It’s post apocalyptic, based off of a song that I really love. So this has helped me a lot to speed up the transcription process.

      I believe you’re talking about the old musescore. The new musescore does flams perfectly fine. The playback is decent and you don’t have to place a tie like you had to in the old version. And I’m also talking about musescore drumline which specialises in the flams and adds a variety to music intended for drumline.

    I use Sonar (cakewalk) for sequencing VDL, and I can set resolution for grace notes to whatever I want, usually about 8 “ticks” on a 120 ticks per quarter resolution. And that velocity tool in grid (piano roll) view is fantastic! But I also use Finale to engrave and print parts because it just looks nicer.

    I hope you've gotten better at Finale. SO Many things are easier if you use Speedy Entry tool rather than simple note entry, especially when writing percussion parts. For example, the tuplet tool is unnecessary if you just use Speedy Entry. Press Option.and the tuplet value (ex. Option 3 for triplet, option 6 for sixtuplet, etc) and enter the note values that you want (from 1 to 8, 128th note to double whole note, 16th note is 3, quarter note is 5, whole note is 7). Anyway, just thought I'd share that with you. I'm a retired Marine Musician and the courses at the School of Music offer a lot of Finale training, but of course you know the D&B don't go to those courses.

    So I don't use Finale, I use Sibelius. But it looks like you may be grabbing the wrong flams when you copy paste those triplet sections. So if you grab the wrong flam and try and paste it into that beat, the software converts that 64th note that the flam takes up to beat one and try and convert the rest of it to weird stuff to compensate.

      I start by trying to understand the fundamental Groove that I'm trying to right. Like what is the groove of the song, How does it go, what's the feel?
      And then I try to convey that with the battery parts. I usually have quad or bass parts in my ear before I have snare parts.
      When I first started writing battery music, I had a tendency of just making the snaring quad part play in unison. But there's a lot of room for exploration when you have them kind of playing back and forth sometimes, not necessarily by playing the same part, but playing rhythms and *accent patterns* that complement each other.

    • @kole2993
      @kole2993 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Unless it's your goal I'd say make originals instead of making it off songs. Sometimes it can help getting a groove through a drumset if you don't have access to marching percussion. And overall I'd say go for things that are more groovy and catchy than complex and aw inspiring as my drumline especially the basses just kinda threw out the harder stuff as we already have to learn show music. But it's really up to you. It's all about experimentation. If you listen to other things you will usually end up copying it so I usually mess around with my own thoughts instead.
