You like Huey Lewis and the News? Their early work was a little too new wave for my taste. But when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. I got to see an Evil Dead musical a while back, glad to see more horror adaptations, bound to be wacky but it's clear everyone involved has a lot of fun.
Was just reading toward the end of Bret Easton Ellis' newest nonfiction novel, White, where he talks quite a bit about this musical; something I didn't know existed (though I Should have, as Ellis is my favorite postmodern author..) & still can't believe does. So I had to stop reading a minute to see if I could find some actual footage, as I have here & just as Ellis himself said of it; it's very entertaining. There are actual “slime tutorials” (theater-parlance; read: bootlegs) of the Broadway show! American psycho as a musical is actually so smart because of bateman’s obsession with music
Lol their dancing is adorable
Why didn't they make "Hip to be Square" into a musical number?
According to an interview with Duncan Shiek, he decided to use the song itself as was it was because "it was just too fun not to use."
