    It's so funny because all the reasons Adam is struggling to connect with this show are the exact same reasons for why I'm obsessed with it. This is the first MCU series that's had me coming back to watch every episode more than once, and I come away with something new every time (like Marc actually _not_ being the one who fronted in the premier when Steven was in the village with blood on his hands). I don't know why it's this show in particular that's hooked me so well, but it's everything, man. It's everything.

    When Marc dropped the pieces of constellation map (idk what you called that) in the sand so that Steven will find it harder, it sends a massage that he is jealous of Steven about Layla. Steven is perfect for Layla, they have parallel interests and hobbies which is totally opposite of Marc. The way Layla looked at Steven, Marc is surely jealous seeing it haha!

  • @neomuneochicken4585

    people really need to get away of the thought that EVERYTHING is supposed to be connected to each other in the MCU. Moon Knight MIGHT be connected later on, but for now it's just his origin story. Also it's more likely that Midnight Sons could be a thing. At least Oscar Isaac wants it to happen.

  • @AnotherMarvelGuy
    @AnotherMarvelGuy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +29

    Adam mentioned how hes not enjoying it as much cause he cant look into the future of the character, but I think that's one of the main reasons why I love this show. We haven't had a true standalone project like this in a long time. Its an origin, but its not relying on MCU connectivity to show its worth. With only 6 episodes, I wanted to learn and be surprised by a brand new character, rather than see the Hulk show up and take the spotlight for an episode. Those moments definitely have their place in certain projects, but this is introducing us to some really great concepts/characters and in my opinion, its a great thing that this show is FOCUSED on its plot and its plot only...
    It seemed like very other show was waiting for a cameo (Loki worked tho), a twist, or too many moving parts in the finale, which many people have complained about and I really feel like by the end of this, we will have an amazing 6 episodic MOON KNIGHT story. 😎

    • @djoscartj
      @djoscartj 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Accepting the show as a standalone, not tied to the "main" MCU events, Moon Knight is still moving VERY slow for a 6-episode series. For me personally, the show was advertised as this dark, gritty, in-your-face-violence series (similar to Daredevil without being rated R/Mature), and it ended up being closer to "The Mummy" with Brendan Fraser mixed with Indiana Jones, having a cupcake truck chase scene with George Michael's "Wake Me Up" as the accompanying track--might as well have had the Benny Hill theme. Granted, Oscar Isaac's acting is incredible, but there are too many comedic lines that kill the vibe they were aiming for. I'm finding myself not finishing the episodes in one sitting, something that never happened before, even with the slow build-up episodes of WandaVision.

    • @AnotherMarvelGuy
      @AnotherMarvelGuy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@djoscartj damn thats a shame. im loving it and I find it one of the best paced shows. We'll see how the finale lands! Personally though, i never thought it was gonna be dark but ep5 apparently is

      @@AnotherMarvelGuy Upon finishing the series (I finished it for a 2nd time last night), I must say Moon Knight redeemed itself and pulled me back in with a phenomenal episode 5 for reasons I wasn't even expecting. All in all it was a good series, but I do think they could have done more with the first 3 episodes.

    So far my favorite moment from this show is in the first episode when Steven is ordering a steak, holding back tears. I'd love to see more simple, yet powerful scenes like that in this show, and in Marvel as a whole. Nothing flashy, no witty one liners, just raw emotion, very refreshing.

    • @lynnettethuita9348
      @lynnettethuita9348 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi,
      I feel that lately, Marvel has really invested in raw emotions. In this show, for example, not just steven, you can feel the emotion from Khonshu, when he says, "I remember that night, I remember all nights," it sounds sad and some kind of longing, from Harrow as well, in the first episode, the emotion from his conviction, the pain in the final scene of this episode.
      Marc when he's speaking to Layla on the boat, I feel he portrays the emotional response of most proud people, or people who don't know to express their emotions.
      Overall, the show explores various scenes of powerful emotional expressions, and I guess that's why Marvel shows have become such hits.

    I think we have had some exploration into mental health from the Marvel universe a few times. To begin with, Edward Norton's Hulk (which I believe is still the same canon as Mark Ruffalo's but they just switched actors) dealt with a dual personality and tried to mentality better himself from his anger with mediation, yoga, breathing etc. In Iron Man 3, Tony had extreme anxiety. Then in Wandavision, she was trying to cope with loss that resulted in detachment from reality.

The only reason as to why he doesn't have an avatar in the mcu is because he's not in the over-void which is like a sort of dimensional plane where certain gods resign after earth. Hector, on my first watch I thought that it was implied Layla's dad taught the forger too but on a rewatch (with subs on) the line (from Layla) is "I can't believe he let you teach me how to do all this". I do not think it's her mom, just an old friend/associate of her dad's, one that her dad used to school Layla in espionage (perhaps as training to become the Scarlet Scarab ?)

    I think that Layla is going to be the “scarab”that guides Mark to find where Khonshu has been banished and incased in stone. This is all just guessing obviously, but I think that Layla’s father is one of Khonshu’s previous avatars and Khonshu has had his eye on Layla since she was born. That necklace she killed the guy with was given to her by her father but he got it while he was Khonshu’s avatar. This is all solely based off of when that woman said her father called her his little scarab lol

    Khonsu helped the Goddess Nut by giving her extra hours of moonlight, hence giving her extra time, as she was cursed to "not give birth any day of the year". That means Khonsu can manipulate light. So, what I think happened is that he manipulated the light to create an illusion of the sky as it was 2000 years ago. What is we see of the stars is the light that they emitted many many years ago. We look at their past. So if anyone can control the light and create an illusion/projection of the past sky, the god of moon can.
    That brings me to my another theory, that Khonsu used Hathor's help to create that illusion/projection of the past sky as he cam only control moon light and not all the light of the sky, which Hathor can. He also mentioned to Steven that he can't do that alone, meaning he required Hathor's help and somehow recieved it.

    I think part of the "problem" is less that we don't know Moon Knight's place in the MCU and more that we done have a 10 film build-up to get to know the character prior to the show. With every other MCU show, we've had multiple films to get to know the characters intimately and develop a strong desire to see where they go next. Here, we have nothing. So they have to do more heavy lifting. I think that's why it's more like "Captain America: The First Avenger" and less like "Captain America: Winter Soldier".

    Fair play to them for filming as much practically on location in Jordan (as they couldn't get the permits for Egypt which must have been disappointing for Egyptian director Mohamed Diab), but for certain shots, Marvel Studios must get Disney to build more of The Volume/StageCraft sets asap so they can utilise them instead of traditional green screen! The Gods/Avatars took disgruntled former Konshu avatar Arthur Harrow at face value too easily - literally opened a portal for him from the dig site! Thought they were setting it up so that the one in the suit at the end there was secretly working with Harrow, but nope, turns out he also took him at face value! Layla's definitely falling for Steven which is interesting. Got another FaWS Easter Egg with the Madripoor shout-out after last week's GRC bus ad! RIP to Gaspard Ulliel.

The dodgy CG still bugs the hell out of me, but I'm very much engaged aside from that. My only thing when it comes to these MCU shows, is sometimes I feel as if they're a little too short, maybe they'd benefit from 8-10 eps series, sometimes it seems as if when they really start going, they're already halfway over.
