    Yesss i loved Cafe Craft!! Also, for anyone else looking for other cute coffee shops to study in Paris where working is welcomed, I highly recommend Cafe Coutume, the Anti-Cafe (you have to pay for this one), Baguett's Cafe, and La Cafeotheque! There are a multitude of adorable (cough cough aka hipster) cafe buttttt those have the most study-friendly environment!

      The best way to learn a language is to read books in that language. At first it will be very difficult and you're gonna spend a lot of time searching words on the dictionary, but it's very efficient. ( maybe start with books for children or teenagers )

    Damon and Jo you guys gave me the push to study abroad in Paris! I am currently here!! My advice would be if your study abroad program can get you into CROUS housing do it! I pay 300 for my own apartment with everything! Also, if you want to meet more people go to french and english speed dating (its more like speed talking) lol you spend 5 min speaking in English and 5 min in French with Parisians :)

    Hi there :) I've been studying in Paris for almost two years now (started at a Business School and now I'm at Panthéon-Sorbonne and I just love it here. I also live in à chambre de bonne but I have a bathroom with a toilet and shower (I pay 450€ but it's way more worth it than having to share à bathroom). You guys forgot to mention that students can get financial help from the state (APL- CAF) and it really helps a lot (I get 210€). You can also work here without needing a visa for 21h max per week if you're not European (I have two citizenships one of them being an European one). You can try to find à job in fast food chains, cafés, restaurants or even stores but do that before la rentrée or else there'll be too many people looking for a job too! I don't go out that much (drinks are expensive as hell) but you can always find cheap bars in Mouffetard, saint Michel, bastille, oberkampf etc (or just bye alcohol and drink by the river like a lot of people do; the police won't do anything). If anyone has à question feel free to ask. Oh and if you come here expecting to work or study in à public uni you HAVE to have a décent level of French or else you will hardly find a job that is not babysitting (still gotta have expérience for that) and you'll probably fail uni. And Damon, the area around the Eiffel tower is so expensive and there's nothing there, just bobos (no cool bars, etc), just tourists and roumaines x)

      Leopoldo Ferrari Hi ! I'm going to be studying in Paris for 6 months starting this October. I've been trying to look for accommodation sites but don't know which ones legit and I'll have to sort everything from here first before I'm able to get a visa. Could you tell me if you found this rental from some website or recommend some? I would loveeee it if I got a place of my own for 450 cuz I can't find anyyyy decent ones below 800. Thank you xx

    Paris is great, but other cities in France are excellent too! Don't forget to take a look at all the other universities in smaller cities/town all over the country where the prices are lower and the schools smaller (you will be less anonymous than in big universities)! ;-)

    • @Meli-ul9zt
      @Meli-ul9zt 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lulu Kastagnette My university tells me I have the option to study in either Angers or Lyon, do you recommend one more than the other?

    • @lt3533
      @lt3533 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Mel Ordonez I think it depends on 3 criterias : your budget, the environment and your field of study.
      Angers is much smaller than Lyon: It's the 19th largest city in the country whereas Lyon is the 3rd largest city. Rentals and prices in general are probably cheaper in Angers but Lyon is probably more dynamic.
      The University of Lyon is much bigger and has many more students than the University of Angers: maybe you'd rather study in a big/small university? In order to have an idea of the environment of the two universities, you can take a look here for Angers: www.univ-angers.fr/en/international/international-students-exchange-programme.html and also here for Lyon: lyon-university.org/ . If you feel confortable with the French language you can read their websites. You can also take a look at their dedicated articles on Wikipedia (I recommand the pages in French language because those written in English have very few information).
      Some universities have specific poles of excellence in some fields of study. Depending on what you study you can decide which one fits your expectations the best. Besides, some universities propose more courses in English than others. As I'm not a specialist in all French universities (mine is the University of Poitiers), I don't know this kind of information. So don't hesitate to take a look at the programs they propose in your field of study. Maybe your current university can also give you some advice.
      To conclude, I really don't know which one of the two universities I would recommend. It highly depends on the three criterias I mentionned above, they are the most important to take your decision: your budget, the environment of the city and university, and what you have decided to study. But at least I can tell you that, whatever your choice is, both universities are modern and recognized as excellent universities, both have varied programs and put much emphasis on welcoming international students. So don't worry to much and take your time to make your choice... ;-)

    I live in Paris and i'm french and this is so fun to watch your video because it's actually so accurate, Gibert Joseph is my favorite store ever I buy all my books there :) coffees in brasseries and cafes are disgusting everyone complain about it (we also complain about the metro, strikes, cars and tourists), and ALSO make sure to always order "une carafe d'eau" and not a bottle because they will make you pay 4€ for water ... And if you are here during the summer, grab a bottle of wine and some snacks and go sit by the Seine, my favorite spot is on L'Ile saint Louis it's so beautiful there !

