He is ruthless, unfeeling, and indifferent to pain, and doesn't enjoy doing anything that doesn't work towards his goal (eternal ruler of the world), including causing pain. If someone is in his way, he always just Avada Kedavra them away, unless he wants to make a show of it to threaten people (in Neville's case), or he respects that person as a threat (Dumbledore and Harry).

People are forgetting Voldemort looked barely human anymore after delving into forbidden and dark magic that altered his appearance and he was cursed since a child as never knowing true love. I've had three umbridge like teachers in my life. The first being an evil band teacher who screamed at a little 9 year old me when I turned in my flute. I had her when I was a freshman in high school. She was like 21, and a devil spawn. She decided to murder some chickens from our school coup, steal the same chickens (these chickens belonged to students btw) and sell them, she also stomped on a chick once, murdered three innocent kittens, tryed breaking into my parents garage while at our house visiting me goat (I didnt want her there but she said it was a "requirement" that if I wanted to go to fair she had to see the goat first which was a total lie but whatever) she also framed me stating I stole someone's chicken and that she saw it at my house which was a total lie (I ended up proving it was a lie because the chicken was hidden in her classroom) , and she talked crap on my mom (she did do many worse things and got peta called on idk how many times but I ditn feel like saying everything she did since no one asked lol). She was the umbridge equivalent, except mortal. I don't know what she would do with magic probably the same thing she did to harry with that quil but to me since she hated me so much. So let's just say I sorta relate to you except these teachers hated me for no reason, and if it was a reason it was a stupid one.
As if I didn’t hate her enough after book 5, when I read book 7 and she was knowingly and gleefully persecuting “half-breeds” under Voldemort’s regime, after everything she did to silence Harry in denial of his return....I wanted her dead more than anyone.

Lastly his magical skill improved because some of voldemort(and his power) was inside Harry (hence why after the horcruxes fot destroyed so did his ability to speak parcel tounge which is a magical ability)

Firstly love the new animation intro it’s cute. I think this is the most honest video on Umbridge I've seen. Not just retelling her life but also trying to understand the reasons behind her actions. I absolutely love the sentence : "She didn't hate the students, she loved them ... Because they were easy targets." It says so much: strong desire for acceptance, love and respect; annoyance for not getting any; vengefulness; insecurity ( yes, Umbridge is insecure. When you need to shout in classroom, means you feel you are loosing control of the situation. ). I'm pretty sure deep down Umbridge hated herself... she was ashamed of her background, appearance and lack of self control. That is why she manufactured a pure blood family history; she tried to embellish herself with girlish pink clothes and accessories and speak in a cute ( she thought ) way; and always sought control over others ( the "I'll show them all!" attitude). By belittling people, hernlow self esteem feels avenged . She shares this last trait with Fudge, Vernon & Dudley Dursley, Draco and, to some extent, Snape ( there isn't a person who hates himself more than Snape) and even Harry (I'm thinking of his behaviour after Sirius' death: shouts at Dumbledore, breaks his things, fervently blames Snape, the ministry, the universe, when all the time he knows the only one responsible is him)
Voldemort was strong, he used his power to achieve a goal, as a strong person he knew how to use his power Dolores was weak, she used her power as a tool to feel above the rest, as a weak person she abused her power to feel empowered which makes her worse than voldemort who had a final goal

If she wanted accepted by others, why would be mean to others? Kindness is a way for one being accepted by others. That is what I believe. I think it may have also had to do with how sadistic Umbridge was. Voldemort simply had no care for people, and used them to serve his purpose. Umbridge on the other hand derived pleasure from being cruel.
Imelda Staunton did a fantastic job portraying Dolores Umbridge. I recently watched Sense and Sensibility and I couldn't shake off the shadow of Umbridge, even if this movie came out in the 90s so way before the HP movies, even if she was a nice character and EVEN THOUGH she played along Emma Thompson and was actually nice and kind to her.
She's so evil that when I first read the books, I got flashbacks from the teachers who bullied me in real life. The actress is exceptional and I like how much I'm free to hate her since she does such a great job of being hateable.

