Laptops can go in either carry-on or checked luggage. Just make sure that if you put them in checked luggage that the laptops are all the way turned off. Safe travels!
TSA workers need to be better trained on their own scissors rule. Sissors can be brought in carry-on bags if they are less than 4 inches FROM THE PIVOT POINT. And not 4 inches long in total!

As a Type 1 diabetic there is a exception that is helpful, 3-1-1 Liquids Rule Exemption TSA allows larger amounts of medically necessary liquids, gels, and aerosols in reasonable quantities for your trip, but you must declare them to TSA officers at the checkpoint for inspection. Remove them from your carry-on bag to be screened separately from the rest of your belongings. You are not required to place your liquid medication in a plastic zip-top bag. If a liquid, gel, or aerosol declared as medically necessary alarms, then it may require additional screening and may not be allowed. Great video by the way!

Just wanted to add something with food and drinks your not allowed to bring canned drinks through security as my dad had a canned soda in his luggage and the TSA agent made him either throw it away or move aside and drink it at the spot so my dad had to hurry up and drink before he was allowed through so just be aware of that
You can take nail polish in checked luggage. Each container can’t exceed 17 fluid ounces and the total amount of toiletry articles can’t exceed 68 fluid ounces.

If the Tylenol or Advil is in solid form then you can just leave them in your bag. Airpods, chargers and any electronics smaller than a cell phone can also stay in your bag. Anything larger will need to be taken out and placed in the security bins.

No problem to pack ground coffee in a checked or carry-on bag. Just be sure to have the ground coffee that is easy to get to if you decide to pack it in a carry-on bag. Sometimes the coffee can obstruct the x-ray images and if that happens the TSA may ask you to take it out and place it in its own bin.

Checked bags are not subject to the liquid and gel rule so you can pack as much cologne as you want. Just make sure you pack them in a way that they won't easily break. Bags get handled fairly roughly.

All of those things would be allowed as long as it all fits in your carry-on. You will just have to take those items that are electronic out of your carry-on and place them in the security bins when going through security.

Yes, all these people are just doing their job. From TSA agents to CBP personel to pilots, flight attendants and the people manning the gates, even the people that are cleaning the floors. Be appreciative of the efforts they put into getting you to wherever you're going! If you see a baggage handler on the tarmac looking up at you, give them a tumbs up, just to let them know you really do care!
It would depend on how big the urn necklace is and how much metallic metal is has in it if any. Most jewelry can be worn going through security without any issues but if the necklace is on the bulkier side then it’s probably best to tuck it away in your personal item bag or carry on until you get through security.
You can take a ps5 but you will need to take it out and place it in a bin when going through security. You will probably get asked to remove the bubble wrap.

Disposable and zippo lighters are allowed in carry-on bags only. No problem to carry cigarettes in any bag and yes, you can take an empty water bottle and fill it up once you are through security.

Hi Paula, the TSA does conduct random searches even if you have TSA pre-check so yes your carry-on and personal item bag could be checked. When packing meds as well as any liquids and gels be sure to pack them someplace easily accessible just in case the TSA wants a closer look at them. In my experience, the times that the TSA wants to look inside my bag in a pre-check line, it is usually a quick peek and then I am off.
Hi Jessica! You can take solid prescription pills through security. They just have to be screened either through your carry-on or checked bag. If they are liquid gels pills then you must declare them to the TSA agent at screening for inspection. You can bring DVDs and portable DVD players. Just make sure to put it into the tray buckets during security.
Prescription pills I threw all in one RX bottle.. I take 3 different types and cream RX... I forgot to take my cream script out so he shuffled in my carry on bag... But was good he just had to see what it was.

The screening is no different for pregnant women although they can opt out of going through the body scanner if they would like. They will receive a pat down by a female officer. In addition, you can also request a private screening.

You won't have to go through TSA security when entering the US but you will have to collect your luggage if you checked a bag and then go through Customs and Immigration. You will also need a visa or an ESTA to enter the US as well.

Thank you for the airport guides. I do have a bit of an obscure question and I hope you can help. I'm flying domestic with cremated human remains. Is there any special procedure I need to be aware of for this?
I would carry the cremated remains with you through security. I wouldn’t pack it in a checked bag as it could get damaged. It will have to be x-rayed but If the X-ray operator cannot clear the remains, TSA may apply other, non-intrusive means of resolving the alarm. If the officer cannot determine that the container does not contain a prohibited item, the remains will not be permitted. I would also bring a copy of the death certificate and copy of the disposition permit.
i just got my belly button pierced and cannot take it out for another few months will i be able to go through the screener? or should i ask for a pat down?
Most piercings are not going to set off any alarms so you should be good. If it does just let the security officers know you have the piercing and they will decide if you will need a pat down or not.
Just putting shampoo in your bag shouldn't trigger any alerts but the TSA does randomly search bags so it's possible that your bag was selected for a manual search. As to why they left your liquid bag opened, I don't have a good answer for you on that one. That's why you should never pack anything in a checked bag that wouldn't want to loose.

You can bring urns with human remains in your carry on however, it will need to go through the x-ray machine. If for some reason it triggers an alarm when going through the x-ray machine then the TSA will try alternative measure to clear the urn. If they are unable to do so then it may not be permitted through. You will also need a copy of the death certificate or a disposition permit.
You can have separate bags for your meds and toiletries. If you have any meds that are liquid then they need to be 3.4oz or less and placed in your quart sized bag of liquids unless your medication is medically necessary then you are allowed to carry more than 3.4oz in reasonable quantities.
You can carry a travel size disinfectant spray as long as it is no more than 3.4 oz. Most people take disinfectant wipes since they are not considered a liquid and you can pack as many as you like.
You can also take one liquid hand sanitizer container up to 12 ounces per passenger in carry-on bags until further notice. www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/items/hand-sanitizers
If your jewelry is in your carry-on it can stay in the carry-on as it will get scanned. Otherwise, if you are wearing it you will have to either place it in a bin or put it in your carry-on.

