I found my 4.5 hook on Amazon in a generic set of hooks. It has quickly become my favorite hook with most of my projects. I have been collecting hooks over the years and it helps to have all the odd sizes when you need them. Such a lovely sweater!!

I have a 4.5 hook. I don’t have a 6.0! They seem to be popular, but most of my hooks I’ve had a long time. Some of the odd sizes are in the multi packs. It’s a beautiful sweater.

I had a 4.5 mm hook that I loved. I bought it at least 15 years ago at Hobby Lobby. It was a wooden Furls-like hook. I actually bought a 4.5 mm and a 5.0 mm that day. Oddly enough they both broke this year. They were especially comfortable because the handle was quite thick and I have arthritis, so it made using a smaller hook more bearable. I will buy another pair of this type of hook if I find them for a good price. I do miss them.

Hi Elena, I have to confess I always wait for your tutorials, I love the way you explain everything on detail, I don't know how to read patterns so I love to see tutorials like yours I figured it out my own measurements because like you said is up to me the length of the body, sleeves and neck opening.
I have 7 skeins of that same yarn in a different color so I will do this beautiful SWEATER for me.

I think you can find the 4.5mm hook in the Clover Amours and Clover Soft Touch, I believe Boye and Susan Bates has one too. Hobby Lobby has them.

I'm not sure why I have not been receiving your emails - I haven't been receiving A LOT of my emails although I miss yours most of all!!!! Thanks for making this video and giving everyone ALL of the information that is needed to make this top in the video.....I have always found that it's a good idea to watch the video BEFORE starting a project as when you watch and pay attention, 99% of the time ALL the information is included at the beginning of the video....When we seek out and find the answers to our own questions we seem to remember them better than when we try to get others to do the work for us!!! The tutorial is greatly appreciated!!!

my 4.5 mm hook came in a set or ergonomic hooks i got for christmas, so i can't say for sure, but you can more than likely find them on amazon. i think hobby lobby usually has that size as well.

I tried to find this sweater’s pattern so I could see if I have enough of the yarn I’d want to use for it. I couldn’t find this sweater on Etsy at all. I just need to see a size chart and a comparison between Yarn Bee Sugarwheel cotton solid at 335yds and what you are using. I don’t think you ever said how many yards it was, only grams. I love this design, but I won’t start a sweater unless I know I have enough to do my size, ( L-XL), and finish the project. If you could respond to this soon I would very much appreciate it as I’d love to begin making this sweater! 🙂

I am loving this sweater and mine is in red... I need a Christmas sweater and this will be perfect. It's hard for me to judge size, I've lost a bit of weight...( total 200 pounds) so I'm having a hard time figuring my size now. Hello Melinda, I have that same weight know after loosing 40 lbs. I been crocheting size XL AND 1XL just as a reference because remember crochet always stretched out after wearing. Enjoy your project. Blessings from Virginia.
I know you did this a year ago... HL has discontinued the yarn!!! Do you have a suggestion for a substitute? LOVE this sweater and I would like it to come out as close to your example as possible, but without seeing/feeling the yarn, I'm afraid I will mess up! Thanks!!! 😊💜
From looking at the other comments it's DK weight (3) so probably something like yarn bee must be Merino or maybe even a mercerized cotton because it looks like it has a fair bit of sheen. I'm gonna try it with the merino blend.
Both links don't show this pattern. I look through both ravelry and etsy in your shops and the pattern isn't there.

There is a 4.5mm hook included in my set of Armour Clover hooks (bought on ebay) - very reasonably priced!
Also, I want to ask you a question - when counting chains to skip - it looks like you are counting the chain where the last stitch was worked. Is that true? I never count the chain in which I've already worked a stitch. Thank you!

As for the question, it probably looks like that on camera or my chains are uneven :) . I usually don’t include the chains that I worked a stitch in.
I just bought 4.5 clover crochet hook from Joann using my 50% off coupon.
So if you are making large size how many chains would you be doing.I will try the 89 chain .

I do believe that this brand of yarn is exclusive to Hobby Lobby. You might be able to find it on etsy or eBay if no Hobby Lobby's are near you.

I have attempted the first sleeve 3 times and ripped it out 3 times. I am now starting row 2 of sleeve and have chained 3. My question is, do I put my first dc In the same st as my ch 3 or do I put my first dc in the next st. I could not tell from your video where you placed your first st. Very nice and easy. But I wish you could explain measurements better. For instance, I’m struggling to understand how many inches are the shoulders for different sizes. You did not mention for the one you’re making.

It jumps to you saying 89 chains. Can’t you just tell me what the chain is measuring
Susan Stone what size do you need? I’ll try to answer your questions, as I was confused also by what she says on video vs what she flashes across the screen for the various sizes. For myself, making an XL, I chained 89, but placed my stitch marker in 34th chain, not 29th, as she says is for ‘all sizes’ [the screen shows to mark 34th ch for XL & 39th ch for larger sizes]. Then, when you begin working on the chain, I worked 15 (not 10 as she says in video, but as indicated on the screen for my selected size), then I continue following her pattern instructions ... working up to your “marker” (placed in the #chain according to your selected size-for my XL the marker was in ch 34), then I followed the design instructions again and my ending chain count was 15, for the final 15 dc, same as the beginning of the row.
I found the initial 89 chains was a sufficient width for my “XL” sizing. If you need more width to accommodate your desired sizing, then you would most likely have to have a longer starting chain (with an odd number count-which was flashed on the screen) and do some math to determine the required number of dc for the beginning and end of your panel in order for the “design” detail to fall at the appropriate part of your panel. Hope this explanation helps. 🤗
@@kathrynborbacs3380 I am not sure why were you confused. I stated in my comment (pinned on top of the comment section) that there are 2 options on how to design this sweater. It's up to you with what option to go. If you follow the one on the video, the 'shell' panels will be closer to the seams, if you follow option #2 (flashing on the screen for ALL sizes), the panels will be closer to the center. All it takes is to watch the video first, pay attention to notes on the screen and use some critical thinking. It's not complicated at all. One just needs to take the time to grasp it. That's it.
