Definitely didn't expect Ari Aster of all directors to tackled Amercian politics, but I forgot that he only directs horror.

Smart idea for a teaser. The reels give you just enough info and world-building but don’t spoil anything major.
Right? I was just going to comment this. It's a deft way of showcasing the cast and teasing the storyline while not giving away any major scenes. Me likey.
True. I can't tell you how many trailers I've seen that give away so many plot points that I don't feel I need to watch the movie.
Subtle details are a rarity today in filmmaking. It is a pleasure when an artist makes an effort to create layers for repeated viewings.

@@Uppearance It's absolutely not a rarity. Noone's fault that you choose crappy movies.

@@Pataganjaits a creative and interesting way to show the actors and set up the conflicts of the film, quit being such a negative nancy
Thank you A24. In a world of remakes, reboots, sequels, and just generally unoriginal films you stand as a beacon of hope for innovation.
It's not the 'world' making 'remakes, reboots, sequels and just generally unoriginal films'. It's very isolated corporate studios. There's a 'world' making fresh, challenging, high quality films every year. Just as there's droves of musical acts making music far better than what's on generic corporate Billboard stations. You just have to seek it out. But it's very much worth it. Check out film makers from Bulgaria, Japan, Latvia, Argentina, Ireland, and other smaller countries as well as more indy sources in the U.S, UK, France, and other larger nations.
@@kevinlakeman5043but it's the world that doesn't go out to see them, doesn't look for them at home, doesn't seek them out at all.
@@kevinlakeman5043 I generally agree with your sentiment but found what you said here to be both rude and very unhelpful for OC.
Maybe name some specific filmmakers you think are worth checking out or something - naming countries like this isn't helpful for most people
There are hundreds of amazing original indie and small budget films every single year. Just because there’s blockbusters with more sequels and reboots doesn’t mean nothing is original lol, that’s such an overreaction
@@ExtracreditttttRude? Nothing rude about it. The original comment was lame and uniformed. I find it very hypocritical of you, to also claim the comment was "unhelpful", while literally being "unhelpful" yourself, since I had to Google the meaning of "OC". Why didn't you simply write "original content"? Not very inclusive, now, is it?
austin playing a weirdo again, we love to see it. He totally looks like a cult leader lmaoo

This is the kind of anxiety and depressing movie I don't want, I want to escape reality not be confronted with it. Can't wait to see it in theaters

@@jacquelineklingesI knew I had seen him somewhere else. I just couldn't remember.
you are here for it. Do you have other clichés as well?
This looks like it'll be Aster's most thoroughly modern film to date.
I’d argue it’s a period film being that it wants to focus specifically on pandemic politics.
How so?
WHEN ITS SPECIFICALLY SET IN THE PAST ?
@@robonick3607 You’re right, it’s 100% a period film, and yet it feels the most rooted in contemporary times. His other films, while theoretically taking place in the present, are less anchored to the present as a time period. In being a period film it becomes more viscerally modern.

The part that pinged my radar: the description of the town as "rocked by murders" in that news clip at the end. I wonder if we're gonna end up making a surprise swerve into horror midway through an otherwise "normal" political drama

I live in Truth or Consequences, NM where this was shot...tiny little trippy town with way more than enough paranormal weirdness to be the setting, plus there was a pretty well known serial killer out here back in the 90's . That being said one of the calmest and most laid back places someone could live or visit and im from Southeast AK originally...The filming of it took like over a year and basically the entire downtown was the set so it was kinda a major pain in the ass getting around it....glad to see the trailer finally drop been waitin...