For me, the reason is found her so detestable was that fact that she was so secretive with her evil/nasty tendancies... Voldemort was just obvious with his evil intentions. Umbridge pretended to be normal when she wasn't.
Problem with the movie was the actress was better looking than the book Umbridge who looked like a "flabby faced toad with no neck". The first time she spoke Harry expected her to croak and not the little girl voice that Imelda did perfectly in the movies.
Umbridge was healthy in her mind. To say no sane person would do all those things is giving too much credit or else all psych wards would b over stocked with patients and more space in prisons.
So I have a theory as to why Umbridge is so universally despised, even more so than Voldemort and it's actually really simple if you think about it; Everyone has come across an Umbridge at some point in real life. Hell Rowling even said that Umbridge was based on a teacher she didn't care for. My point is Voldemort is more akin to a larger than life villain, the ones you read about in history books (cough cough Nazis cough cough) Umbridge is the Karen that's the head of the PA and delights in abusing customer service workers because she has nothing better to do.

No one can change my mind: Umbridge is definitely worse than Voldemort. At the very least in Voldy's case he was apparently physically (or mentally) incapable of feeling love as a consequence of the circumstances of his conception. Umbridge was supposedly a normal human, albeit a magical human, but no birth defects (or curses) to speak of. She was just a sour and truly evil person who thrived on the suffering of those she deemed beneath her, no end goal in her mind really, just the suffering of others for her pleasure.
An evil character we can all relate to is scarier than any murderer. We’ve all had that one power hungry teacher who was cruel and mean. For characters like Snape, while I don’t like him he had a backstory as to why he’s such a jerk. Anyone can see straight away that Snape is mean just by his appearance but you don’t get that with Umbridge who looks sweet and kind. Umbridge put kids in front of her in danger while Snape put them behind him.
Since we never hear about Delores's mother and brother, and he distaste for them, could she have "arranged" things to "get them out of the way" out of shame of them. I mean she did send dementors to attack Harry in the muggle world...
The actress did an excellent job as Umbridge. And because of our real life experiences with an Umbridge, every one could relate to wanting her knocked off or punished in the worst possible ways. She was also good as one of the fairies in, "Maleficent", starring Anjelina Joile. Umbridge, in my opinion really got off punishing the students at Hogwarts, so to me she had some serious issues with personal interactions and children, period. She needed a permanent stay at St. Murgos Hospital In the department of mental and emotional breakdowns and instability of witches and wizards. Like the Longbottoms but even more so. Not only was she a danger to herself but to others as well. Was she even punished after the war at Hogwarts? Was she ever put into a wizards and witches "Gitmo"? Or did she managed to escape?
She reminds me of a teacher I had, who when I asked to go to the bathroom literally stopped the whole class and made them wait for me before she resumed teaching, just to embarrass me.

I think this is the most honest video on Umbridge I've seen. Not just retelling her life but also trying to understand the reasons behind her actions. I absolutely love the sentence : "She didn't hate the students, she loved them ... Because they were easy targets." It says so much: strong desire for acceptance, love and respect; annoyance for not getting any; vengefulness; insecurity ( yes, Umbridge is insecure. When you need to shout in classroom, means you feel you are loosing control of the situation. ).
I'm pretty sure deep down Umbridge hated herself... she was ashamed of her background, appearance and lack of self control.
That is why she manufactured a pure blood family history; she tried to embellish herself with girlish pink clothes and accessories and speak in a cute ( she thought ) way; and always sought control over others ( the "I'll show them all!" attitude).
By belittling people, hernlow self esteem feels avenged .
She shares this last trait with Fudge, Vernon & Dudley Dursley, Draco and, to some extent, Snape ( there isn't a person who hates himself more than Snape) and even Harry (I'm thinking of his behaviour after Sirius' death: shouts at Dumbledore, breaks his things, fervently blames Snape, the ministry, the universe, when all the time he knows the only one responsible is him)

