So did he turn into one of them, or did one of them break into him home to carry him away to sea? [EDIT] I mean if he had changed while in his home, or if they abducted him to do things, possibly against his will.
@@uncertaintytoworldpeace3650 Lmao. Thats not even close to being true. But even if it was, thats still means he was scared of black people. He was a pathetic little weirdo who wrote good horror.

This is an interesting little story - If it wasn't because it was written by August Derleth, I would assume it to have been written before the Shadow over Innsmouth. In this story Innsmouth seems less decayed, and far more like a normal coastal town. As if it is an earlier stage in the conception of the place. The style is also interesting. It has a far more mythic feel to it. I think The White Ship is the closest thing to it, that I can think of, in the way it straddles the gulf between being a Dreamlands story, but is also decidedly taking place in our world.

So from this we can determine that Hp lovecraft was not racist but just racist towards black people

So its basically The Shape of Water except it takes place in the 20's and the girl is the monster instead of the guy?
Actually judging by the time at which they were created "the shape of water" is basically this