You won't be asked to take off your wig. However, if you are using metal clips it will be detected by the body scanners. If that happens then a TSA officer will ask you if you have anything in your hair and will either do a physical pat down of the wig, which is more likely to happen, or may ask you to remove it in private to be able to inspect it.
Depending on which airline you are flying with they will charge you for checking a bag and even more if you need to check a second or third bag or if it is overweight. Typically more than 50 Lbs. You will just need to lookup the baggage fees for the airline you are flying with.

Most jewelry can be worn going through security without any issues but if the necklace is on the bulkier side then it’s probably best to tuck it away in your personal item bag or carry on until you get through security.

No US airport or airline requires you wear a face mask. If you will be traveling internationally some airports and airlines still require them.

Hi, my son, who is traveling for the first time and is a very picky eater, wants to take a bunch of snacks in his carry-on luggage. Is it better for security if we pack sealed multipacks of Oreos, Nutrigrain, Cheeze-its, Fig Newtons, and the like, or should we take them out of the packages and put them in gallon bags? or does it not matter? Whether the snacks are sealed or not doesn’t matter. As long as all the snacks are solid you are good.

Disposable and zippo lighters are allowed in carry-on bags only. No problem to carry cigarettes in any bag and yes, you can take an empty water bottle and fill it up once you are through security.

Hi Paula, the TSA does conduct random searches even if you have TSA pre-check so yes your carry-on and personal item bag could be checked. When packing meds as well as any liquids and gels be sure to pack them someplace easily accessible just in case the TSA wants a closer look at them. In my experience, the times that the TSA wants to look inside my bag in a pre-check line, it is usually a quick peek and then I am off.

Hi Jessica! You can take solid prescription pills through security. They just have to be screened either through your carry-on or checked bag. If they are liquid gels pills then you must declare them to the TSA agent at screening for inspection. You can bring DVDs and portable DVD players. Just make sure to put it into the tray buckets during security.
Prescription pills I threw all in one RX bottle.. I take 3 different types and cream RX... I forgot to take my cream script out so he shuffled in my carry on bag... But was good he just had to see what it was.

@@brindamallik6302 if you pack any external hard drives larger than a cell phone in your carry-on you will have to take it out and place them in a bin for screening. You can also pack them in your checked bag as well.

The screening is no different for pregnant women although they can opt out of going through the body scanner if they would like. They will receive a pat down by a female officer. In addition, you can also request a private screening.

If your laptop just has a basic sleeve on it then you can leave that on it but if its in a laptop bag or something thick then it will need to be removed from the case.

You won't have to go through TSA security when entering the US but you will have to collect your luggage if you checked a bag and then go through Customs and Immigration. You will also need a visa or an ESTA to enter the US as well.

I'm flying domestic with cremated human remains. Is there any special procedure I need to be aware of for this?
I would carry the cremated remains with you through security. I wouldn’t pack it in a checked bag as it could get damaged. It will have to be x-rayed but If the X-ray operator cannot clear the remains, TSA may apply other, non-intrusive means of resolving the alarm. If the officer cannot determine that the container does not contain a prohibited item, the remains will not be permitted. I would also bring a copy of the death certificate and copy of the disposition permit.

Yes, you can bring a flat iron in your carry-on bag. If its cordless it will need to have a safety cover over the heating element.

Most piercings are not going to set off any alarms so you should be good. If it does just let the security officers know you have the piercing and they will decide if you will need a pat down or not.

Just putting shampoo in your bag shouldn't trigger any alerts but the TSA does randomly search bags so it's possible that your bag was selected for a manual search. As to why they left your liquid bag opened, I don't have a good answer for you on that one. That's why you should never pack anything in a checked bag that wouldn't want to loose.

You can bring urns with human remains in your carry on however, it will need to go through the x-ray machine. If for some reason it triggers an alarm when going through the x-ray machine then the TSA will try alternative measure to clear the urn. If they are unable to do so then it may not be permitted through. You will also need a copy of the death certificate or a disposition permit.
I went through a full body scanner and they did a pat down on me...they have someone else watch also as they do this.
At the Body Scanner there will be one Female and Male TSA at the scanner. For the Pat down process.

You can have separate bags for your meds and toiletries. If you have any meds that are liquid then they need to be 3.4oz or less and placed in your quart sized bag of liquids unless your medication is medically necessary then you are allowed to carry more than 3.4oz in reasonable quantities.

You can carry a travel size disinfectant spray as long as it is no more than 3.4 oz. Most people take disinfectant wipes since they are not considered a liquid and you can pack as many as you like.
I took some Lysol spray travel size and put it in my liquids quart size bag... Domestic travel/carry on bag... Had no problems going through TSA.

If your jewelry is in your carry-on it can stay in the carry-on as it will get scanned. Otherwise, if you are wearing it you will have to either place it in a bin or put it in your carry-on.

What about wearing a wig thru security. No one speaks about that. If a woman has a wig on do they make her take it off?
You won't be asked to take off your wig. However, if you are using metal clips it will be detected by the body scanners. If that happens then a TSA officer will ask you if you have anything in your hair and will either do a physical pat down of the wig, which is more likely to happen, or may ask you to remove it in private to be able to inspect it.

Depending on which airline you are flying with they will charge you for checking a bag and even more if you need to check a second or third bag or if it is overweight. Typically more than 50 Lbs. You will just need to lookup the baggage fees for the airline you are flying with.
