F A D E D C U L T U R E.
Fading Steps:
Trim top to desired length
- 8 Guard on top
- Set in guideline with 0 lever closed
- lever open set in next guideline
- 1 guard lever open next guideline
- 2 & 3 guard blend up finish connecting side length to top
- Blend out top guideline w/ 1.5 guard open to 3 qtr
- Blend second guideline w/ .5 guard open to 3 qtr
- Continue blending second guideline w/ 1 guard open to 3 qtr
- Blend first guideline w zero, lever open tad bit
- Open lever half way, continue blending
- Open lever 3/4 continue blending
- Continue blending with lever open all the way
- Do any touch up work
- Use trimmers to take out bottom hair
- Use electric shaver
- Do any line up with trimmers
- Shave with straight razor

Y’all are goats, I started cutting my dads hair in the beginning of quarantine when I was 12 and I didn’t know nothing about fading, I was using clippers that didn’t even have a lever so I was just trying to fade with clipper and comb. Then I actually had some clippers with lever and you guys were the ones that taught me how to fade and now I’m almost 14 getting better and better thanks to y’all🙏🏽

A video I'd like to see is how you move the clipper while making each guidelines and when blending them. Like the motion of flicking out, keeping it flat, using the corners, flicking with the corners, etc. Because like you said, we can learn the steps all we want, but it won't be as good unless the get the motion and technique down, so that would help a lot. It can be multiple part video as well (:

I’m getting better at it slowly, I just have a question why do you use #0.5 guard to blend the 2nd guide line then use the #1 after. I’ve been doing it and its worked out but I still don’t get it. Ive been using that open lever 4 times for a while. I feel it take out that last guideline easier and smoother. The closed, middle, open never really worked for me. I found myself having to close it a tad bit when I had it in the middle to help remove the line so that’s how I’ve started using the open 4 times method. Another great tutorial 🤙🏾
