria used to create the red moon, but I don't think soul magic has anything to do with it. I personally have never vibed that much with the theory that the Luxon is somehow the same as Predathos 😅😅 Also, so far it seems like in Ruidus You're cool if you have telepathy, so I wonder if in Kreviris we will see Ruidusborn getting better treatment than bormodos just because of that
Has anyone considered Delilah is the champion of the Whispered One? I feel like that explains why she can just keep persisting, passing on the dark magic as a parasite
Love hearing your thoughts. For Laundna, I kept yelling at the screen “that woman killed you!! Quit talking to her like she’s your friend.” I feel like Marisha has forgotten that part of the story, and needs to reclaim that fact.
I feel like it's very much possible that Delilah has groomed and gaslit Laudna so much over quite a long time that the murdering factor doesn't get logically acknowledged as much as it should from outside perspective.
I can only wish fearne has an specific purpose in the awakening of prethatos too cause to me it feels worse and icky if she was just brought into the world as a body for the cause to buff their ranks
You didn't miss anything. As of the latest 4-Sided Dive Travis has stated that the release information for both Season 3 of LoVM and Season 1 are still under wraps.
I don't think Laudna is the key, but could be A key. This is gonna get a little crazy but: Matt wanted them to know about the harness for a reason, I think he was actually fairly surprised that they were so willing to use it considering the amount of morally grey warnings there were around it. And Ludinus clearly had a sore spot on the fact that he wasn't a Ruidusborn, so that's why I don't think the Ruidusborn themselves are being used. I believe they're like points in Predathos' mind, and that the Exaltants become His will. All of this leads back to my theory: Ludinus wants to extract the essence of a Ruidusborn to become one, specifically an Exaltant. He will then use this to try and control the power of Predathos to make the world into the image he chooses, becoming stronger than even the petty gods. And I think that may end up being the fate of Imogen's mum, but if Bells Hells arrive at the right moment, Imogen may get a choice of her, or her mother being consumed by whatever version of the harness Ludinus now has. And Lilliana will likely do everything possible to stop Imogen being taken by it, which could ruin a lot of plans that Bells Hells may come up with, as they have a fair few things like the Hive Mind seed to gain some semblance of control. I think we're gonna get a really big head-off coming up where the plan will be layed out in detail finally, and whatever it is, we're going to be in for a wild wild ride.
it happens again and again, she hopes (or demands) for delilah to just give her more power, but you just order your patron for a gift@@martinezmartinez6453
gahh this whole Sending business frustrates me so much, on the one hand I understand the need for Matt do something to nerf the amount of info sharing and contacting that can be done through that one spell as we've seen both Imogen and Jester use and abuse it in interesting ways but I can't think of a reason for why it worked in Ria'Doin but then stopped working again when they returned to Ruidus. Unless for some strange reason the Vanguard (or the good guys got to the key and shut it off somehow) which I feel like Keyleth would have mentioned to Imogen about. Also was this just a brief moment of pause in the interference (lasting for however long it lasted as we don't know when the window opened/closed (or if it did)) or does this mean Sending and Revivify now work on Exandria again? Obviously it doesn't work on Ruidus as the Sending stone backfired on Orym. It's driving me nuts honestly
Honestly, imo weirdly enough campaign 1 was the one that had the most balance when it came to PC's importance to the plot. Campaign 2 was the Caleb show for a good chunk of it, while Campaign 1 was mostly Percy & Keyleth show, with the twins and Grog sprinkled in.
Yes and no. Imogen has gotten the lion's share of attention but I feel like the "main plot" of the campaign solidified when Matt tied Imogen, Fearne and Orym's story arcs together. Orym has more a reactionary revenge plot that has kind of quietly resolved his path towards beating the bad guys. And Fearne has also been low key where the Unseelie Court's machinations have largely slipped out of focus. It hasn't helped that this still seems like it happened to early both because they got the lore dump at a low level and because it has pushed a ton of their more sand box style play off the table (which has included the personal arcs of the other more than half of the party).
I don't think sending is back. I think the lake is where ruidis was formed. The rift between Alexandria and the moon at the lake might be accidental and it's leaking through power so sending worked as we know ruidis isn't affected by the laylines. I think being close to the rip is what caused the it to be working in that area. Maybe jester can only send to those in the area, but not to anyone else. When orim used the sending stone to Caleb, Caleb said how is this working? It's not been...and the trailed off. Just my theory.
Really like this form of video, Luna 👍

There's almost a whole other campaign in there with Fearne and her parents

Part of me wonders if Campaign 3 is going to end in a second Calamity which could help explain in world a mechanics shift to Daggerheart.
I think it would be a possibility as in the main campaign Matt lets the group decide what happens with their actions so it wouldn’t be set in stone

The deal is officially not done. If it was, Orym would have to be serving Morrey now, paying his side of the bargain.
Personally I think that Orym has an absolute loophole to exploit regarding that deal. Namely One of the Hell’s never went to the moon and therefore could never return.
Dorian is still a member of Bells hells and he’s not there, therefore he can’t return, thus the deal is ongoing.

I really just dont see CR moving away from 5e for their main campaign
I enjoy your videos!
I think the creature in the lake was an Aboleth wasn’t there some tied to Ruidus? And there a portal in the lake maybe it got through
Didn't Laudna already ask Delilah for more power? I feel like they've had that conversation a few other times in the past.
She asked in the latest episode as of this comment and Delilah basically said keep feeding me lmao
it happens again and again, she hopes (or demands) for delilah to just give her more power, but you just order your patron for a gift@@martinezmartinez6453
Great video.
gahh this whole Sending business frustrates me so much, on the one hand I understand the need for Matt do something to nerf the amount of info sharing and contacting that can be done through that one spell as we've seen both Imogen and Jester use and abuse it in interesting ways but I can't think of a reason for why it worked in Ria'Doin but then stopped working again when they returned to Ruidus.
*positive feedback because I liked the video*
I wouldn't be surprised that Imogen is the key to everything. This campaign has been the Imogen show.
They are your son-glasses. I’ll leave now.
Bahaha ok this made me laugh
TEAM GREEN!💚
I don't think sending is back. I think the lake is where ruidis was formed. The rift between Alexandria and the moon at the lake might be accidental and it's leaking through power so sending worked as we know ruidis isn't affected by the laylines. I think being close to the rip is what caused the it to be working in that area. Maybe jester can only send to those in the area, but not to anyone else. When orim used the sending stone to Caleb, Caleb said how is this working? It's not been...and the trailed off. Just my theory.

Omg this brings me back to the old'in days🥹💜 also I loved those glasses at the beginning 😂