    You guys are amazing, I was born here but raised bilingual, it's great to hear about places to meet people here, I find it really hard even after 18 years, especially non-french people. Do you guys know about Hubsy? It's my favourite coworking cafe here. Le poutch is also cool. There's also honor which is a pop-up cafe, not coworking, but the people who run it are really cool, and they tell you where the coffee/tea/chai etc that you're drinking is from. Also, a new place called le peloton run by an American and a New-Zealander which is super cool as well.

      Hi! This may come across a tiny bit weird given I'm replying to your comment three years after it had been posted, but would you please like to tell me more about it? I'm currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Journalism, from India. I've looked at Science Po and all the courses, scholarships, and everything else that they offer, and it sounds like a good option for me to pursue my Masters from there. Would you please tell me about your experience there? It'd be incredibly helpful and kind of you. Thank you so much. Salut!

    • @KatelynMMM
      @KatelynMMM 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@theradbong Hey! I actually did end up going. SciencesPo is extremely prestigious in France, more than I realized before I went. The faculty is respected, the students are serious and international, and it offers a lot of "extras" (for example, respected guest speakers and conferences). It's probably a great option especially for those interested in politics / global issues-- although it's a lot more expensive than other French schools. I think this is because you can complete so many courses in English. But I completely loved living in Paris, and I ended up meeting my wife there too. I lived there on and off for a while and I'm moving back in a few months for my wife to do her masters at the Sorbonne. My one regret was taking all my courses in French, I honestly wasn't ready and found it a bit overwhelming. I was only 19yo at the time, so I was easily intimidated by the French kids haha. It's a great school if you're a serious student, but for sure the best thing about SciencesPo is Paris. And for that reason I would do it all over again!

    • @theradbong
      @theradbong 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This all sounds so wonderful. I'm really interested to know more about if you're comfortable in discussing it with me! Please do drop your email address (or, social media, whichever is fine!) and it would be really helpful. Presently I'm 19, and I'm just jotting down all the details I could gather about my prospective university, and your experiences would be real eye opener for me! Thank you so much for your time. My email id is radhikawgs@gmail.com ! I'll be looking forward to hearing from you.

      I went to Long Beach too! And studied in Paris for a semester a few years ago! It was the hardest thing I've ever done but also the absolute best experience I ever had!

      It depends on what you're planning on studying. Obviously, lectures would all be in French, except if you're studying English literature and other English related subjects. Also, you have to know French people are not good with English (we're better at latin languages). BUT, in our educational system, children (most of them) are obliged to learn English as their first foreign language and they start when they're around 7-10 years old. If you don't understand them, young people should be able to help you and translate. Especially at university, it's rare to find someone who does not know enough about English in case you need it. Don't worry too much, most of our foreign students deal with the language barrier.
      Though, as a fellow Frenchie noticed, there are other great universities in other cities in France which are less selective and cheaper (though, we need to talk about the fact that studying in France is almost free compared to the tuition fees you can find in the UK or the US). One good thing (not perfect of course, there are flaws in the system but still) about that country : we believe worthy knowledge should be accessible to any kind of social background. The problem is not the university... it's Paris! Paris is unfair to students at a point that it sometimes becomes scandalous to live in this city. Rents are no joke and if you want a decent room (because "chambres de bonne" are most of the time not decent at all), it's not going to be easy. Cities like Lyon, Bordeaux, Nantes or Lille (very good places to study, nice atmosphere, etc.) will be cheaper.
      But if it is Paris you want, then Paris you'll have. We're nice (actually, parisians have a bad reputation but they're not all grumpy and cold, luckily) and Paris is a great city after all. I don't think language would be the problem. You better worry about the money.

    A little tip for house and car insurance in France: I would recommend Leocare Assurance :)
    They have an app, very easy to use, in English, and you get a quote price in less than 5 minutes.
    Really great service!
