    My great grandfather worked the flax mills in sion mills. In 1916 He was offered a position in paisley scotland at anchor mills. My parents in the 50s also worked at anchor mills where they met. Interesting history and both beautiful countries

    I spent 12 years of my life working in this mill. it was hard work but great craic!

    I absolutely love Irish Linen fabric....and I have designed and created my Joanlido Irish Heritage Designs /Collections in 100% Irish Linen and all handcrafted in Northern Ireland for export to overseas global/international markets.....Irish Linen is so loved and desired all over the world...this is our finest Heritage fabric and we should be so proud of it!

    I was recently in Ireland and was at Sion Mills and was shocked to learn that a failed business man was going to be allowed to tear down part of the mill, and install an Anaerobic digestion that will threaten the river which is known for its salmon fishing.
    He has been allowed by the local building authority to go around every regulation that would have protected the site. Not only that it would take way the only fields the children have played football on for over 100 years.

      A bit of luck on that account: Euromillions winner Margaret Loughrey bought the mills to save them from being turned into a bio-waste plant. I don't know if her plan to turn it into a tourist spot has gone anywhere.
