    This young man and his parent's make Canada proud! Vancouver is the oasis of Canada and if you have a chance to visit it you will not be disappointed. Unlike most of Canada, where the winters are extremely cold, Vancouver's weather is not, but it is wet, as it rains alot during the winter months. What is unique about the Vancover area is that, although it does not get alot of snow, the mountains are close and you can still enjoy winter sports like skiing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, etc or you can stay in Vancouver and walk along the beaches or hike in Stanley Park.

      In Canada, or any western country, a wite person can access every single career option an Asian has, doctor, lawyer, engineer, programmer. An Asian person can never be Justin Trudeau, Justin Bieber, Drake, Ryan Reynolds, or for females, any A-list model or actress or singer. It does not matter talent or hard work, you can't tell me Asians lack those, Canada will never promote you to represent them cuz of race.

    This is my life exactly in korea. I moved here with my wife who is an engkish teacher, I dint teach so I get to just stay home. I'm not allowed to work with an F3 visa so I just coffee shop bounce and hangout. I speak just a little korean and just a little is enough to start an encounter with respect. I don't speak english at all when I am out in public, if I don't know how to say what I want then I'm just quiet. Korea is a beautiful country and everyone has been so kind to me and my wife. 1000x better than the US

    I am a Korean American in my 50s and I had a Korean friend whose father was a nuclear engineer who worked on the 2nd Korean nuclear power plant in Kori(고리) near Pusan. So my friend lived in Kori and back in the 70s it was not a developed town and one day a German engineer visited the town and the whole townsfolks came out to see this tall white man. My friend said it was the first time he saw a white man and the older 할머니들 just wanted to touch this beautiful white man.

      A bIac or South-East Asian guy who does that will not get the same response, just accept it , stop being an apologist. Nobody said it's unique to Korea, it happens in all of Asia + South America.

    • @hikjee
      @hikjee 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      The guy is simply displaying politeness and respect towards his parents, a behavior that is quite ordinary and not particularly exceptional. However, the repetitive praise of "he is so handsome" stands out for no reason.
      In many previous documentaries, individuals of color or from Southeast Asia have consistently lacked equivalent treatment.

    As a fan of your documentaries, known for their compelling topics and inspiring stories, I must admit finding this one rather dull. The guy comes from a wealthy family, studied in Korea, and found a job. Good for him, but what's the noteworthy aspect?
    He's lauded for his looks, seemingly only because he's white.
    In Western countries, he's just an average-looking guy.

    • @kimleemoon
      @kimleemoon 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Exactly, I was wondering why they did this documentary. Nothing special about his situation at all. Plenty of non-white foreigners have broken into the Korean entertainment industry, appeared in music videos, done modeling and had small parts in k-dramas. Plenty have married Koreans and run successful TH-cam channels. That’s way more interesting than this guy’s story. One woman even started a cosmetics company in Korea.
      And he’s definitely just an average looking guy in the western world.

    • @hikjee
      @hikjee 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@kimleemoon Completely agree with you. There are touching stories about foreigners struggling to find their place in Korea. We want to hear these stories, not about an ordinary guy missing his parents. Who cares about hearing 'oh, he is sooo handsome' every minute!

      honestly the privilege white people have is so adamant here in Korea. I know a Pilates instructor and she says if she has a picture of a white person to advertise her studio it attracts more people to come... and the most average white people are fawned over and so many opportunities are just handed to them

      Where did I say that it's bad? You can read all my other comments, never once did I say it's bad, just calling it as it is. If u think I'm crying, that's your sub-conscious speaking, it's not coming from me. You would be treated better than the equivalent version of you in any other foreign race, that's all it means, that's what it's about. What it's not about is, "nobody gave me a million dollars for being wite, where's my privilij, hurr ", which is the response that is often used.
