When people like Ben are abusive then they improve and get their stuff together, they have to be better for the next person. They can’t expect to get the abused person back no matter how much the abuser loves them. And part of actually being a better person is understanding they hurt the one they love irretrievably by the behaviour that broke the relationship. They have to understand they have to let the one they love go completely, for all time. They have to make peace with loving and not being loved back. Thanks for a great emotional reaction.
