Just fyi because I think it is interesting: Fantasia is intentionally not a typical film when it comes to its sound or structure or a lot of other things. It is all ABOUT the music and highlighting it. Nice video! 😊
As 2d animate college learner Gotta say that sound important To the point you should do the sound first then animate If you look into anime the sound and music play crucial roles of telling the emotion You can even cry for some song without seeing it or know what happened
Thank you for this very nice informative video! I really enjoyed watching it and I learned a lot of things. Also very nice microphone it sounds very crisp and I love your beanie! 💛
Hey! I used the MS setting on the top and adjusted the parameters so that only the back of it was picking up audio, then just made sure to monitor it with my headphones! Hope this helps!
any moving picture needs their own crispy sounds depending on the direction but thats pretty true especially if it needed an illusion of a moving world, like you could add sounds like a chirping bird even without it appearing in the scene
Seems like youre downplaying fantasia to its core. Whats next, youll criticize the original Tom & Jerry for its excessive use of music? Seemingly praising Japanese work and pushing western work aside. What a waste of time, you said a whole lot of nothing.
I totally agree, I am s senior sound designer and I've been doing sound for over about two decades, Fantasia comes from a background of various Disney movies where they prioritize music over sound as an actual "Form" or you might say "style" of doing things, In fact, Fantasia had a previous movie in 1940 where Mickey wears a wizard hat and makes a mess with brooms and water, pretty famous scene where the music is in sync with the motions of the characters. I also think the comparisons are non relatable in time, style, culture and tone etc I would say that Fantasia is even more stressful overtime with just music than that Death Note scene where is just a single event happening. There are too many good sound design examples and variations for western animations not only Disney, while Japanese work has been stuck in the same style for decades. I see the point she is tryn to make but I also think she chose poor examples in both cases. On a side not, that yellow anime teacher sounds nothing unique, pretty obvious slimey sound. Instead of interviewing an actual sound designer she just echo chamber her own thoughts. Anywaysssssssss.

audio brings most dull things alive like anime\animation