I think it may have also had to do with how sadistic Umbridge was. Voldemort simply had no care for people, and used them to serve his purpose. Umbridge on the other hand derived pleasure from being cruel.
Imelda Staunton did a fantastic job portraying Dolores Umbridge. I recently watched Sense and Sensibility and I couldn't shake off the shadow of Umbridge, even if this movie came out in the 90s so way before the HP movies, even if she was a nice character and EVEN THOUGH she played along Emma Thompson and was actually nice and kind to her.
She's so evil that when I first read the books, I got flashbacks from the teachers who bullied me in real life. The actress is exceptional and I like how much I'm free to hate her since she does such a great job of being hateable.
Imelda absolutely destroyed that performance. Sadly it’s such an iconic and dedicated role that it’s almost impossible not to see Dolores Umbridge every time she’s in another movie or tv show. Truly a legend.

Problem with the movie was the actress was better looking than the book Umbridge who looked like a "flabby faced toad with no neck". The first time she spoke Harry expected her to croak and not the little girl voice that Imelda did perfectly in the movies.
Umbridge was healthy in her mind. To say no sane person would do all those things is giving too much credit or else all psych wards would b over stocked with patients and more space in prisons.

So I have a theory as to why Umbridge is so universally despised, even more so than Voldemort and it's actually really simple if you think about it; Everyone has come across an Umbridge at some point in real life. Hell Rowling even said that Umbridge was based on a teacher she didn't care for.
My point is Voldemort is more akin to a larger than life villain, the ones you read about in history books (cough cough Nazis cough cough)
Umbridge is the Karen that's the head of the PA and delights in abusing customer service workers because she has nothing better to do.

No one can change my mind: Umbridge is definitely worse than Voldemort.
At the very least in Voldy's case he was apparently physically (or mentally) incapable of feeling love as a consequence of the circumstances of his conception.
Umbridge was supposedly a normal human, albeit a magical human, but no birth defects (or curses) to speak of.
She was just a sour and truly evil person who thrived on the suffering of those she deemed beneath her, no end goal in her mind really, just the suffering of others for her pleasure.
An evil character we can all relate to is scarier than any murderer. We’ve all had that one power hungry teacher who was cruel and mean. For characters like Snape, while I don’t like him he had a backstory as to why he’s such a jerk. Anyone can see straight away that Snape is mean just by his appearance but you don’t get that with Umbridge who looks sweet and kind. Umbridge put kids in front of her in danger while Snape put them behind him.
Since we never hear about Delores's mother and brother, and he distaste for them, could she have "arranged" things to "get them out of the way" out of shame of them. I mean she did send dementors to attack Harry in the muggle world...

The actress did an excellent job as Umbridge. And because of our real life experiences with an Umbridge, every one could relate to wanting her knocked off or punished in the worst possible ways. She was also good as one of the fairies in, "Maleficent", starring Anjelina Joile. Umbridge, in my opinion really got off punishing the students at Hogwarts, so to me she had some serious issues with personal interactions and children, period. She needed a permanent stay at St. Murgos Hospital In the department of mental and emotional breakdowns and instability of witches and wizards. Like the Longbottoms but even more so. Not only was she a danger to herself but to others as well. Was she even punished after the war at Hogwarts? Was she ever put into a wizards and witches "Gitmo"? Or did she managed to escape?
Shortly after Voldemort was defeated, Umbridge was arrested, tried, and sentenced to life in prison at Azkaban.
What makes her so hated over Voldemort is we all know one or more Umbridge.
She reminds me of a teacher I had, who when I asked to go to the bathroom literally stopped the whole class and made them wait for me before she resumed teaching, just to embarrass me.
