with the internal check valve in the solinoid valve you said when the vavle is not energised the refrierant can flow for cooling and when the valve is energised the hot gas can flow through. does this mean this valve cannot be closed for a pumpdown??

It will close in the normal flow with no energy, reverse flow will pop open and cause a restriction unless the solenoid is powered.
If Multiple circuits go into a hot gas defrost can it cause oil issues back at the rack?
