sallea - From the academic idea to an industrial product

3D printing has led to a paradigm shift in the world of design. But many high performance materials are incompatible with printing. Water-soluble, printed salt templates give these materials, like magnesium, access to complex lattice structures with the potential to heal bone, make lighter space shuttles and efficient cooling systems.
Der 3D-Druck hat zu einem Paradigmenwechsel in der Welt des Designs geführt. Doch viele Hochleistungsmaterialien sind noch immer nicht direkt druckbar. Wasserlösliche, gedruckte Gussformen aus Salz geben solchen Materialien, wie zum Beispiel Magnesium, Zugang zu komplexen Gitterstrukturen. Diese haben so das Potenzial, Knochen zu heilen, leichtere Raumfähren zu ermöglichen oder Kühlsysteme noch effizienter zu gestalten.
