I'm glad you mentioned, "not showing up"...... many pastors have good intentions, then they get a call that someone has died or been put in the hospital and they can't attend..... MOST understand those things.... (But in my experience I have seen some that don't understand those things, and can't understand why you didn't put the party first in your obligations...."you said weeks ago you'd be there!")
I had a pastor who had a meeting with me, with a elder present and then the pastor held and cussed me out repeatedly, while I never raised my voice nor instigated anything….and the pastor never had any repentance over it, and continued his disdain at me for a long time, but I left the church…ow he’s a professor at a respectable seminary…..go figure
Let's be honest, women are the only ones that are in leadership in the church I was going to. I was a faithful member for 12 years. I was part of the leadership team. Part of our leadership training was cleaning the church, we took John Bevere courses like the Bate of Satan and Under Cover and Terry Nance's armor bearer. I've watched the revolving doors at the church for many years. But I will not have a Pastor tell me what is God's will for me. Because he wants me to keep doing free labor. I am not a spring chicken anymore. I would do rigorous labor in the yard ministry. And nothing I felt was ever good enough. And when I told the pastor I wanted to cousel with him after Wednesday service. Cuz that's when he cancels people's after Wednesday service or Sunday service. He couldn't set up a time with me. He just sent texts. I still have them as proof. So yes I left because he violated my trust and had other leaders shut me down constantly. So when he dismissed all of us leaders from leadership. And asked whoever wanted to stay after he relieved us all of leadership. I chose to leave. It was the best thing I did.
