Bummed I missed getting you in the log, George. I just couldn't, for the life of me, get PSK to work on my silly little laptop. Oh well, next time! Thanks for the fun, and for the great podcast.
Thank you so much Adam for activating HRWBOTA and making this video! I won’t lie, a little tear rolled down my face while watching this. Thank you so much. Mark, N6MTS, last in the log for the day.
Brilliant, Adam! I love how you adapted with you were missing an adaptor. :) I'm not sure I could have run a CW pileup keying that way--not without a lot of practice in advance! Well done. Great working you, too. Cheers & 72, Thomas K4SWL
You've always been a great inspiration and TH-cam Elmer. Your videos got me to get out to try SOTA for the first time, some time ago! Thanks for that. You're a legend 🙌 keep up the EPIC work!
That explains why you seemed to be struggling when i worked you on Sunday! I was at my usual POTA spot (K-1212 chatfield state park) and managed to work both you and Tom. Apparently he was even using the antenna i designed for him. As for the adapter, i actually permanently keep one on all my radios that use 1/4" because all my CW keys use 1/8". I try to ensure that all my radios use a single connector type to prevent that stuff from happening. Excellent job doing CW even against the odds my friend! 73, Jonathan KM4CFT
Oh I'm still around, just less free time to make and edit videos of my adventures. Got a couple of others in the editing queue as well that are pretty dang cool!
@@K6ARK I definitely understand bud, recording and editing take a ton of time. Just happy to see a new video from you! I'm looking forward to the next release.
Nice work! I love seeing you pack chonky radios up things. I overheard your exchange with Vince, I think I worked him right after. I'm also going to get that 2 element 2m yagi wrapped up as soon as I get the right size shock cord.
That adapter for the 1/8" jack has bit me a couple times as well as my PL-259 to BNC adapter. The last time that happened I was scratching my head as to how that happened & an Amish buggy cruised by ... The comment I thought at that moment was I bet he never had that problem, only me, lol! Cheers, Davey --KU9L
Great work Adam! You have the best vids in the hobby. ICOM and Yaesu should be sponsoring you for their survival! Or at the least consulting with you on what feature set to build next. Hey I know your pack probably changes in configuration, but is there a video on how you pack your kit out there or could you make one? Always trying to improve. Thank you for your work on the CW subtitles, much appreciated!
What was the temps while you were out there. Dec 3rd was it? I like hiking Borrego and Blair Valley areas.... but only if the temps arent crazy. I mean today Dec 7, the temps are great 60 - 65 in Ranchita, altho Borreego itself is 80F today.
My problem is that my key at home has the larger plug. I should probably just swap it out so it has the same 3.5mm plug and glue the dang adapter into the radio. 😆
@@K6ARKmy grandfather had eight hammers on the farm & I have 8 of many adapters now for very same reasons, some day every radio will have them all. The lesser used radios get the most forgotten incidents, lol.
I found what I think is just about the perfect case for it. The fit is excellent and protection is adequate. photos.app.goo.gl/uhKtzoKGHnvVtj1F8 amzn.to/488waQt

You needed an amp or higher bands 😉 could never hear you in Oregon.

Love your videos.
Thank you, Bill! Appreciate the kind words.
Looks like a lot of fun, even if there was some frustration. Portable radio is always full of surprises and learning opportunities.

I knew there was something I was missing when I went to work a couple of peaks this weekend.
Everyone told me that the 7300 doesn’t work for SOTA, but Adam proves it time and time again that it can be done 😅
Oh yeah, it works great for SOTA. Good training weight too to work off that thanksgiving 🦃

Quite nice, but I was up over 4,000 ft elevation. It can vary a lot.

Another great youtube video. What logging software do you use for portable events?
Thanks! I use OutD log for Android.
how did you protect the ic7300 in the pack while hiking? @K6ARK

@@K6ARK Thanks man, i was looking for a nice case from my new 7300 i got last week. 73 W6DKW
Hello, a noob question. Why the OGS-3D vs the internal tuner of the 7300 ? Thank you for the video.
It's only suitable for up to a 3:1 mismatch - not enough for a non-resonant wire antenna on all bands.
Thanks @@K6ARK 73 from Belgium.

Whose callsign is it anyway? Where the points don't matter. 😉😁
Yes! Exactly 😆
1 hr hike with the 7300 etc? That's not like you.. explain?
Sure it is! 1 hr/2.5mi is just a short jaunt. Why not have a little fun with a different station?
Hahaha. Heard me using the club call nice and loud ‘WE4DX’

Yeah, I should do a current kit dump video to show how I pack each one. That would be good!
