    Loved this vid, gorgeous pieces, love the big pot and the mirrors especially. Next time you do a day of antiquing can you please take us along with you and vlog it. Also would love to see any antique/vintage jewellery you have or just an updated jewellery collection in general.

    I love how 1910/1920 "is not very old" in the UK. Here in the US, we think so old! I have really enjoyed the peeks over the years at your mom's antique finds so I really love this video!

      Honestly its not really, I mean now it is about 100 years old, but when it comes to antiques, its "younger". I mean some stuff from the 30s and 40s I wouldn't really classify as antique.

    • @Mokiecon
      @Mokiecon 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@ahoward3503 Agree, especially in countries like China with buildings that are thousands of years old. But for a young country like the US and a state like California where most of our residents are immigrants from the last 100 years, it is really hard to find anything but "younger" antiques.

    Loved your pieces of furniture, I’d paint those wardrobes white in the room that you haven’t done yet, the same with the bed, they’re beautiful pieces of furniture that just need to be painted in the colour of your choice. I love old furniture and revamping it up. Great finds Fluer

    For the pot on the floor how about dried wheat colored flowers and plants. I think wheat/beige dried plants would look lovely

    You could always look into painting and "antiquing" up the furniture in the room that you don't really like if it isn't a room you use very often or love. Maybe repurpose it if its decent quality wood, may take some muscle in sanding and painting, but could be a fun project

    Absolutely loved this, please please do more. Lol. As for the pot, I have had dried lavender previously and it’s terrible for shedding, so something to bear in mind. I ended up finding a nice bunch of faux lavender on Etsy, that I have now in place of the dried stuff. But it can be difficult to find a good quality bunch that doesn’t look like cheap plastic. Xxx

    Hi Fleur, have you thought about going into the English countryside and cutting some flowers and drying them for your antique container? Gathering huge bunches and have them be abundant in the container. Also maybe repaint in a fun color that bedroom furniture to give it some new life.

    I have always been obsessed with mid century modern. But, recently I have become serious in finding vintage MCM pieces. I found an amazing coffee table at a retro shop and also purchased a vintage credenza on instagram and a side table at an antique shop. I really prefer purchasing antique/vintage than new. Except, I did purchase a new couch recently because I feel bad ruining a beautiful vintage couch. lol. Love this video! :)

    The Station Mill Antiques Centre in Chipping Norton is a treasure trove! Would thoroughly recommend.

  • @kat_trabue
    @kat_trabue 4 ปีที่แล้ว +38

    I would recommend testing the window for lead. With the chipping paint if it is lead (which is sadly likely unless it's a reproduction) it is very dangerous to have in a home with children. I'm sure someone will jump on me for saying this but education about lead is sorely lacking and I'd always rather say something than not. A single paint chip can cause lifelong problems for a child.

    • @emilie9475
      @emilie9475 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't want to seem alarmist or anything but please do this Fleur! My grandfather grew up in a lead mining town and developed terminal brain cancer as an adult which his doctors thought might have been potentially caused by childhood lead exposure. Obviously it is very different growing up in an area with a lot of lead but childhood exposure to lead can be very dangerous in small amounts too!

    • @LOLhahaha953
      @LOLhahaha953 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is such a great idea! Fleur, you can get lead testing kits at the hardware store or online for a very affordable price. Better safe than sorry!

    • @NJ-hi9lc
      @NJ-hi9lc 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just need to brush off any loose paint (do this outdoors) and spray with a clear coat with matte finish. That will contain any lead.

    • @kat_trabue
      @kat_trabue 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@NJ-hi9lc @N J Unfortunately, no. I am the mother of a lead poisoned child and have dedicated years of my life now to researching lead. Sadly people today are taught that lead is less dangerous than it really is and that they don't need to be as careful as they really do. First of all, brushing off the flake would contaminate the yard. Then if a child played in that area they could be poisoned. And while a clear coat would make it *less* dangerous, it definitely doesn't make it safe. It's all too easy for flakes to still come off over time and you not notice. Even a microscopic amount of lead, a single tiny paint fleck, is enough to give a child permanent brain damage. It's just not worth the risk to have a lead item in your home. The only way this item would be safe would be to have the paint totally stripped professionally by people who know how to work with lead and then to repaint it. Even then it's not ideal but it's the safest option outside of tossing it. It's just such a shame that chipping lead paint is being marketed as a style of home decor.

    Love this vlog Fleur and love these pieces, re the vase you can get really good faux flowers these days, (Neptune comes to mind) and perhaps fill it with greens and whites in spring/summer maybe in a different place then where you had it use warm rusts and gold shades for autumn/winter. Also those old porthole mirrors would look fab on The Hague Blue wall but understand you have your pictures in there, unless they went in the bedroom yet to be done. Either way it all looks fabulous!! xx

    For that pot I recommend a mix of dried lavender rosemary and cat's tail. Just have a little look at how pet safe they are first. Also loving the vids. Also for the furinture in that bedroom instead of getting rid of it, why not look at re-finishing it, so that it matches the asthetic of the rest of the space. You could even make it a family project and get little river to help you with some of the smaller tasks?

    This may be right up there with my most favorite videos of yours! I actually prefer seeing the items in their spot or even temporary spot, as opposed to just holding them up. It provides much more inspiration and potentially new ways to repurpose items, which is often the case with antiques and unique finds!! Well done!
    My favorites pieces are the wall cabinet with glass on the sides and those wonderful brass measuring cups! Absolutely lovely! While I like the plant pot, I think it would be great out on your patio. It feels like it would compliment the whole pizza oven vibe! It has a very strong Southwest feeling to me, which doesn’t necessarily “go” with the rest of your home per se... but I’m a fan of eclectic pieces mixed in with other styles... so you can make things “go” by how you incorporate them. Perhaps the pot would work in your most contemporary space. Or maybe even in your next project bedroom with the very rustic window/mirror. You could really play up that rustic, Southwestern feel with the bed linen choices and an earthy color palette. Not so sure the portholes would work as well in there if you go for a more rustic theme... but I can visualize those portholes in a study, office, library, bathroom, powder room... a quick lipstick check by the door to the garage or main exit door, could be cute. You could even put one down at River’s tip-toe height (they grow so fast) in a space where she likes to hang out! So many possibilities!

    Came here after Elle Fowlers interior video and what a difference! So much character in your haul vs her "catalogue home" that's reflecting current trends. I like her asthetic and what she chose but it's too styled and I personally also get second hand stuff and style it as it fits into my apartment. Anyway, lovely stuff you got 👍🏼

    I would take note of the width of the most narrow part of that pot and keep an eye out for a nice dried/ faux plant at HomeSense. They almost always come in the ugliest pots, but maybe you can find one that could fit inside of that one? Then you can cover the top with dry moss so you can’t tell that a fake pot is stuck in there.
